Cisco Routers :: How To Redirect Internet Traffic From RV082 To RV042 Through A VPN
Feb 24, 2013
We have offices in USA and Venezuela. In our USA office we have a RV042 router and in Venezuela we have a RV082 router. We have connected a VPN tunnel (gateway-to-gateway) between both offices.
The point is:How could we redirect the internet traffic from our Venezuela office (RV082) to the USA Office (RV042) to navigate using USA public IP's?
The reason for this is that we need to use online streaming services which are only available for IP's from USA and we can't use them from the Venezuelan IP's.
We can not use the PPTP option since the equipment which will use the streaming services (like hulu, crackle, etc.) in Venezuela is a Google TV device which doesn't allow the configuration of proxy navegation or PPTP VPN connections itself. That's the reason why we need to do that through the routers.

We have a VOIP system from AT&T with T1 internet access. I have a RV042 setup as the default gateway for the network and the router randomly (usually over the weekend loses the internet). I have updated to the latest firmware and have check all logs on the server. When the internet access goes down we can still access the internal network. I have been power-cycling the router and then everything works fine. Is there a known issue with this router radomly blocking internet access in or out? This device should remain working at all times so that our remote users can access the company network.

I wonder if I can have a RV042 VPN Tunnel to a RV082, and in the RV082 block all traffic to the internet that comes form the PCs that are behind the RV042.
Remote PC -> RV042 -> VPN -> RV082 -> RV082 Firewall (block internet traffice, allow intranet traffic)

I have an RV042 VPN tunnel with an RV082.The RV042 has a public IP Address obtained by PPPoE, the RV082 has a public IP Address obtained via Static IP.The problem I see is a really slow performance. Both internet conections are idle and the performance is about 2 or 3 kbyte/s My question are if I should I enable any of this:
- Agresive mode
- NAT Traversal
- IP Compresion
- Dead Pear Detection
How can I troubleshot this slow performance?

I have RV042 V01 and V03 and RV082 V03.I'm wondering if there's a difference between the default actions taken by the "Logs" interfaces?
In the case of the V01 systems, it appears that I get a Security Notification every hour.In the case of the V03 system, it appears that I rarely get a Security Notification.

I'd like to setup a WCCP in those routers, but as I read, it's not possible.
Another way to circumvent this limitation is to foward a request to the router from the LAN port 80 to a LAN IP, something like:
LAN 1 192.168.1.100:80 -> router -> LAN 2 192.168.1.101:80

I'm trying to setup a VPN between an RV042 V3 and an RV082 V2 router. They get connected but no traffic gets through the tunnel. I tried with and without firewall,DPD, Keepalive, forward secrecy but nothing worked. What should I do? I don't want to throw out the V2 routers. V3 to V3 connects fine.

At one of my field offices I want to redirect internet traffic down a separate DSL connection instead of having it ride the T1 back to the main office then going out. At this office I have a 2600 router, 3560 switch, with a Fortigate firewall in between DSL connection and LAN, Fa0/0 on router and firewall are both plugged in to switch. I have seen posts that mention PBR or static routes which is the reccomended method for dealing with this?

I found this guide in order to send all traffic from RV042 branch office to the RV082 in the central office: [URL]
But that guide is for v2 hardware. I tried and did not work, so I wonder if there is newer info for v3 hardware (firmware v4.2)
I have a RV042 in a brach office connected via working VPN Tunnel to a RV082 central office. I want to route all traffic from the brach office to the RV082 in the central office.

We have a managed service provider voip network that requires us to use our own router for the data network. We wanted to use the RV042 for it's easy vpn setup. After installing it worked great for about 10 min. then the WAN port stopped passing traffic. 3 min. later it started working again. We tested the RV042 on a different network and it works fine. We tested an older Pix on the managed network and that works fine. But the RV042 will not work on the managed service provider voip network. The service provider says that on their end it shows our WAN port going up and down.

I'm having some problems blocking IP blocks. I have several blocks of IP's that I want blocked.I want to block 77.0.0.0/8 from communicating with a server on my lan.So I make a rule in the RV042 to deny all traffic from 77.0.0.0 to 77.255.255.255, source wan1, destination lan, my server's ip,As soon as I move that rule above the traffic forwarding rules I have created, no traffic moves in or out via the wan interface. It seems to just cut off all traffic.

Replaced an older RV042 that had damage from lightning. The new RV042 is V03 with firmware 4.0.0.7. This router supports 7 branch offices using site-to-site VPN to other RV042 routers. After connecting the new RV042 at the main office, three of the branch offices had very slow response over the VPN tunnel. I disabled the firewall on the new RV042 and the problem resolved. The three branches with the problem have Windows 7 systems and the other 4 have Windows XP. I confirmed that the Windows firewall was disabled on the Windows 7 systems.I did try leaving the firewall enabled and disabling SPI, but that didn't work. Have to have firewall disabled to resolve the problem. I would not expect the firewall on the main office RV042 to affect VPN tunnel traffic, but apparently it does. Do we need specific access rules to fix the issue. It works fine with firewall disbaled, but I'd be more comfortable with it enabled.

I have an RV042 router and I'm looking to monitor the total upstream and downstream traffic from within the router.
I know there is tons of software that I can put on a network computer to monitor traffic, but is there any software that I can put on the router itself that will monitor the traffic from within the router?

