we have 2 thompson HDSL routers connected to the internet. we want to combine them to have higher bandwidth and load balancing so we attached them to a linksys rv042 router. we are running a Xbox applications that require high speed internet streaming.
if the RV042 can combine those 2 high speed internet connections, without disconnecting.
I have an RV042 connected to another RV042 via site-to-site VPN. The tunnel has been solid for months, but when I did an actual read/write test between PCs at either endpoint, the speeds were quite slow.
Endpoint A has a line speed of 25/5.
Endpoint B has a line speed of 50/7-ish.
Read/write test from A to B was about ~3 write and ~7 read. Does this sound normal for these routers? I was hoping for better performance than that.
In setup for old RV042 (V1), when updating / adding Mac addresses, the table is always sorted by IP addresses. But in the new oneRV042 (V3) I have, even with latest firmware 4.2.1.02 the list is random, thereby increasing the chance of user entering DUPLICATE IP addr with diff Mac addr. That will result in conflict.If the firmware sorts the DHCP entries by ip addresses, user would be able to catch duplicate ip errors even if the system does not flag the errors. All Cisco smart engineers can you all get the dhcp entries SORT by ip addresses.

What I would like to do is install a RV042 or RV082 (for added speed) and configure it to allow me to access the Internet (from home base) through the VPN from any location while on the road and using my laptop. My questions are: Can this be done? If so, what needs to be done in the configuration to allow gateway access to the Internet? I can't find any reference in the Cicso documents, but somewhere I saw that it can be done. I don't care about accessing anything on the local LAN. As I would be using the same Internet connection for the VPN and the access to get out----how would this affect speed? I plan to use Quick VPN as the client, and haven't even touched the client issue.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading the firmware on my RV042 router to version 1.3.13.02-tm, I am experiencing very slow Internet response on most sites. In some instances, when the page does load, it lacks many graphics. Frequently, I also receive a "server not found"error. In all cases, reloading the page (once it has loaded) results in a complete page display. This is occuring on two MacBook Pros and also on an iPad. The router is a version 1, so no further upgrades are available. I contacted support, but since it is out of warranty, they are unwilling to assist. Prior to the upgrade, everything worked fine, as it has for 5 years.

The issue I've been experiencing lately is when I assign a static IP address to the PC it won't have internet access. Once I allow it to have a dynamically assigned IP then it works fine. The IP I assign isn't part of the DHCP range.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have offices in USA and Venezuela.In our USA office we have a RV042 router and in Venezuela we have a RV082 router.We have connected a VPN tunnel (gateway-to-gateway) between both offices.
The point is:How could we redirect the internet traffic from our Venezuela office (RV082) to the USA Office (RV042) to navigate using USA public IP's?
The reason for this is that we need to use online streaming services which are only available for IP's from USA and we can't use them from the Venezuelan IP's.
We can not use the PPTP option since the equipment which will use the streaming services (like hulu, crackle, etc.) in Venezuela is a Google TV device which doesn't allow the configuration of proxy navegation or PPTP VPN connections itself. That's the reason why we need to do that through the routers.
We have a VOIP system from AT&T with T1 internet access. I have a RV042 setup as the default gateway for the network and the router randomly (usually over the weekend loses the internet). I have updated to the latest firmware and have check all logs on the server. When the internet access goes down we can still access the internal network. I have been power-cycling the router and then everything works fine. Is there a known issue with this router radomly blocking internet access in or out? This device should remain working at all times so that our remote users can access the company network.

We have RV 042 deployed for internet access/firewall purposes. Due to growing number for Wireless devices and also to separate WLAN traffic from wired devices, we have created a separate VLAN/IP Subnet for the wifi devices. We are having trouble accessing the internet from the WiFi VLAN/IP Subnet. Cisco 3750 is layer 2 and layer 3 device. We have VLAN 1 (10.10.10.0/255.255.255.0), all wired devices and RV 042 are part of VLAN 1. Connectivity to internet from VLAN 1 is good. VLAN 2 (192.168.1.0 / 255.255.255.0) was created for wifi devices, 3750 does the inter-vlan routing, I have enabled the multiple subnet feature on the RV 042 and added 192.168.1.2 / 24 to the subnet list, we still have issues accessing internet from vlan 2 devices.
As a workaround, I shutdown vlan 2 and added 192.168.1.0/24 as secondary address to the VLAN 1 interface on 3750 and i was able to access internet from 192.168.1.0/24 network with wifi devices also on vlan 1, we want wifi devices to be on separate vlan / ip subnet. Looking at the documentation for RV series routers, it talks about supporting multiple subnets access to internet by enabling multiple subnet feature but it doesn't seem to work.Are there restrictions on having multiple vlans?
I am using an RV042 router/firewall -- firmware v1.3.13.02-tm -- connected to a cable modem.I have one public address (WAN1) assigned by my ISP's DHCP server.All my machines on the LAN have static IPs. (RV042 DHCP Server is disabled.)I have set up port (80) forwarding to 192.168.1.101 The HTTP port forwarding does work if an http client on the LAN sends a request to http://<public-ip>:80But I cannot get a response if I send a request to http://<public-ip>:80 from a machine on the WAN.
I did configure Access Rules to allow http traffic (and then tried to allow *all* traffic) between a single IP on the WAN and 192.168.1.101 The incoming log table shows a connection is made from the http client on the internet to the correct http server on the LAN, but there is no resonse from the LAN to the remote client.Is my configuration the problem, or is this feature not supported by the RV042 router? Could my cable modem be blocking outbound traffic?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Belkin F7D4301 Router has the fastest wireless speed of maybe 2MBps but wired with a cat5e cable to my asus laptop of almost 7MBps. I have a one smart TV, one blue ray, one roku, and a nexus 7 using the 2.4 channel.
My Wireless 2.4 settings are channel 11, Extension channel 7, Wireless mode N (have tried with just g and b, g, and n modes), Bandwidth 20/40, Protected mode on, QOS off.
I've talked to Belkin tech support, they are the ones who had me set up my 2.4 channel this way but my wireless speeds stay just under 2MBps, they just want to keep sending me the same model Router because they think each of the new ones they send me is defective.
Am I doing something wrong or is 2MBps the best wireless speed I'm going to get?
Without my N 450 router hooked up I am getting hardwired speeds of 50/5 mb, but with N 450 hardwired into my PC the speeds drop to 20/5 mb. I have checked DHCP and I am not getting piggy backed. Is it a bottlekneck, misconfigured or just not compatible with Time Warner?

