View 3 RepliesNo problem setting up the FTP server on the router. It's working perfectly from inside the LAN. But any attempt to access the built-in server from the WAN side is fruitless. I found that if I turn off the IP4 SPI on the router, I can suddenly connect to the built-in ftp server without issue from the Internet. If the SPI option is checked, its a no go.
Is this a bug? I can't imagine that it is intentionally set up such that you have to turn off the firewall in order to use the FTP function externally. At least it isn't mentioned anywhere I can find and it wouldn't seem logical.
For the past year or so, 5-6 times a day my router's green internet light will turn red, needing a reset... 99% of its usage is through wired connections and this is the only router in my home.

For some reason it disconnects my wireless internet at random times and i know before it never use to do that before with a older router. There is nothing blocking it, it worked before, and my computers can connect except two. The only thing i can guess is my wireless card.

After playing with the MTU from 1492 (recommended by ISP) to 1364, it's seems to be quite ok until recently.It is getting worst than before. It disconnect my internet almost few times in 5 minutes.

I have configured my e4200 to block traffic at certian times uses both the Parental Controls and the Intenet Access Polices. Neither one seems to work though. [code] I have the same MAC addresses specified in each rule. Initally I had only the first two rules. Those didn't work, so I added rule 3 and 4 (they do the same thing as rules 1 and 2 but from the opposite direction). There are no compliaints, but they don't stop any traffic.
I started with the Parental Controls, they didn't work either. The page in there that lets you pick which machines you want to block seemed next to worthless. I have about four rows listed as "Network Device." REALLY LAME! As the MAC addresses are accesible and these weren't working I went to the IAP.
We have a VOIP system from AT&T with T1 internet access. I have a RV042 setup as the default gateway for the network and the router randomly (usually over the weekend loses the internet). I have updated to the latest firmware and have check all logs on the server. When the internet access goes down we can still access the internal network. I have been power-cycling the router and then everything works fine. Is there a known issue with this router radomly blocking internet access in or out? This device should remain working at all times so that our remote users can access the company network.

I probably have to unplug router and modem at least 5-7 times a week. Could this happen because I have too many things using the router at once? We have 4 laptops, 2 iPhones and 2 iTouches, plus often using PS3 and Wii. We use Time Warner DSL.

My internet at home keeps disconnecting. It disconnects when I go upstairs (we have a small house), it disconnects when I'm more than 5 meters away. Sometimes when I'm right next to the modem it disconnects. But not only does it disconnect, it also ask me once again for my internet password (as it is protected with one).
Things I've noticed:
-This has been going on for some while (about a year ... I'm a really patient person). It does it with my and my brother's macbook Pro (Mac Os X 10.5.8) but it doesn't with my father's Toshiba
-We switched to bell's fibre optic, so the modem should be working fine
-my internet works beautifully when I'm at my grandmothers house (who also has the new Fibre optic) and works well at my school's university
-Once a few months ago I decided to do some searching and found out that my computer kept changing some kind of IP name or whatever (not sure exactly what) but it kept saying: "BELL_account_name_0 has disconnected so it reconnected to BELL_account_name_1", and then _2, _3 once I found it was up to _150 !!
I am pretty handy with computers but I'm not used to Mac's settings. Everytime I try to do the Network Diagnostics sometimes it works first shot, sometimes I have to re run the same Diagnostics and it will work 20 tries later (like I said I am patient). But I know that Network Diagnostics is NOT THE ANSWER. It's just a temporary patch, I want to solve this problem completely so I won't have to deal with it in the future.
I have fiber optic Internet with static ip and keeps disconnecting at very random times. It started 3 weeks ago, before it worked perfect. Most of times dcing 3 times per hour. But sometimes working for hours without dcs. Usually disconnects only for half minutes then reconnect, it can be very annoying. The provider keep saying that need change router. I'm tried three different of routers already, but keeps disconnecting. I'm tried connect the net directly into my cpu, without router, but not worked, dc-ing too. I tried ping the default gateway when its disconnected, and its saying: request timed out.What else can i try? It should be, that the provider has too many clients, and their router collapsing?

We have had no problems until recently, I called the satellite Internet company(which is a local co.) they told me my router was going out. I bought a new one, problem solved, my husband told me my neighbor just got Internet and has been playing Xbox everyday which coincidently is between the 5:30pm to 10ish pm we have been having issues with our router. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having some problems with my new custom built computer connected wirelessly to my Router. My router is an SMCD3GN. So it is a Router/Modem in one. I am currently using the Linksys AE3000 Wireless-N USB Adapter. I have had a past Wireless USB Adapter, & an internal Wireless network card. The USB quit working & in order for me to get it to work is I have to reinstall the drivers everytime I turn my computer back on. The internal wireless network card would randomly lose internet every 30mins - an hour. Being a gamer, this is very frustrating. So, right now I am using the Linksys USB, and I was just playing a game & talking to some friends on skype & I would lose internet for 2 seconds then it would automatically reconnect. So I am beginning to think that it might be my Router but I tried my USB on my laptop for like 10 mins (I disabled the internal wireless network adapter) & I went into cmd.exe and pinged google for about 10 mins, & it said "Request Timed Out." several times.

