Cisco Routers :: RV042 Randomly Blocks Traffic To Internet?

Dec 19, 2011

We have a VOIP system from AT&T with T1 internet access. I have a RV042 setup as the default gateway for the network and the router randomly (usually over the weekend loses the internet). I have updated to the latest firmware and have check all logs on the server. When the internet access goes down we can still access the internal network. I have been power-cycling the router and then everything works fine. Is there a known issue with this router radomly blocking internet access in or out? This device should remain working at all times so that our remote users can access the company network.

Cisco Routers :: How To Redirect Internet Traffic From RV082 To RV042 Through A VPN

Feb 24, 2013

We have offices in USA and Venezuela. In our USA office we have a RV042 router and in Venezuela we have a RV082 router. We have connected a VPN tunnel (gateway-to-gateway) between both offices.

The point is:How   could we redirect the internet traffic from our Venezuela office   (RV082) to the USA Office (RV042) to navigate using USA public IP's?

The   reason for this is that we need to use online streaming services which   are only available for IP's from USA and we can't use them from the   Venezuelan IP's.

We  can not use the PPTP option since the  equipment which will use the  streaming services (like hulu, crackle,  etc.) in Venezuela is a Google  TV device which doesn't allow the  configuration of proxy navegation or  PPTP VPN connections itself. That's  the reason why we need to do that  through the routers.

Cisco Routers :: RV110W Blocks All Inbound Traffic

CE IP - 172.18.10.10 /30PE IP - 172.18.10.9/30 I had configured some floating static route on the PE towards CE .The routes were installed correctly till PE - CE link was UP as next hop IP was showing as connected .Now the link has been removed and I am receiving a supernet of 172.16.0.0/12 from PE2 via MPBGP. Although the 1st static route for 10.10.0.0 is showing in routing table, the other 2 ( 172.17.0.0 & 172.24.0.0 ) donot show. I believe that as both the routes and next hop fall under the supernet , the static route is not installing. But I don't know why is this behaviour. I tried to remove the distance 250 from both the routes , but still the static route does not install. I tried this on GNS3 but got the same results .

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Stops Passing Traffic On WAN

Feb 12, 2012

We have a managed service provider voip network that requires us to use our own router for the data network. We wanted to use the RV042 for it's easy vpn setup. After installing it worked great for about 10 min. then the WAN port stopped passing traffic. 3 min. later it started working again. We tested the RV042 on a different network and it works fine. We tested an older Pix on the managed network and that works fine. But the RV042 will not work on the managed service provider voip network. The service provider says that on their end it shows our WAN port going up and down.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 No Traffic Moves In Or Out Via WAN Interface

Sep 3, 2012

I'm having some problems blocking IP blocks.  I have several blocks of IP's that I want blocked.I want to block 77.0.0.0/8 from communicating with a server on my lan.So I make a rule in the RV042 to deny all traffic from 77.0.0.0 to 77.255.255.255, source wan1, destination lan, my server's ip,As soon as I move that rule above the traffic forwarding rules I have created, no traffic moves in or out via the wan interface.  It seems to just cut off all traffic.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Firewall Slows VPN Traffic

Sep 9, 2011

Replaced an older RV042 that had damage from lightning. The new RV042 is V03 with firmware 4.0.0.7. This router supports 7 branch offices using site-to-site VPN to other RV042 routers. After connecting the new RV042 at the main office, three of the branch offices had very slow response over the VPN tunnel. I disabled the firewall on the new RV042 and the problem resolved. The three branches with the problem have Windows 7 systems and the other 4 have Windows XP. I confirmed that the Windows firewall was disabled on the Windows 7 systems.I did try leaving the firewall enabled and disabling SPI, but that didn't work. Have to have firewall disabled to resolve the problem. I would not expect the firewall on the main office RV042 to affect VPN tunnel traffic, but apparently it does. Do we need specific access rules to fix the issue. It works fine with firewall disbaled, but I'd be more comfortable with it enabled.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 - How To Direct Traffic Through Specific Wan Port

I have an RV042. I understand and have created the services I need. The documentation is just not clear on how to direct traffic for these services to a specific wan port.

Can this even be done with this router? If so, the how? Use rate control or priority? Does checking a wan port mean that it will only go through that port?

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5550 Blocks Traffic For Some IP

May 14, 2013

In our company we use ASA 5550 as a VPN server (failover pair, FW 8.2(5)). Long time we used Cisco VPN client (easyVPN) only and some time ago we started to use L2TP/IPsec VPN from Windows clients. From this time we can see strange behavior. Some ip addreses (we use ipv4 only) from local VPN ip pool are getting unusable for clients. When client gets this ip address the traffic from client to intranet is ok but the traffic from intranet to the client is blocked. This behavior affect both L2TP/IPsec and easyVPN clients with this ip address. The packet trace shows that the traffic will be blocked because implicit deny ACL but ACL for the connected user is created:

Phase: 10
Type: ACCESS-LIST
Subtype: vpn-user
Result: DROP
Config:
Additional Information:

[code].....

We use RADIUS for authentication and ACL. Failover to the standby ASA solves the problem but this terminates all L2TP/IPsec VPN connections. We use Cisco Anyconnect VPN too and when Anyconnect client gets this „strange“ ip address he can communicate normally without problems. It looks like that this problem is related to IPsec. how to discover why ASA uses -implicit deny- instead of user ACL?