I have an RV042. I understand and have created the services I need. The documentation is just not clear on how to direct traffic for these services to a specific wan port.
Can this even be done with this router? If so, the how? Use rate control or priority? Does checking a wan port mean that it will only go through that port?

I am trying to set up my router to grant http traffic a minimum bandwidth of - for example - 5,000 kBit (if there is any http traffic).
So I set http min. rate to 5,000 while I set nntp min. rate to 1 However, when I run nntp downloads on several connections (e.g. 10) my single http download never goes above 1,000 kBit. Without any other connections I reach 8,000 kBit.
I am using a single 12 MBit line.

I've been having trouble with the internet connection speed on my Mac. I originally noticed the problem when my mail kept timing out whenever I sent an attachment, I went to different forums trying to find the solution but nothing really worked, so I found work arounds for the email and lived with it. Recently the company I work for moved offices and I was no longer behind the RV082 and my internet ran better dispite the slower connection. Once we finished moving, I needed to use the Dual Wan Load Balance feature of th RV082 so I set it up in the new office and my internet was slow again. Unfortunatly in the new office there are several more Macs than just mine so I really need to get it working. Currently we have 2 seperate networks for PC and Mac and I really need to get them on 1. Is there a setting I may have overlooked or is it not going to work with Mac.

I have a network of 50+ users with half running XP and half running Windows 7. Soon we will be upgrading all users to Windows 7. During the past month a number of the Windows 7 users have reported intermittent Internet connectivity. I would go to their computer and see that they are getting all the correct IP information from the DHCP server and reboot their network adapter. Usually one reset of the adapter would do, but sometimes had to reset it twice or three times before connectivity would occur.
After a few weeks of this more users would report consistent intermittent connectivity. Just to the Internet, as they were able to reach their folders on our file server and were able to receive e-mails from our e-mail server. I decided to monitor the network traffic on one of the adapters having the issue using Wireshark, and found an ARP request and reply for the gateway IP. I logged into the router and found that the reply given to the Windows 7 machine was incorrect, as the MAC address given to the Windows 7 machine was the WAN1 port of the RV082. The LAN port on the router is 192.168.0.1 and has a MAC of xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-x0. The WAN1 port on the router has a public IP and has a MAC of xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-x1. I checked the arp cache on the Windows 7 computers and confirmed that when they have no internet connectivity the ARP cache reads like this: 192.168.0.1 xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-x1 dynamic
The machine is able to ping every machine on the internal network except for the gateway IP. Also, after updating the cache to map the gateway IP with the LAN port MAC address, using: netsh interface ipv4 add neighbors "connection name" 192.168.0.1 xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-x0
the issue was resolved for that Windows 7 machine. However, the issue is ongoing for every Windows 7/Vista machine added to the network. I do not want to update the ARP cache on every Vista/7 machine introduced to the network. We are running firmware 2.0.2.01-tm which was updated from 2.0.0.19-tm just 2 weeks ago.

We have W2K3 domain with Catalyst 4507 routers.Client (laptop, tablet etc) needs to redirect web traffic (port 80) to a proxy server that listens on port 8080.
Before you ask, this cannot be done using a PAC file distributed via Group Policy or the like because these devices are not controlled by us. These devices are client owned and could be non-Microsoft OS and/or non-IE browser. The theory is to have a WiFi network where clients can bring whatever they like - iPad, Android, Windows, whatever it may be but we do not control them and therefore cannot send a PAC file to it. In the case on Android it does not have a proxy setting even if we could force something.
I've looked at Policy Based Routing which appears to do half the job. I can route a web request that is on port 80 to a new location ie our proxy server. But the problem is that it arrives on the same port 80 when the proxy server only listens on port 8080.

We need to create Guest WLAN on WLC 5508 which will be used for internet access only. My questions are:
1. Is it possible to use our external web proxy server to authenticate users?
2. Can we also forward all traffic to the external web proxy to filter the websites that can be accessed (without configuring it on the browser)?
3. Can this be achieved using the L3 webauth?
Our topology:
WLC -- Switch -- ASA Firewall -- Internet -- External Web Proxy
We are using WLC as DHCP server for Guest WLAN with ASA Firewall as the gateway.

We want design a topology based on transparent proxies using WCCP. Our proxies can do spoofing of user ip addresses. So, the HTTP request will go out our network with the user ip address as source ip. The HTTP Response will arrive with destination address the user ip address. We want use WCCP to redirect inbound and outbound traffic because we have c3750 with L2 WCCP support. The outbound redirection, when the packet is going out our network is simple. But, the problem is the inbound redirection. How we redirect this packets to proxies by WCCP?. Is it possible?. This redirection is done by c3750 using TCAMs/hardware?. Our throughput could grow until 2-3Gbps and we are worried about the performance.

So I have a proxy server in my home that all the computers use to access the internet (XP Pro). I edited the host file on the proxy to redirect traffic for various reasons (ad blocking, etc.) But I have noticed that it doesn't seem to affect the computers that use the proxy. For example one entry in the host file could be 127.0.0.1 abc123.com so that abc123.com would loopback to the localhost. For some reason this isn't working. Is there anyway to get this to work without changing the host file on each individual computer?