Modem was replaced a week ago and still problem persists. Landlady says she has no problem (shes the one in the next room and is connected directly) but I think that because she doesn't notice (I play online games so its very noticeable). Basically, my wireless internet has been disconnecting then reconnecting on weekends up to 50+ times a day. The weekend also seems to be the time when I have 10+ wireless connections in range. Can that be the cause of it? I have tried changing my router channels but to no avail.

I also have two more routers of the same kind, one downstairs and one upstairs.They are configured in a way, that DHCP server is only turned on, on the one in the garage, the other two act as switches.My problem is that 50 % of the time I can't acces facebook, and some other random sites.The interesting bit is that when I chat with someone on FB, I can see what they write, but my message doesn't go through.The way it goes, is that I can browse on facebook for like 5 minutes, after that its unavailable for another 5 minutes.I can still access the site from my smartphone, but only if its not connected to the wifi network, meaning the problem is somewhere within my setup.I've already tried turning the router firewall off, but that doesn't make any difference.

Every other website we have tried works just fine. I have tried the following.Remove the WRT310N router and plug a computer directly into the broadband modem. After this everything works fine for the one computer I have hooked into the internet.Remove the WRT310N router and substitute an old Linksys non-wireless router. Everything works fine for the hardwired computers on the LAN. Again, not really an option, need wireless access.
Unplug the router and so a soft reset. Still blocks this one website.I have not done a hard reset to factory specs. I wasn't looking forward to redoing everything I had set up.I looked over every setting in this router and can't find anything that would cause it to block a web page. I am far from a networking expert, but most of the settings seem pretty obvious.
i have router lynksys WRT120N and the latest 1.0.0.7 firmware. And the problem occured frequently. At about 13.00 i went out, wifi was working okay. At around 18.00 i returned home and i was trying to connect to the wifi with my android phone, and suprisingly it did not work. I tried on my laptop and on a android tablet. It did not work. The only thing that i could figure it out is to reset the router. I checked the settings, and there was no access policy e.g. time based access blocking.
View 5 Replies View RelatedATT Uverse modem provides internet for the house. Uverse modem also includes a wifi router. The HP C410a printer is connected wirelessly to the Uverse router. The printer is able to access the internet, and all computers (including the problem Mac) can print wirelessly when wirelessly connected to the Uverse router. The Mac sits at the opposite end of the house, far outside the range of the Uverse router. To solve this, we have a Netgear Powerline adapter connected to the Uverse router to provide internet over powerlines throughout the house. At the opposite end of the house, the Linksys E1000 is connected by ethernet to the Netgear Powerline outlet. This setup works - all computers, including the Mac, can wirelessly connect to the E1000 and there is fast internet access.
Two different PC's can print wirelessly to the HP C410a while connected to the E1000 - it works perfectly. However, the Mac can't print via the E1000 - I have to carry the Mac over to be in range of the Uverse router and then print. When you try to print on the Mac, it can't "find" the printer. However, if I open the HP print utility on the Mac and manually enter the IP address of the printer, a new printer pops up and I can make it print test pages. But I still can't print anything else from the Mac.
The Mac can print if the E1000 is bypassed with a physical ethernet connection to the Powerline outlet. So the conflict is definitely between the E1000 and the Mac, because everything else works in every other combination.I think something in the E1000 is preventing the print driver on the Mac from sending data to the printer, because the Mac can "communicate" with the printer via the HP print utility software, but whenever you try to print using the driver it can't connect to the printer. I have a problem with an internet connection with a customer.They have a Zyxel 660 in bridge mode and the public ip is delivered to the eth0/0 outside interface of a 5505 ASA.They lose internet connectivity a couple of times per hour. What solves the problem immediately is disconnecting the ethernet cable from the eth0/0 and then directly plugging it back. Then it runs for 20-30 minutes or so.The isp doesnt't notice any errors on the dsl connection, only that they cannot ping the outside interface from time to time (duhhh)However, yesterday, when problem appeared for first time , I noticed that this Zyxel was very hot since it was placed on top of the ASA. Now it is set apart.In the meantime I already replaced all cables, but I think it's the Zyxel so I urged that the ISP send a new Zyxel.Though it sounds strange. [code]

I can use the IIS, if the firewall is activated, but the exchange Server can not receive any emails. I have also created some firewall access rules for the mentioned services but without success.
I have a blog and website hosted by X9 Hosting. I am unable to connect to cPanel, the website, the blog, or and X9 sites.This began when saving a WordPress article in the blog. My problem is, whenever I Port Forward port 80 to my comp's IP to host a web server, all the other computers connected to the router are unable to access the Internet. So, I set up no-ip to use port 8080, but, this exposes my ip and even when masking, if you look at the HTML code, you get the ip.I need to know how to open up port 80 without restricting Internet access to only my comp, or any other work around.
