I have an 1811 as a border router. Initially we had one block from our ISP. We just got a second block of IP's and I'm not sure how to make this work.
Block #1 - Working
209.91.**.129-142 /28
Block #2 - Not Working
209.91.**.146-158 /28
The problem I'm having is block #1's gateway is 209.91.**.129 and block #2's is 209.91.**.145
How do I make it so I can use both blocks in my NAT entries?
I've got an 1811 router running 15.4 IOS and a cable modem with 5 static IP's attached to Fa0. I would like to dedicate one of those IP's to a dedicated internal subnet (10.0.30.0/24) but I am not sure how to accomplish this?
What would be the best method to accomplish this? Unsure of where to begin..
Currently I have an asa 5510 set up with one block of outside IP addresses. Everything is working fine in regards to my initial setup. However we needed to purchase additional IPs from our provider and ended up being a whole complete different block. Where I am getting stuck is getting the new IPs to NAT to inside addresses.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently purchases new E3000. I setup the E3000 with static IP from border router rather DCHP which seemed to default to the same IP address and DNS. The laptops tied to the E3000 have their own IP's that are different from the IP of the border router. E3000 is configured with no firewall an minimal protection, for now. The reason for minimal protection was to get the handshaking to work between the two routers. The border router is a Verizon product. The old router that I was using is a Netgear that did handshake with the border router. I have the latest firmware for the E3000 namely Firmware version: 1.0.04 build 6. Router will not handshake either with wired or wireless connections. Laptop used to connect to the E3000 is running Windows 7 Ultimate. In fact all laptops here are using the same OS and connect using wireless. I tried the included software package from the website, which housed a diagnostic that apparently couldn't fix the problem as well. I don't have clue as to the reason for E3000 not to handshake with the border router.

My question is how to configure the router so that all devices on all 3 VLANS can obtain IP from the router. I've tried to enable proxy arp on all interfaces and create sub interfaces and trunk them to their appropriate vlans, but I can't specify the gateway on all trunked sub interfaces because I get a warning that addresses overlap. Then I tried to set access-group on all sub-interfaces and still doesn't work.
I have a RV042 with multiple subnet, 192.168.10.0 and 192.168.9.0. 192.168.10.0 is assigned to the LAN, 192.168.9.0 is created under multiple subnet. Both subnet can access Internet by accessing IP address, but 192.168.9.0 cannot access Internet by using host name. It looks like DNS is not working for the 9.0 network.

The first (and most obvious) is that there are 356 devices that will require an IP. Too many for one subnet. The second is that a good portion of the devices that I am using are a litlle to chatty with the broadcast traffic for my comfort. I have two subnets that are going to be specifically alocated to these chatty devices. Our switches are being provided for us by the client for unknown reasons. They are providing us with HP ProCurve E2810 switches which are layer2 switches.

so for example
VLAN10 - 10.0.10.0 - limit to 5MB
VLAN20 - 10.0.20.0 - limit to 10MB
VLAN30 - 10.0.30.0 - limit to 3MB
I recently bought SG-300 28P to create the VLAN. My network hs 3 subnet 192.168.1.0, 192.168.2.0 and 192.168.3.0.My main net work is 192.168.1.0. I want to divide it to VLAN to eliminate the boardcast storm; especially from the domain 192.168.3.0
But I want all the devices from 192.168.1.0 to access other subnet.
I have a home office with multiple VLANS/subnets I have many VPNs that connect only a specific subnet to a specific remote offfice. On a 5520, can I create a S2S VPN to different remote offices that have the same IP scheme, but from different home office subnets? For example at my home office let's say I have two independant, distinct VLAN/subnets: 192.168.140.0/24 and 192.168.150.0/24. Can I create an S2S from the 140 subnet to a remote office with a 10.10.10.0 addressing scheme and another S2S from the 150 subnet to a totally different office also with a 10.10.10.0 scheme?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have fiber optic net, going into a TP Link 1043 ND router out in my garage.All of the 4 lan ports go into one of the rooms in the house. I also have two more routers of the same kind, one downstairs and one upstairs.They are configured in a way, that DHCP server is only turned on, on the one in the garage, the other two act as switches.My problem is that 50 % of the time I can't acces facebook, and some other random sites.The interesting bit is that when I chat with someone on FB, I can see what they write, but my message doesn't go through.The way it goes, is that I can browse on facebook for like 5 minutes, after that its unavailable for another 5 minutes.I can still access the site from my smartphone, but only if its not connected to the wifi network, meaning the problem is somewhere within my setup.I've already tried turning the router firewall off, but that doesn't make any difference.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT310N V2 wireless router. Last week it started blocking access to our family website. That website appears to be the only one that is blocked. Every other website we have tried works just fine. I have tried the following.Remove the WRT310N router and plug a computer directly into the broadband modem. After this everything works fine for the one computer I have hooked into the internet.Remove the WRT310N router and substitute an old Linksys non-wireless router. Everything works fine for the hardwired computers on the LAN. Again, not really an option, need wireless access.
Unplug the router and so a soft reset. Still blocks this one website.I have not done a hard reset to factory specs. I wasn't looking forward to redoing everything I had set up.I looked over every setting in this router and can't find anything that would cause it to block a web page. I am far from a networking expert, but most of the settings seem pretty obvious.
No problem setting up the FTP server on the router. It's working perfectly from inside the LAN. But any attempt to access the built-in server from the WAN side is fruitless. I found that if I turn off the IP4 SPI on the router, I can suddenly connect to the built-in ftp server without issue from the Internet. If the SPI option is checked, its a no go.
Is this a bug? I can't imagine that it is intentionally set up such that you have to turn off the firewall in order to use the FTP function externally. At least it isn't mentioned anywhere I can find and it wouldn't seem logical.
I have a cisco router 1811 when powered displays the output below then it hangs at that point.

