Cisco Routers :: RV042 / Login Screen On WAN Address With Remote Management Disabled
Aug 28, 2011
My first try at configuring my RV042 has had unexpected results. I set a WAN and LAN address, but did not enable remote managment and did not configure any port forwarding. I expected to be able to connect to the router on the LAN and I could. The surprise came when I put in my web address. I got a router login page. How do I suppress than on the WAN side. I have a static address with my ISP.
We have a RV042. remote management is set to DISABLE - but even after restarting the router i can access the interface remotely over the internet.even when i enable it and change the port to say 5555 i can connect to the web interface using either port 5555 but ALSO on port 80.what's wrong here?the only way to stop that was to create a rule that blocks port 80 on the WAN interface. (btw. could this rule affect LAN users when browsing the web?)
I'm running a new RV042 with the latest firmware (4.1.1.01). I set it up about 2 weeks ago and have been running it without an issue. Today I tried to go in to the web utility to make some changes. I was prompted for the userid/password, which it appeared to accept (if I typed in the wrong ones it rejected it), and then the screen went blank (normally I would get the status screen now.) Instead the screen I get is the light blue of the log-in screen, but there is nothing on it. The router has switched to the page https://192.168.1.1/home.htm I have tried different browsers and accessing it from different computers - the situation is always the same. I have power cycled the router, and there is no change. I suspect the next step is a manual reset to factory defaults - but of course I would rather not (as I didn't save all my settings of course!)
I have a brand new RV042 v3 that I just updated to the latest firmware (v4.2.1.02) and have stumbled across an anomaly... I can only access the router from the WAN port using port 80. I happen to have it set to port 8080, but that doesn't work; I have to use standard port 80.
I have two other RV042 units running older firmware and they work as expected and follow the port that is filled in. This one has me puzzled and wondering if this is a bug in the firmware.
i was connected to my rv042 via remote management / browser, and tried to add vpn clients. i generated a new certificate and then i clicked on export for clients. by doing this, the remote management disconnected and i cannot access the router anymore.
how can i get the new .pem file from remote? do i have to make somebody turn off and on the unit to get back remote access??
p.s.: after turning off an on i tried the same steps again: everytime i click on "export for admin" or "export for client", this kills the remote management and the unit must be hardreset. now: how do i get the newly created client certificate off that unit ?? otherwise i will have to drive 350 km just to grep that file ?!?!
I have a 6 month old RV042 with the newest firmware (v4.2.1.02). Over the weekend I configured the DMZ which after a lot of trial and error, was able to get working. Prior to configuring DMZ, I was able to log in with remote management. However now remote management no longer works. I've tried:
- Rebooting the router - Turning the firewall off/on - Turning remote management off/on - Changing the remote management port
The only step I haven't taken is resetting the router back to factory defaults and trying to reconfigure it all again. This router is so finicky I have no faith I'd be able to get my current functionality back again.
I am having trouble accessing my DIR-655 remote management screen via ip to my network. To make sure i didnt have any odd settings, i did a hard reset on my router first.I then enabled remote management, and left the default port 8080 I try to access viw the ip address on my status page suffixed by the port 8080 [URL] page cannot be found.I then enabled https and tried to access via:[URL]page cannot be found.I then setup a entry in the virtual server to redirect http requests to my workstation hosting IIS7, if i connect to localhost, the iis welcome screen appears, but if i browse to my ip, i get nothing.I am using Cox residential service, i called them and they informed me that they do not filter or block requests in any way.
i just bought a netgear router. i was able get into routers login screen once. thought every thing is good? everything looked correct? now i cant get into login screen at all again. im confused it should be easy. either use 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.254. i tried them all with no luck.
Today I purchased a RV042 wired router. I set the VPN connection but when I try to login using QuickVPN, get stucks in "Verifying network". I checked the logs:
2011/09/22 20:43:45 [STATUS]OS Version: Windows 7 2011/09/22 20:43:45 [STATUS]Windows Firewall Domain Profile Settings: ON 2011/09/22 20:43:45 [STATUS]Windows Firewall Private Profile Settings: OFF [Code]...
From my side Im connected to a WRT54G2. VPN Passthrough enabled. Windows 7 Pro x64. No 3rd party AV or firewall. Windows Firewall disabled, also tried enabling it.
