Cisco Routers :: RV042 Fails To Obtain WAN IP Address Infinite Lease Time

I just got a new RV042. V3 Hw.For setup and testing before putting it in action, I've attached the WAN1 side to my internal network.But it fails to get an IP address, and the log shows: "Infinite lease time, exiting".My current router on the LAN is giving out DHCP addresses with 3 hour lease time, and I've checked with the PC's on the LAN that this is correct.The routers DHCP status shows that the lease time for the RV042 is 3 hours ahead.So why does the RV042 complain about long lease time ?Is there a way to avoid this error from occurring?
I have tried to change from 'Gateway' to 'Router', but this does not change anything.Also tried a factory reset, with no luck.Fw is upgraded to the latest 4.0.4.02

we finally got my Cisco refurbished E2500 configured and working downstream from a UVerse 3801HGV box. We had to change the default IP address of the 3801 because it conflicted with the E2500's default. The E2500 is set up to get its Internet IP address using DHCP from the 3801. This is working fine for normal web browsing, etc. However, anything that requires extended connections (downloads, streaming, etc) freezes after a couple of minutes, forcing me to refresh the action to get it started again. Extremely annoying to say the least.
I'm pretty sure that I've tracked it down to the E2500's configuration of the 3801's DHCP allocation. For some reason, the E2500 wants to set the DHCP Lease Time for the 3801's assigned IP address to 10 minutes regardless of the upstream settings from the 3801. The 3801's default is 24 Hours which I've changed to 168Hours (7 days), but the E2500 stays stuck at 10 Minutes. Specifically, I'm referring to the setting displayed on the E2500 under Status>Router>Internet Connection IPV4>DHCP Lease Time.

I am setting up a dual WAN network in our small business office and I am confussed on the set up of the RV042.
On WAN1 I have a satellite modem connected
On WAN2 I have a cradlepoint CTR35 Router with a verizon aircard
The satellite has lag issues and will drop out during poor weather but has a 17GB dowload limit. The verizon aircard has only 5GB download limit but normally works in poor weather. Code...
Do I select obtain DNS automatically on both WAN1 and 2? Do I set this up as a gateway or a router?

Small company, under 10 computers, wired and wireless printers, straightforward network. Do not need (nor particularly want) Smart Wi-Fi, Cloud Connect, or or anything other than a simple manually-setup router. Have a new EA6500 I plan to use replacing an E1000 that is playing up (needs to be reset every morning) connecting to Verizon east (former GTE) aDSL. Connected the EA6500 to a laptop via ethernet, changed router password to same as E100, set up the two port forwards I'll need (IPs on the internal network are static in the 192.168.1.0/24 block), changed DHCP server to start at 101 (don't ask), leave Internet Connetion Type setting at "Automatic Configuration - DHCP" (same as E1000), shut down both routers and modem (Westell WireSpeed 890-210015-04). Connect EA6500 to modem, power up modem, power up router, and...Nothing. Does not receive external IP via DHCP.If I switch back to the E1000, it immediately picks up the IP lease.

We have ASA running code 8.0.4 with Active/Standby for quite long time. Today when we gave the command wri standby it started sync the config to standby ASA but waited forever.when we checked the show failover, we got the following result.

I have WAG120N & Linksys RV042. I configured the WAG120N encapsulation to "Bridge mode only" and once I connect a pc to one of the RV042 ports, I could access Internet without any problem, but if I connenct a PC to a port on the WAG120N, then I can't get IP address and browsing fails.
How can I connect the above 2 devices in order to be able to browse Internet through Ethernet ports of RV042, Ethernet ports (and wireless of course) of WAG120N, and finally configuring this setup to allow QuickVPN client (or site-to-site VPN) to access a an application server on my LAN.
My Internet connection is based on PPPOE. How to do the configuration for my setup.

i got the RV042 and want to update the fw to 4.04.xx . After a few minutes, the browser wanted to perform the update again. I agreed and now, the webinterface isnt available and i cant get a IP from the router. So I tried to reset the router twice. After no success, I performed a factory-reset, which should work when I pressed the reset-button at least for 30 sec.Now the DIAG-LED blinks in a ~5sec rythm.What can I do?

We are using router RV042 since last three it's working fine with single broadband connection but when we are using as a load balance it will hanged three or four time in a single day. I have updated firmware also but still my problem is not resolved

Firmware version : 1.3.12.19-tm (Feb 13 2009 13:03:21)
DRAM : 32M
Flash : 8M
Latest firmware is v4.1.1.01-sp.bin but it will required v3 hardware, I don't know how to check hardware version.

I have a Linksys WRT310N v1 with firmware v1.0.10 build 002Jul 19, 2010 My router fails to renew it's DHCP lease from my cable provider, causing internet access to drop. I can still access my cable modem at 192.168.100.1, but I must do a "IP Address Release" then "IP Address Renew" to get back internet access. The router works fine otherwise.