Cisco Routers :: Can RV042 Access The Internet

Jul 9, 2012

I am new to implementing VPN service.  What I would like to do is  install a RV042 or RV082 (for added speed) and configure it to allow me  to access the Internet (from home base) through the VPN from any  location  while on the road and using my laptop.  My questions are: Can this be  done?  If so, what needs to be done in the configuration to allow gateway  access to the Internet? I can't find any reference in the Cicso  documents, but somewhere I saw that it can be done.  I don't care about  accessing anything on the local LAN.  As I would be using the same  Internet connection for the VPN and the access to get out----how would  this affect speed?  I plan to use Quick VPN as the client, and haven't  even touched the client issue.

Cisco Routers :: 3750 / RV042 And Multiple LAN Subnets Access To Internet

Nov 27, 2011

We have RV 042 deployed for internet access/firewall purposes. Due to growing number for Wireless devices and also to separate WLAN traffic from wired devices, we have created a separate VLAN/IP Subnet for the wifi devices. We are having trouble accessing the internet from the WiFi VLAN/IP Subnet.  Cisco 3750 is layer 2 and layer 3 device. We have VLAN 1 (10.10.10.0/255.255.255.0), all wired devices and RV 042 are part of VLAN 1. Connectivity to internet from VLAN 1 is good. VLAN 2 (192.168.1.0 / 255.255.255.0) was created for wifi devices, 3750 does the inter-vlan routing, I have enabled the multiple subnet feature on the RV 042 and added 192.168.1.2 / 24 to the subnet list, we still have issues accessing internet from vlan 2 devices.

As a workaround, I shutdown vlan 2 and added 192.168.1.0/24 as secondary address to the VLAN 1 interface on 3750 and i was able to access internet from 192.168.1.0/24 network with wifi devices also on vlan 1, we want wifi devices to be on separate vlan / ip subnet. Looking at the documentation for RV series routers, it talks about supporting multiple subnets access to internet by enabling multiple subnet feature but it doesn't seem to work. Are there restrictions on having multiple vlans?

Cisco Routers :: WAN RV180 ALG Blocks Inbound Sip Messages

Sep 4, 2012

I have a sip gateway connect to the LAN side of RV180 router which has ALG enabled.  I have no problem to make and receive calls but sometime I see the router does not forward the 'Bye' message from the VOIP service provider to the sip gateway.

[Code]....

In the capture frame 4292, a 'Bye' message reaches the WAN of RV180 but it never forward the 'Bye' to the sip gateway with internal ip. All settings in RV180 are default with only ALG enabled. I tried to setup Access Rule or Port Forward but none seems to work.  Not sure if they are over-ruled by ALG? With ALG enabled, is it possible to have individual Access Rule?  If there are conflicts between ALG and Access Rule, which has higher priority?

Cisco Routers :: RV220W Blocks Hosts File?

Jun 16, 2012

anything I put into my hosts file, will not go through the Cisco RV220W router. This is part of the set up:

192.168.1.10 << RV220W
192.168.1. 15 << A client machine
192.168.1.99 << Internal DNS with forwarder to OpenDNS (208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220) + a laptop that's not on the internal network at all.

Now, the client machine and the laptop both have an entry in their hosts files:
174.156.12.81 insight.hello.com

From the laptop, I can both browse to insight.hello.com, and I can ping it in Xterm.

From the client machine (192.168.1.15) which is behind the Cisco Router/FW, I can ping insight.hello.com, but I can not browse to it. This is especially strange since the ping goes through the Router every bit as much as the http traffic does, so why is the router giving me a DNS error on that, but the ping goes through just fine?

The hosts file is supposed to supercede any other information from anywhere, so it out to not be a problem for the router either. Yet, it obviously is.

I have tried to disable the internal DNS server as well as OpenDNS and just run the ISP's DNS servers, but no change - I still get that blue DNS error screen from the CIsco router.

Above IP's & hosts are fictitious.

The hosts file doesn't get blocked in a sense, but what happens is that if you have "Content Filtering" checked - even without any rules - the router can not verify that 174.156.12.81 is in fact insight.hello.com in this case, since it doesn't exist in the public DNS system.

So, I unchecked Content Filtering and now it works as it should.

Cisco Routers :: Does RV042 Router / Firewall Support Port Forwarding From Internet

Aug 5, 2011

I am using an RV042 router/firewall -- firmware v1.3.13.02-tm -- connected to a cable modem.I have one public address (WAN1) assigned by my ISP's DHCP server. All my machines on the LAN have static IPs.  (RV042 DHCP Server is disabled.)I have set up port (80) forwarding to 192.168.1.101 The HTTP port forwarding does work if an http client on the LAN sends a request to http://<public-ip>:80But I cannot get a response if I send a request to  http://<public-ip>:80 from a machine on the WAN.

I  did configure Access Rules to allow http traffic (and then tried to  allow *all* traffic) between a single IP on the WAN and 192.168.1.101 The  incoming log table shows a connection is made from the http client on the internet to the correct http server on the LAN, but there is no resonse  from the LAN to the remote client. Is my configuration the problem, or is this feature not supported by the RV042 router? Could my cable modem be blocking outbound traffic?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200V2 SPI Blocks FTP From The Internet?

Jan 31, 2012

No problem setting up the FTP server on the router.  It's working perfectly from inside the LAN.  But any attempt to access the built-in server from the WAN side is fruitless.  I found that if I turn off the IP4 SPI on the router, I can suddenly connect to the built-in ftp server without issue from the Internet.  If the SPI option is checked, its a no go.

Is this a bug?  I can't imagine that it is intentionally set up such that you have to turn off the firewall in order to use the FTP function externally.  At least it isn't mentioned anywhere I can find and it wouldn't seem logical.