From the RV042 side it has a Static IP Address configured. DHCP server enabled. HTTPS enabled. UPnP disabled. L2TP disabled.Firewall disabled. Block WAN Requests disabled.
we are using Cisco RV042 router with i guess V3 hardware version, latest driver version (4.2.1.02). We changed the username and password from admin, default, to another name and password. Since then, we are able to log in only once, once the router is restarted. If we leave the page, logout or after several hours after boot, we wont be able to log to web administration again. We enter username, password, submit, the image keeps spinning, but nothing happens.
my RV042. The main login password has expired but it will not let me change it at all. Basically I try to login but get the error 'The old password has expired. Please change the password'. But with no prompt at all for a new password and just a return to the login page. Tried various different browsers, tried the old default password but nothing will work. There seems to be no way of changing it and I cannot login.
I really don't want to reset it to default as I have numerous VPN tunnels configured and various other settings.
My organization has deployed 3 Cisco RV042 (v3) at our 3 sites. They have been working pretty well up until about a week ago. One of them continues to route traffic and perform port-forwarding, but the VPN has completely stopped working and I can no longer access the web administration interface. I get the standard login page, but any attempt to login (with correct or incorrect password) takes maybe 5 minutes with a spinning status icon, followed by a blank page leaving the browser at: url...
I have the router logs e-mailed to me, and I can see that the system boots up with Jan 1 2010 as the system date, but it eventually gets the correct date from NTP, so I'm doubting this is causing the problem.
These were working for months prior to this happening, and even a reboot of the affected RV042 does not allow me to log into it or setup the VPN tunnels. I have found similar threads on this forum: url...
I'm attempting to configure remote management (and, sometime soon, SNMP) for a newly-deployed WRVS4400N v.2.At the Basic Settings page, I enabled Remote Management, and left the port # at the default. Remotely I entered the public (static) IP for the router in the address bar of IE8 similar to this: 67.203.???.??:8080. IE8's response is, "The webpage cannot be displayed." I'm using a public wi-fi access point, and don't know how the local router is configured, so it's possible that the local router has a blocking rule in the firewall.I'll try again using another remote router that I manage.
I'm have serveral issues with my router.First, using port 8090, I'm unagle to get remote management of the router.Port 8090 is forwarded to the router 192.168.1.10 I have other issues too, I think the router is blocking my FTP conenction to my NDAS drives.I wish the router would show the UPnP port that are autoamtically added t othe system.Port 80 works well going to my NDAS drives.Firewall, DoS Blocking WAN are all turned off.
I have a Belkin N150 wireless router. I have enabled MAC Address Filtering as an added level of security. However; whenever I access the router, and if I check that page; the check mark for the option to enable the filter is always blank.
I have checked the option, clicked Apply Changes, and logged out of the router. i went back in this morning, to check the security logs. (Looking like someone is trying to jump on my network) I didn't see anything there, but when I checked MAC Address Filtering; there was no check mark indicating that the filter was turned on.
I have a RV082.I need to disable the firewall, since firewalling is done better elsewhere. However disabling firewall Remote management on wan ip is forcefully enabled.I don't need Remote management, keeping it enabled is a security risk for my setup.I don't understand the rationale behind the choice to forcefully enable remote management if firewall is disabled. Is there a way to disable both firewall and remote management?Or at least a workaround?
I'm on firmware 2.0.0.19-tm on a probably v2 hardware. (Cannot find this info in the web configuration). This is not the newest even for v2 hw but I cannot afford to break it trying to upgrade the firmware. Moreover no release notes for firmware releases refers to a correction of firewall/remote management behavior. Is this behavior also in newer firmware releases?
i provide 192.168.1.201 and port No.8150 in CP Plus DVR . I am able to login through Local system via IE with [URL] after pressing enter key Login window appears. I just purchased 5 RV220W to act as internet/wireless router at a remote site. There is no VPN, just LAN and Wireless routing to the internet.I have setup remote management and it works fine when I am directly connected to the internet. However, everytime I try to connect through our HTTP/HTTPs proxy farm, it usually fails. Specificially, I get the log-in page and can log in. It starts to render the landing page but redirects to a page stating "Your session has been terminated." On rare instances the first page will appear, however within a few clicks I end up with the same terminated page.
As a test, I bypassed the farm and forced my browser to use one proxy exclusively. At that point I could access the HTTPS interface with no issue. I have not had any issues with other SSL sites with the proxy configuration in use.Is there some sort of MITM prevention I could be running into? If so, can it be turned off.I am new to the RV-series of routers. Is there any logging I could turn on that would provide insight on why the session may be getting terminated?
I have 25 of these routers installed behind various providers and transport (DSL, Cable, UVerse). At sites where I have static IP, I can't reach any service inside, and in fact can't even reach the router for Remote Management. At all times the users indoes can do whtever they like, the have Internet access.
At sites where we draw a dynamic IP or use PPPoE, I can reach services and manage the router until a known issue stops the inbound traffic.
