Cisco Routers :: RV220W Missing PPPoE Service Name Option

Jan 13, 2013

Recently I bought RV220W router and found out that PPPoE connection option or profile do no have service name field at all. Unfortunately, my ISP requires this to be able to connect. I had done some research before buying this router by going through online device manager demos on cisco website. RV220's interface is not available, but RV215 is and I checked out some of the common features between both routers. Surprisingly RV215's PPPoE connection settings has service name option.

I suppose, unless there is new firmware update (my current router is already running the latest available firmware), this option cannot be added in the interface. What I want to know is, is there any way to configure the router to use the service name in PPPoE option or in PPPoE profiles? I don't think RV220W can be accessed via terminal/SSH or maybe even terminal.

Cisco Routers :: RV220W Upgraded To Firmware 1.0.1.0 And Now PPPoE Doesn't Connect

Mar 30, 2011

When my RV220W used firmware 1.0.0.26 the PPPoE login to AT&T/Bellsouth DSL worked just fine. I upgraded to version 1.0.1.0 and now it won't connect. The PPPoE connection still works from my prior Linksys router so there wasn't a change on the ISP side. Has something changed in firmware 1.0.1.0 that requires a change to the PPPoE profile?

Cisco Routers :: RV220W One-to-One NAT Only Allows A Single Service?

Sep 16, 2012

Just purchased an RV220W for a customer to replace a WRVS4400N that had no support for One-to-One NAT and have found the One-to-one NAT for this router is only marginally better.

I have three WAN addresses and three devices to map them to. With the RV0xx I've used the following configuration over a dozen times.

WAN Address 1 - the router's public address Port forward HTTP, HTTPS, and SMTP to Windows Small Business Server 2011 Email and Remote Web Access are accessible at remote.company.com

WAN Address 2 One-to-one NAT to private IP address of Ubuntu Server Add the following access rules: Deny allAllow HTTP from any to private IP address of serverAllow SSH from my company's static IP to private IPAllow FTP from my company's static IP to private IPCompanies website is accessible at company.com and I can update the website with SSH and FTP

WAN Address 3 One-to-one NAT to private IP address of the Hyper-V server's Intel RMM module (Lights out remote management) Add the following access rules: Deny allAllow HTTP, HTTPS, and all RMM ports from my company's static to the RMM modules private IPI can access server at rmm.company.com from my companies network connection

My problems are as follows:

The One-to-one NAT option now requires you to specify the service you'd like to forward (Note: service, not services)If you select the Any service which is the only way I can see to have more than one service, there is no way to add any specific Allow or Deny rules because the Destination box is grayed out on the access rules page. This results in my Ubuntu server only having HTTP forwarded to it and my RMM module having all ports opened up to any IP address. There must be some way around this! I don't understand why the Destination IP option is greyed out for all Inbound access rules. I have been using this same configuration with the Cisco RV0xx, many Sonicwall firewalls, as well as several Cisco ASAs. Obviously this is not an ASA but this implementation of One-to-one NAT is useless!

Cisco Routers :: RV220W Port VLANS - Missing Feature In Newer Firmware

Nov 11, 2012

From an older manual it describes how to configure this. I installed the oldest firmware available for download and this feature is there. Was this just simply moved somewhere else in the newer firmware?

Configuring Port VLANs
You can associate VLANS on the Cisco RV220W to the LAN ports on the device.
By default, all 4 ports belong to VLAN1. You can edit these ports to associate them

WLAN Option Missing From Billion 7800N?

Jul 20, 2012

I recently came home from work to find the safety switch on our house had activated causing half of our house to be without power...including our modem. It wiped all my settings...no big deal...I've entered them all back in again. But now I am no longer able to establish a connection to my laptops... The Wireless WPS light will not come back on the router no matter how many times I turn it off/on or reset it... When I go into the page to establish properties etc for the modem...the WLAN option doesn't even appear anymore. but they were at a complete loss also as to why the option wasn't there..

