Cisco Routers :: SRP526 VLAN Trunking For AP With Multiple SSIDs

Feb 17, 2013

Getting a AIR-AP1141N to work with an existing SRP526.

The SRP has two VLANs and two SSIDS

- VLAN1      - Corporate Wireless
- VLAN100  - Guest Wireless

So far so good. Now we need to extend the Range of the Wireless and bought an AIR-AP1141N. And this AccessPoint works like a charm, BUT only with one SSID,

I configured in the Port Management Area of the SRP526 both VLANs on one Port and configured the Access Point for multiple SSID use, but i don't get an IP from the DHCP Server Range of the VLAN100.

Could it be possible, that die Access Point can not get the tag Information?

Cisco Wireless :: 1242AG Bridge / VLAN And Multiple SSIDs?

Oct 22, 2012

I have two buildings that I'm trying to configure a bridge in between them using 2 1242AG APs.

Building A
PCOFFICE SSID on VLAN 200 Radio G
ROOT_1 SSID on Native VLAN 1 Radio A
Root Bridge

Building B
FDAPC SSID on Native VLAN 1 Radio G
ROOT_1 SSID on Native VLAN 1 Radio A

We are using directional antenna.  I know they are lined up properly because I have them both down and in front of me.  I'm getting an error on the Building B AP that says " No SSID with VLAN configured. Dot11Radio1 not started." and I'm unable to get this to work.  The bridge was working before I added the VLAN and encryption/WPA information for the PCOFFICE and FDAPC SSIDs

Cisco :: 877W-K9 How To Enable Multiple SSIDs On AP Whilst Keeping Them All To Same VLAN

Aug 23, 2011

I have a Cisco 877W-K9 router, and I for the life of me can not work out how to enable multiple SSIDs on the AP whilst keeping them all to the same VLAN?

I know this may seem silly but basically for our clients we setup WPA-Enterprise for one SSID and WPA-PSK for the other to help ease migration between the two etc, however all I can seem to do at the moment is create multiple VLANs and use ip unnumbered vlan1 to sync them all into one, but this seems really silly.

Cisco Wireless :: WLC 5508 Multiple Interfaces For Multiple SSIDs

May 13, 2013

I am trying to build a new network from scratch, I have the WLC 5508 w/ Aironet 3600e APs connected to my Netgear Smart Switches and a Linksys RV082 router that I'm using as my DHCP server with several VLANs for several stuff on my Switches.

I have 2 questions:

1. Can I have 5 Interfaces configured on 5 different VLANs, each SSID on each a different Port:

Port 1: Controller management only=> 192.168.x.x /24
Port 2: SSID 1: WiFi Internal=> 172.16.x.x/12 (Radius Auth with no sharing)
Port 3: SSID 2: WiFi Internal w/ sharing=> 192.168.x.x/24 (Radius Auth with sharing)
Port 4 :SSID 3: WiFi Guest=> 10.0.x.x/8 (Web Auth)
Port 5: SSID 4: WiFi IT=> 192.168.x.x/24 ( Radius or certificate Auth with access to the controller management interface)

2. How can I use the Controller as the DHCP server for all the WiFi traffic, and how should that be configured to work with my other DHCP server?

Cisco Routers :: SRP526 Slow Internet After A While?

Jan 24, 2012

Recently I placed an Cisco SRP 526W, but this modem is acting quite strange. I have configured an ADSL connection, some NAT forwardings and a VPN tunnel, all of this is working fine. When the Cisco is booted and running, everything runs smooth. Internet is working nice, I can connect over the VPN tunnel to the internal network and so on. The problem is that after a while, mostly after a day or two days, internet browsing is showing problems. IE can't display the page and I have to refresh 1 on 2 times to reach te webpage. I can't connect over the VPN tunnel to the internal network or the internal ip-address of the router, the router is not responding on ping request on the internal ip and external ip. The NAT forwardings are still responing though.

After a reboot everything is running fine again, but I can't let my customer reboot his router each day.

From the ZyXEL modem/routers we used to place at our customers I know the NAT table runs full and I had to use a greater value

Cisco Wireless :: Configure WAP4410N With Multiple SSIDS

Jan 10, 2012

I need to configure a WAP4410N for use on a small, very simple business network.  There should be a corporate WLAN and a guest WLAN.  The corporate WLAN should allow anyone connectd to it to access resources on the domain.