I have configured a VPN tunnel between two remote locations using static IP addresses on two RV042 routers. The tunnel seems to work but the problem is that when the two hosts attempt to ping each other only one can successfully ping. One PC with IP address 192.168.1.100 can ping across the network but the second PC with IP address 192.168.2.100 cannot. These are laptops seperate from the intranet used to test the tunnel. Someone had suggested NAT may be the issue so I enabled NAT Transverse on the routers but still no luck. The following is the results from a ping test.
PC 1 ping 192.168.2.1
Pinging 192.168.2.1 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.2.1: bytes=32 time=116ms TTL=63 [Code] ......
I recently replaced a Netgear router with a RV042 because I figured out my Netgear was choking my 24MB Uverse connection down to about 6MB. I had VPN setup with my business partner who was already using an RV042 and everyting works fine. However after I setup the RV042 on my side we have not been able to get the VPN up. The settings are as follows
Local Group Local Security Gateway Type: IP Only Local Security Group Type : Subnet IP Address: 192.168.0.0 Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Remote Group Remote Security Gateway Type: IP Only remote Security Group Type : Subnet IP Address: 10.0.0.0 [Code]....
After finishing all of my projects here at work, I decided to finally take a look at a sf300-08 that was left by my predecessor. I almost got into it once via browser but the UI crashed. So I downloaded the manual and proceeded to connect to the switch via rs-232. When I get to the log in screen I cant type anything in and when I try hypterterminal crashes.
I go into my login page and all I see is blank. Just a white screeb. I have put in my IP address, I have no idea what I should do. I have been trying to fnd my password but the page has no login.
Ive formatted the sd card, enabled video/image recording, but no files show up on the sd management screen. I tried to select a folder to save the files to from the live video screen, but nothing pops up/opens when I click on the folder button. I'm using the google chrome browser w the latest java update on an xp box.
I am trying to limit HTTP access to my server on the local network to a specific IP address. I create an Access Rule in the firewall section, however that doesn't work. The only way it works is if I add the internal IP address of the server to the Forwarding section where I create a new HTTP forwarding rule. However, that is not good because that allows ALL HTTP traffic to that server instead of just by the single IP address.
I have a problem with my WAN ports. I can´t obtain a ip adress from my ISP. I´ve tried factory reset. Upgrade to lateset firmware. Clone MAC adress from my PC. Nothing is working.
But when I plug the WAN port into my Old router it receives an adress directly. When I plug the ISP connection directly into my pc or the old router it´s working as well.
I am using the latest firmware: RV0XX-v4.1.0.02-tm.bin
And My ISP has an interface with an ADSL modem SmartAX with DHCP.
I would like to allow PING on RV042 from WAN side only from specific IP address, but when I set the rule, RV042 does not respond on WAN side, because Block WAN Request is Enabled.BUT! When I disable "Block WAN Requests", now any IP can ping my router from WAN side. Although I set access rule to Deny Ping from WAN side to anyone, it still responds.
I tried to log in into my EA4500 today, and instead of the simple window that asks for the user name and password, I am getting a Cisco Connect Cloud log in screen. It is very strange.
At the top it says: Cisco Connect Cloud/Powering Linksys Products
and below that:
Sign In If you have not yet created an account, click the 'Create Account' button in the upper right corner of the page
There is a help button, a button to create an account. There is a place where I can enter an email address and a password.
Pressing the Help button I learned that I can probably bypass this silly screen by disconnecting the internet. Is there a better way to bypass this screen and turn off Cisco Connect Cloud?
I just got a new RV042. V3 Hw.For setup and testing before putting it in action, I've attached the WAN1 side to my internal network. But it fails to get an IP address, and the log shows: "Infinite lease time, exiting".My current router on the LAN is giving out DHCP addresses with 3 hour lease time, and I've checked with the PC's on the LAN that this is correct. The routers DHCP status shows that the lease time for the RV042 is 3 hours ahead. So why does the RV042 complain about long lease time ?Is there a way to avoid this error from occurring?
I have tried to change from 'Gateway' to 'Router', but this does not change anything. Also tried a factory reset, with no luck.Fw is upgraded to the latest 4.0.4.02
is it possible to eliminate the the guest login screen from being displayed/required to acess router from an added device(like a smart tv with a web browser)?router is an e2500,approx.
I have a RV042 using (for now), just the single WAN interface. I am trying to forward all packets to port 9000 from the WAN to a single IP address on the network. I've set up both forwarding rules under Setup -> Forwarding and under the Firewall -> Access Rules.I cannot connect to my device from the outside world, however. Is there something I'm missing?