I had a small Q in mind which I wanted to ask here, while going the config guide, i could not find the way to add a router to the NCS prime. W have ASR 1001 in use along with switches. I read in some forum that NCS supported routers but couldnt find the way in the config guide unless i am missing somewhere. The NCS version is 1.0

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have 1 cat 5 jack at my tv/entertainment area and will be needing additional jacks to add gaming consoles,streaming video player and internet ready tv at the same location.The current jack installed at that location is coming from a D-Link 8 port Gigabit switch installed in a different room.The switch is at capacity,all ports are full,so no additional availability there.My question is how to expand port availability at the entertainment area.Is it possible to put another switch or hub at that connection?Would there be a conflict with cascading a switch from one to another? I have a 25 meg fiber optic incoming service,so there is plenty of speed and bandwith available to handle these componets.

I get various "connection timed out" and "DNS lookup failed" errors, then after about 10 minutes of frustration everything works again. I know this problem is isolated to just this one PC as I have done Internet speed tests from another computer. I have tried using different wireless cards, resetting the router, changing DNS servers. Nothing has worked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am with Virgin Media, on their 60Mb service.I never go over their limits, according to them I download and upload very little.However the difficulty comes about when I start using a program called Xsplit to stream video games.After about 5-30 minutes of this, my 60Mb speed gets shot to between 15 and 25Mb, and the 3Mb upload gets shot to 0.4-0.5Mb.
They finally came to me today and after a few tests, said all the figures on their end showed it wasn't their network, but was instead on my end. They figured this out because the numbers from my modem showed it was something like 63000000 and 3000000, meaning my speeds should apparently be normal? (I don't know...). I turned off my wireless (turned the Superhub on to "router" mode), and the internet shot back up to 60Mb. I then after about an hour, requiring to use wifi on my tablet again, turned "router" mode off, so WiFi was available. Bam, my internet went back to 25Mb / 0.5Mb.My specs are as follows:
Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate
8GB DDR3 1600 Corsair vengeance RAM (or 1833, not sure)
GTX 680
i5 2500k processor, overclocked to 4.7GHz[code]....
My custom built computer, only 4 months old, is right now getting an approximate internet connection of 4 mbps. I'm supposed to be getting 60. (This is mbps down by the way) how to get my speed back? I've tried other network adapters but it's not working.

Now I want to insert a new service IMAPS for port 993 so I go to service management.Then press "add to list" see below for result.It is there, then press OK and the screen closes, now if I choose a service from the list, it is not there !!
I have installed a new ASA 5510 on our internal network as a termination point for our VPN connections. This ASA replaces the VPN termination on our outside ASA. I have setup a VPN group profile and enabled DTLS on the interface on this ASA. The only interface on this ASA is the inside interface. We have done speed tests while on the VPN from both devices. When connecting to the VPN on the outside ASA speed tests show download speeds between 5-8 Mbps and upload speeds of .80-.96 Mbps. When connecting to the VPN on the inside ASA speed tests show download speeds between 2-3 Mbps and .76 Mbps. When I run the "show web-session svc" command on both instances I see that the connection to the firewall on the outside shows that the protocol being used is DTLS however on the inside it doesn't show DTLS.
I think that part of the problem is that DTLS isn't being used. What can I do to improve my download speeds? Will the ASA use DTLS if the interface that is being used is the inside interface?
I am somewhat of a neophyte at networking and I have a question. I have a small business network using a secure wireless router connected to my cable modem. We have a DVR security system which we would like to monitor remotely. I would like to keep the DVR separate from my secure wireless router for security reasons. My thought is to connect the DVR through a cable or wired modem into my cable modem. Do you folks think this will cause an issue with the wireless router which uses DHCP to determine the IP address?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI live in a townhouse in a college campus which means we all have the same ISP. I checked the channels and checked wifi stumbler. They both look good. For the last few days I have been getting really slow internet speeds after 7 pm till 1 am. I am paying for 25 mbps but around that time I get 0.5 mbps. I have the latest firmware for the router. I talked to customer support twice and all they did was reset my router and tell me to power cycle it. It can't be range of the router because my laptop is right next to it.

I currently have a 2 router setup working ( one in the office running a wire behind walls to my upstairs computer ) and have an internet speed of 35/35. We will be upgrading when fios comes out with the 150/65 plan and would like to upgrade our slave router as well. Currently it's a D-Link WBR-1310/RE 54mbps 802.11g router and we would like a router capable of handing the full 150/65mbps with wireless N capabilities.

When bypassing the ASAs the speeds increase to 4Mb/6Mb. I have checked the interfaces on the ASAs and there are no errors, collisions, drops, etc.