View 5 Replies View Related I have a Cisco RV042 Wired Router. I've got a static IP and a MS Small Business Server in my Router Network. I have forwarded the essential ports to use the IIS and the Exchange Server of my SBS2011 (https, http, smtp, rpc).
I can use the IIS, if the firewall is activated, but the exchange Server can not receive any emails. I have also created some firewall access rules for the mentioned services but without success.
i have router lynksys WRT120N and the latest 1.0.0.7 firmware. And the problem occured frequently. At about 13.00 i went out, wifi was working okay. At around 18.00 i returned home and i was trying to connect to the wifi with my android phone, and suprisingly it did not work. I tried on my laptop and on a android tablet. It did not work. The only thing that i could figure it out is to reset the router. I checked the settings, and there was no access policy e.g. time based access blocking.
View 5 Replies View RelatedATT Uverse modem provides internet for the house. Uverse modem also includes a wifi router. The HP C410a printer is connected wirelessly to the Uverse router. The printer is able to access the internet, and all computers (including the problem Mac) can print wirelessly when wirelessly connected to the Uverse router. The Mac sits at the opposite end of the house, far outside the range of the Uverse router. To solve this, we have a Netgear Powerline adapter connected to the Uverse router to provide internet over powerlines throughout the house. At the opposite end of the house, the Linksys E1000 is connected by ethernet to the Netgear Powerline outlet. This setup works - all computers, including the Mac, can wirelessly connect to the E1000 and there is fast internet access.
Two different PC's can print wirelessly to the HP C410a while connected to the E1000 - it works perfectly. However, the Mac can't print via the E1000 - I have to carry the Mac over to be in range of the Uverse router and then print. When you try to print on the Mac, it can't "find" the printer. However, if I open the HP print utility on the Mac and manually enter the IP address of the printer, a new printer pops up and I can make it print test pages. But I still can't print anything else from the Mac.
The Mac can print if the E1000 is bypassed with a physical ethernet connection to the Powerline outlet. So the conflict is definitely between the E1000 and the Mac, because everything else works in every other combination.I think something in the E1000 is preventing the print driver on the Mac from sending data to the printer, because the Mac can "communicate" with the printer via the HP print utility software, but whenever you try to print using the driver it can't connect to the printer. I disabled the E1000 firewall

I seem to be having an issue where certain very packets are being dropped/lost by my office router. The reproducible situation is, when I attempt a DNS zone transfer from my linux bind DNS server (A.A.A.A) to any server on my network behind NAT (Y.Y.Y.Y) the first packet (Seq 1) of the response is lost. The client making the query asks for first packet (Seq 1) to be resent, and the DNS server attempts to resend it repeatedly, but those are lost too.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat I am trying to do is I have one switch with say a 10.1.9.1 sub-net I need to have one of the ports to be trucked with two vlans one for DSL and the other for a local connection with the sub-net of 10.1.5.1 both of the sub-nets are configured in the core as 9 and 5 so I have port 0 set up as a trunk and it is set up as ge-0/0/0.0 vlan_5, vlan_192 on the 10.1.9.1 subnet switch. The DSL is working but the local is not pulling a 10.1.5.1 IP and has no connectivity. Everything looks as if it is configured correctly but still the DSl is working but not the Local connection.

I tried Googling, but kept getting results about people asking what the difference between a switch and a router is, or how to set up two subnets on one router or switch.My current router is pretty old, its a V2 WRT54GS. I don't want to let it go but the lack of WiFi-n and Gigabit can get limiting, especially when sending large files across systems on a network or streaming video.However, I have another issue that wouldn't really be resolved by replacing it anyway, the fact that most if not all home routers have 4 Ethernet ports max. The amount of wired devices I use in the same area is increasing, and while I can switch some of them to wireless to make room for the wired-only ones, I would prefer not to. Some of these are multimedia or gaming devices and I would prefer the lower latency as well as higher LAN network speeds of Ethernet for them. I was told that I can connect a switch to my router and have everything act as if its on the same subnet.Will devices plugged directly into the router and those on the switch act as if they are on the same subnet and see each other without issue? Wouldn't this cut down on the speed of the devices if I have several plugged into the switch since they are sharing the single port the switch is plugged into the router with? Would it be better to get a switch with several gigabit ports and just plug everything into that for LAN speed? Its not like the WAN connection will come anywhere even close to 100Mbit, much less Gigabit, but would that still cause a bottleneck if several devices are trying to access the WAN over a switch that is plugged into a single port on the router, or no? Or would it be better to plug as many devices as I can into the router and the rest into the switch?
P.S. I use static IPs because I like to know which device has what IP to communicate with them directly if need be, and the WRT54GS has no way for my to reserve an IP based on port, MAC, or anything. Would that cause a problem? Is there any way to assign/reserve IPs on the newer routers (especially Linksys) with their stock firmware so I can switch to DHCP for guest devices?