I have 2 RV042 routers with identical firmware (1.3.13.02-tm) and settings. One router is a backup that sits in a box, but both experience this problem. The WAN port gives very poor performance most of the time. Download speeds range from normal, 25mb, to less than .5mb. Pings from my command prompt or the routers "Diagnostic" page, even to the cable modem, are almost always above 500ms. However, pings to internal resources are fast, usually under 5ms. If I connect my laptop directly to the cable modem I have no speed issues. The problem occurs whether I use WAN1 or WAN2.
If I restart the router, speeds are fine for a few seconds and then it begins to slow down like someone is turning down a dial. We also regularly experience a complete internet disconnect quite often, and when it happens, the ping results are the same when it comes back up, almost like the router is restarting itself. [code]

Both users are in the same remote office. They can connect individually with no problem but if one is connected and the other tries connect also the second user gets a message the gateway is not responding. They are both running Win XP PRo SP3.

On the BEFSR41 v1 series and WRT54G series, what is the maximum value for the DHCP "Client Lease Time (in minutes)?" It seems that 2^16 -1 (65535) minutes is the max. This is about 45 days. has the max value changed with newer versions of these devices?

I'm trying to change the DHCP Client Lease Time from 1440 minutes to 480 minutes. When I try to apply the new settings, I'm getting a message that says "Invalid Characters" and it won't stick. I am trying to limit HTTP access to my server on the local network to a specific IP address. I create an Access Rule in the firewall section, however that doesn't work. The only way it works is if I add the internal IP address of the server to the Forwarding section where I create a new HTTP forwarding rule.However, that is not good because that allows ALL HTTP traffic to that server instead of just by the single IP address.

I have a problem with my WAN ports. I can´t obtain a ip adress from my ISP. I´ve tried factory reset. Upgrade to lateset firmware. Clone MAC adress from my PC. Nothing is working.
But when I plug the WAN port into my Old router it receives an adress directly. When I plug the ISP connection directly into my pc or the old router it´s working as well.
I am using the latest firmware: RV0XX-v4.1.0.02-tm.bin
And My ISP has an interface with an ADSL modem SmartAX with DHCP.

I would like to allow PING on RV042 from WAN side only from specific IP address, but when I set the rule, RV042 does not respond on WAN side, because Block WAN Request is Enabled.BUT! When I disable "Block WAN Requests", now any IP can ping my router from WAN side. Although I set access rule to Deny Ping from WAN side to anyone, it still responds.

my Laptop is about nine years old, HP Pavillion Pentium 4. I run Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 SP3. I use a broadband card from Verizon that I just put in my USB (no router, etc) I'm getting a System Error Source DHCP Event ID 1002. When this happens, my computer, I believe, is going into sleep mode and I have to reboot the system. When I turn it back on and go back on the internet, all my websites that I was in are still there. The error says: The IP address lease 10.170.223.48 for the Network Card with Network address 2c3068c16ED1 has been denied by the DHCP Server 10.173.229.86 (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK message)The DHCP Server Service did not extend the lease on your computer's IP address, so your computer temporarily lost its connection with the Network. I tried the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew. I tried going in services.msc and going under DHCP and keeping it automatic but stopping it. I called Verizon and I believe he refreshed my Network settings (I think I knew more about the topic than he did) He said it was my computer, whatever. I just tried the static IP but it didn't seem to take. I restarted and it jumped back to automatic. My last guess is it's something to do with the time frame of when it automatically obtains the address and when it expires. When I do the ipconfig /all it shows only a two hour time frame before it expires. Today I noticed that my computer shut down/sleepmode at the exact time the ipaddress was obtained. So, is there a way to increase this time between obtaining and expiring?

My first try at configuring my RV042 has had unexpected results. I set a WAN and LAN address, but did not enable remote managment and did not configure any port forwarding. I expected to be able to connect to the router on the LAN and I could. The surprise came when I put in my web address. I got a router login page. How do I suppress than on the WAN side. I have a static address with my ISP.

I have a RV042 using (for now), just the single WAN interface. I am trying to forward all packets to port 9000 from the WAN to a single IP address on the network. I've set up both forwarding rules under Setup -> Forwarding and under the Firewall -> Access Rules.I cannot connect to my device from the outside world, however. Is there something I'm missing?

Im facing with some DHCP lease issue and its like this,Our Cisco 2951 edge router is configured with local dhcp pool for a set of remote users when they connect through Cisco VPN which was working fine until we planned to change it to a Windows box that is configured for DHCP.The basic idea now is to relay the DHCP requests that are coming from the remote clients through Cisco VPN to the DHCP Windows server. I coulden't visit any websites and it gave me an "error 105" something. So i tried connecting my other comp to the internet cabel with the same result. So i tried to find a solution on the web (wierless internet still worked) and stumbeld upon a similar problem were the answer was to manually fill in an adress in the "internet protocol version 4" properties in the "local area connection" properties. I then noticed that i dident have the "Obtain DNS server address" set to automatically and that the other manual boxes were empty. I then turned the auto on an i had access to internet. Is this safe? Cause i read somewere that DNS server addresess were provided by the company that provide you your internet service, and that you can be redericted to a fake website that can get a hold of your account information on it

I have a netgear wireless router, not sure on the model but can find out if required. My xbox360 is hard wired to the router and my Laptop is connected wirelessly to the router using the internal wireless connection on the laptop. The other half has a laptop too, for some reason her will not connect wirelessly, just gets stuck on a constant loop of ''aquiring ip address'' and does not get past this point. I have a Lexmark Professional X7675 that will not connect to my wireless network saying "unable to obtain IP address". This printer was previously connected to the wireless network with no issues. I did a reinstall on my computer and a reset of the printer network settings but still it will not connect to the wireless. The SSID and the WPA are both correct.
