I have a Netgear ADSL2 router connected to my main computer and want to add a new Belkin AC900db via plug link at the other end of my house so that we have wireless coverage throughout the whole house. It was working at first but the belkin needed an update which I did now It won't work at all?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an N1 Wireless Router (F5D8231-4 ver 2). It is setup with WPA/WPA2-PSK on and links to a Windows Laptop and an iPod Touch perfectly. I cannot get my new Samsung Note 10.1 (GT-N8000) connected. I have tried changing the router to WEP 128bit and even no security. The Samsung links perfectly to my neighbours Thomson Wireless Modem/router with no security. The Belkin N1 is recognising the android trying to link and assigns an IP. The Samsung instantly sees the Belkin network ( says " very strong signal") & tries to connect. It saves the network but gets stuck trying to obtain an IP address & reports "network disabled" and "weak signal".

Now the PCs on the other side of the house are connected over a Home-Plug network.Is there a way to connect the DIR-655 to one of the Home-Plug ports on the distant side of the house to "extend" the wireless coverage there for our laptops? Presume this is a different scenario than creating a "bridge", "access point", or "extender" since the router would be connected back via Ethernet cable. There may be some overlap too in wireless coverage around the middle of the house. Ideally I'd like to use the same SSID.Has this ever been done before? What would I need to reconfigure on the DIR-655?

Normally, when I plug a switch into a router it requires no set up. This one on the other hand, will not work.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had my DIR-601 for almost a year now and it's been working near flawlessly until just recently. I have a very simple setup with a desktop PC, router, Time Warner cable modem, and the only device that accesses the router is my Droid phone. I shut my PC down every night. The next day when starting up my PC, there's no internet connection. I haven't fooled around with any router settings, but what I've been doing to re-connect is unplug the cable modem power cord and router power code, wait a minute, then re-plug them back in and it connects right away. Is there something easy that I can do/repair to correct this? Maybe I should check if there are firmware updates?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLooking to add my belkin wireless router to Sbg6580 router as an access point to extend wireless. I've read up enough to understand the fundamentals - LAN to LAN, changing IPs, turn off DCHP etc. - but am confused by a couple of things.
First, belkin faqs says to Open the router page, click on "use as access point" (I get that) "Select Enable" (I also get that), and then it goes on to say "This will give you the options to set the IP Address and Subnet mask for the router.**These settings should match your existing network settings; by default the IP address will be set to 192.168.2.254 and the Subnet mask will be 255.255.255.0". Does this mean to set the IP address of the Belkin to that of the Motorola (which is 192.168.0.1) on this page?
Then the FAQ goes on to say access the LAN and "change the IP Address to something such as 192.168.2.47 or you can use 192.168.2.200.**As long as the first three sets of numbers match your existing network, you will be fine". I thought the LAN IP address should fall outside the DCHP range of the Motorola? So if the DHCP range for the Motorola is 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.250 then I'd assign 192.168.0.251 to the Belkin?
N600 DB on OSX. I keep on reading the material that there is a link on the dashboard that I click on to set up the router manually. Nowhere on the dash board is that link. Where is that link?

I have a BSNL BB connection. When I use the connection directly, without adding TP Link router, all the websites open flawlessly. Once when I connect the wireless router, certain websites for example Yahoomail, pepperfry.com, yepme.com don't open at all. These are just examples, but I'm unable to access many sites which is a bit annoying. But sites such as gmail, youtube, facebook open clean, there are no issues. I didn't make any configuration changes too. I tried it more than three or four times, but there is a restricted access only.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI currently have 1 cat 5 jack at my tv/entertainment area and will be needing additional jacks to add gaming consoles,streaming video player and internet ready tv at the same location.The current jack installed at that location is coming from a D-Link 8 port Gigabit switch installed in a different room.The switch is at capacity,all ports are full,so no additional availability there.My question is how to expand port availability at the entertainment area.Is it possible to put another switch or hub at that connection?Would there be a conflict with cascading a switch from one to another? I have a 25 meg fiber optic incoming service,so there is plenty of speed and bandwith available to handle these componets.

I am somewhat of a neophyte at networking and I have a question. I have a small business network using a secure wireless router connected to my cable modem. We have a DVR security system which we would like to monitor remotely. I would like to keep the DVR separate from my secure wireless router for security reasons. My thought is to connect the DVR through a cable or wired modem into my cable modem. Do you folks think this will cause an issue with the wireless router which uses DHCP to determine the IP address?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just acquired a Kindle Fire for my wife. Joined my Dir-655 network just fine. I have never done a firmware update (using 1.10) and have lived by the "if it ain't broke. " axiom. Dell laptops, Mac laptops and desktops, Wii, X-box, LG Cinema TV, Roku, iPad, multiple iPhones and iPods all connect and work fine (with the occasional (once a month) reboot of the router necessary). Using cable modem (bridge mode), no historic issues. Suddenly when the Kindle Fire is utilizing the network at the same time as one or two other devices, the network crashes, and a power down reboot is necessary. A Google search reveals a fair number of complaints about this across router brands.

This is on a DIR-655, firmware 2.01NA, hardware rev B1.Is there a limit on the number of DHCP reservations that can be added to this WAP?This WAP was working fine with 10 DHCP reservations (wired & wireless devices), 6 schedules, Access control of 2 devices by MAC (6 defined, only 2-3 active at a time).I started adding additional DHCP reservations, because I'm simplifiying my network, and when I add the 26th DHCP reservation I get the message "Schedule rules is Full! Please Delete an Entry."
I've been adding all of the new DHCP reservations as disabled, but I haven't assigned any schedules or otherwise to these new devices yet. So what's up with this message??
