Cisco Routers :: Allow PING On RV042 From WAN Side Only From Specific IP Address?

Nov 27, 2012

I would like to allow PING on RV042 from WAN side only from specific IP address, but when I set the rule, RV042 does not respond on WAN side, because Block WAN Request is Enabled.BUT! When I disable "Block WAN Requests", now any IP can ping my router from WAN side. Although I set access rule to Deny Ping from WAN side to anyone, it still responds.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 - How To Direct Traffic Through Specific Wan Port

Can this even be done with this router? If so, the how? Use rate control or priority? Does checking a wan port mean that it will only go through that port?

Cisco Routers :: RV042 - How To Close All Ports And Leave Some Specific Open

Apr 18, 2012

A company with 20 branches in Rio de Janeiro area. The main servers are in a datacenter located in downtown.Each branch has a RV042 router with firmware version 1.3.12.19-tm (Feb 13 2009 13:03:21) installed.All users in this network have a proxy configuration pointing to proxy.[blah].com.br port 3128.the HTTP/HTTPS traffic should go through proxy only. [code] Some "smart" users were caught using Ultrasurf application, which changes the proxy settings to go through port 9666 or even 443.In other machines, we've found some black proxies [for example: 212.46.27.142 port 8080].

My objective:

- To close all ports in Firewall -> Access Rules section and grant permission only to some selected and specified ports.

- To redirect all HTTP/HTTPS connections to go to proxy's IP address only.

Which Access Rules can I set in these RV042s in order to block and prevent these users to continue abusing this network?The users who were caught using Ultrasurf were fired.

Cisco Routers :: ICMP (ping) Protocol Binding With The RV042?

Aug 7, 2011

Is it possible to use protocol binding to route pings only over the WAN1 connection, even if WAN1 fails? It seems like the protocol binding feature of the Linksys RV042 is ignored once WAN1 fails.  I would like to use a ping from the LAN to an external IP to verify if the WAN1 connection is down, or is up and then use that information to power up, or power down a secondary communications system (WAN2).  However, if the protocol binding is ignored when WAN1 fails, then I will not be able to use the ping to establish the state of WAN1 connection. Addtionally, is it possible to use protocol binding to only route pings and allow all other traffic to use either WAN connection? I have seen these feautures on a different brand of router that failsover to a cell connection, but it is not a true dual WAN router. It would be nice if the RV042 would allow this kind of control. Are there any other dual WAN routers out there that have this kind of protocol binding feature?

Cisco Routers :: Quickvpn / Client To Gateway Vpn Rv042 Can Only Ping Router?

Jan 27, 2012

I am setting up remote access using an RV042 router.  Using quickvpn or a client-to gateway vpn and shrewsoft client,  I can only access/ping the LAN side of the remote router and one machine on the remote network.  The PPTP server and native Windows 7 connection provide access to all machines on the remote network.I have 2 possible reasons for this and would like to find the real reason:

1) The remote RV042 is behind another router, and that router restricts access other than the PPTP traffic.

2)  The VPN tunnels other than PPTP only allow access to the remote LAN side of the router and remote machines that have the remote router defined as their gateway in the IP configuration.

Routers / Switches :: Rate Limit On Specific Port From Specific Range?

Is there a way to configure our HP 5406 with an absolute rate limit on "WAN" port for that server's IP range? I would like to limit it to only being capable of sending 1Mbps worth of traffic over the head end at once.Everything in the documentation points towards priority queues, which as far as I can tell, isn't really what I want.Baring accomplishing this goal using rate limiting is there a better way to prevent our services from accidentally saturating this connection?i thimkong about somthing like that:

class ipv4 rate-limit-port-A1
match ip 10.136.0.0/16 any
exit
policy qos port-a1-ratelimit
class servers-to-be-slowed action rate-limit kbps 1000
exit
interface A1 service-policy port-a1-ratelimit inI'm not sure about this.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA And UC540 Side-by-side Traffic?

Mar 17, 2013

I'm trying to setup an ASA and a UC540 side by side, to utilize the ASA for data networking and the UC540 for voice. This 'should' work fine, I just seem to be having an issue where the ASA seems to be blocking traffic from the voice network as it passes through.So here is the LAN setup:ASA: 1.1.1.1UC540: 1.1.1.2The UC has a voice vlan 10.1.1.1/24 and a service module at 10.1.10.1/30My PC uses the ASA as its default gateway, 1.1.1.1The ASA then has static routes to the UC networksRoute 10.1.1.1/24 1.1.1.2Route 10.1.10.1/30 1.1.1.2Ping from PC to the UC networks works fine. However, ping from the UC networks to PC fails. ASA logs show traffic being denied due to not having an established connection or something.My guess is that the traffic is being blocked because the egress and ingress paths are different? Traffic from the PC goes to the ASA, then gets routed to the UC and it works. However in the other direction, traffic from the UC is going directly to the PC and bypassing the ASA, because its a directly connected network and doesn't have to route through the ASA to get to the PC. The reply traffic from the PC DOES go through the ASA following its route table, thus the issue of the ASA not seeing the established connection?Same-security inter and intra interface is enabled.So I think I see the issue, I just don't know how to fix it. Is there something I can configure on the ASA to allow for this? My only other option would be to configure a /30 on a new vlan to handle the routing between the UC and ASA or something, but that seems like its going to make this simple setup way too complicated with extra networks, vlans, trunks, etc.I am running ASA version 8.4.5?