Share Internet Option Suddenly Missing From AdHoc

Jul 19, 2012

A couple hours ago, I set up a temporary AdHoc to share or "tether" the internet connection from a laptop (which got its internet from a router), to my iPod Touch. It worked fine and everything, in fact I was pleasantly surprised by the speed of it. Since it was a temporary AdHoc, I disconnected, and the network was deleted as expected. After a while I wanted to do it again, but when I tried to make the AdHoc, the option to "Share Internet Connection" has disappeared. I'm really puzzled as it worked just a while back, and now even the option is gone. Did some research on it and found out that it's some weird bug that had never been addressed. It had to do with the LAN and Wireless network adapters apparently and one of them had to have the ICS option checked and the other one didn't (something like that). Here are the screenshots of those settings on both my network adapters. Both adapters are enabled, except the LAN isn't "connected" since my primary way of getting internet is through a router connected to another computer.

Cisco Routers :: RV180W PPPoE Not Connecting

Feb 18, 2013

I am located in UK which uses PPoA for ADSL broadband. I use a DrayTek Vigor120 ADSL2 Modem to act as an ADSL bridge and PPoA to PPPoE converter. This passes the ADSL authentication requirement  (and subsequent single static IP address) to the Cisco Small Business RV180W sitting behind the Draytek. However, the RV180 (Firmware Version 1.0.0.30) cannot form the PPPoE connection. I have tested the modem, adsl username and password by creating a PPPoE interface on my computer and connecting this directly to the Draytek modem. The computer receives the expected IP address and I can ping remote public IPs. I have entered the username and password into the PPPoE profile,

Authentication type: CHAP (confirmed by ISP but I have also tried all other options just in case).
Connection Type: Keep Connected.
MTU Size: 1400 (also tried default, which worked OK on computer interface).
MAC Address Source: Use Default (I have successfully used combined modem/router so a "fixed" MAC address is not required).

Cisco Routers :: RV180 Will Not Connect To ISP Using PPPoE

Mar 17, 2013

The RV180W would not connect to an AT&T DSL connection using PPPoE (modem in bridge mode), or behind the DSL Modem/router with the DSL modem/router providing a dynamic IP to the RV180W or a cable modem (TimeWarner Roadrunner dynamic IP).  I upgraded the firmware yesterday and now the RV180W will connect to a dynamic WAN IP, but it still will not connect using PPPoE.

I have also noticed the admin interface is only accessible about 75% of the time.  When going to 192.168.1.1 the login prompts either don't come up or if they do, after logging in, the screen never fully loads after that.  I have to reboot the router to get it to work.

Also, the router has not yet pulled DNS from either the DSL or the cable modem.  I had to manually enter those addresses.

Cisco Routers :: RV180 PPPoE Not Working

Oct 15, 2012

My RV180 does not route properly between LAN and WAN through my PPPoE account. I am able to ping public IPs directly from the RV180 (through the diagnose section) but can not do it from any PC on LAN. The exact same configuration works perfectly well with a Linksys WTR610N. I upgraded formware from 1.0.0.30 to 1.0.1.9 but that did not make any difference.

The only time the RV180 will route is right after I reset to factory defaults and re-enter PPPoE account name and password. If I then reset my modem or the RV180, the RV180 does not route anymore between WAN and LAN even after several minutes and even though I can ping public IPs from the RV180.

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Cannot Establish PPPoE But PC Can

Jun 17, 2012

I have a RV042 and want to establish one WAN connection via PPPoE. I enter Username and Password, Keep Alive, MTU=Auto. The router does not get an IP address (0.0.0.0) and the log says: "[pppoe] sending PADI", "last message repeated 5 times". What is confusing me is that a PC connected to the RV042 (and a DSL-Router operating in Modem-Mode "PPPoE Pass-Through") can establish a PPPoE connection with the same Username and Password. Why can the PC connect via PPPoE, but the RV042 can not?