In front of the WAP is a cable modem/router and a basic Level 2 (web managed) switch.  What do i have to do to segregate the corporate and guest networks.

I thought I would add the corporate WLAN to VLAN1 (assuming the default VLAN in the switch is VLAN1).  Then I figured I could create the guest WLAN and assign it to VLAN2 which which will be controlled entirely by the 4410N (DHCP, DNS, etc.)  Does this sound like the right way of going about things?

Cisco Wireless :: 1252 - Create Multiple SSIDs?

Sep 10, 2012

Currently my company has 1 primary SSID that is used throughout both floors of the building. We have 1252 LAPs which have 2.4 and 5Ghz antennas. I'm not sure if this issue is only with XP or perhaps it's the computer's drivers but we run into problems with end users going to a different location and having a very weak signal or nothing at all, yet coverage is fine. I believe the problem is the end user's machine selecting the strongest signal and it I have the feeling that switching bands isn't being done as it should when it's in range. So my question,

Should I split up our 1 SSID and created multiple SSIDs according to the location and include 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz in the SSID name so it's easier to ensure that users are connected to the proper signal? I want to ask if multiple SSIDs would still enable users to freely roam (as long as the ssids are configured) throughout the building without noticing a loss of signal but currently just having 1 SSID isn't really enabling people to freely roam around without connection issues.I don't believe having multiple SSIDs will be useful for the computer's choose their connection any more efficiently but allowing the user to manually see what they're connected to and pick something better according to their location.

Cisco Switches :: SG-200 To 887 Setup Trunking Between These 2 Devices For Multiple VLANs

Mar 28, 2012

We have a Cisco 887 router and a Cisco SG-200 switch. We'd like to setup trunking between these 2 devices for multiple VLANs on the switch to be made available on the router.

With previous routers, you could set the router up in the configuration 'router-on-a-stick' and VLANs worked like a charm but the 887 no longer support sub-interfaces.So how can you get trunking working between the 2 devices?

Is there a VTP configuration menu for the SG-200 which we can setup in order for it to talk 'VTP' with the 887 router??

Cisco Firewall :: ASA VLan Trunking To 3750?

Oct 24, 2011

I have a rather large network with multiple VLANs and routing.  Here's the layout:

5540 subinterface = gi0/2.18 = 10.16.18.1/24 TRUNKED to a 2960
2960 has an interface set to VLAN 18 (no IP) goes to a Cisco 4507 with an int. set to VLAN 18 (no IP)
4507 then has a trunk to a Cisco 7206
7206 then trunks to a Cisco 3845
3845 trunks to a 3750 (single)
3750 (single) trunks to a 3750 Stack
3750 Stack has int. set to VLAN 18 that goes to a 3750(lab) w/ int set to VLAN 18 w/ IP 10.16.18.251/24, VLAN502 = 10.202.255.1/30,
VLAN510 = 10.203.255.1/30
3750(lab) then has a trunk that connects to ASA 5510 w/ subinterfaces:  e0/1.18 = 10.16.18.253/24, e0/1.510 = 10.203.255.2/30, e0/1.502 = 10.202.255.2/30
ASA5510 then goes to Internet

Any trunks are set to allow all VLANs.  From the 2960 to the 3750 stack it's obviously all Layer 2 with trunking.

Issue:If I sit at the 5540, I can ping 10.16.18.251 and .253 with no problems.  I can also ping 10.203.255.1 with no problems.  Problem is that I cannot get to the other subinterfaces on the 5510 for VLANs 502 and 510.  How do I ensure that my trunk is set up right?  I have a route in the 5540 pointing to the 10.203 and 10.202 using the 10.16.18.251 address.  It seems like a traceroute gets to the 10.16.18.251 address but then it stops.  What route should be on the 5510 to make sure it gets back?  The default route on the 5510 points to the Outside. I think it's something to do with the trunk that's just something I don't understand yet.

5510:
show int ip bri:
Ethernet0/1.18             10.16.18.253   YES manual up                    up
Ethernet0/1.502            10.202.255.2   YES manual up                    up
Ethernet0/1.510            10.203.255.2   YES manual up                    up

Cisco Wireless :: Configure ASA 5505 And Aironet 1140 Multiple SSIDs?

Jan 10, 2012

I am in the process of installing an Aironet 1140 standalone AP. I have not worked with these AP's before. I will be connecting it to one of the PoE ports on the existing ASA 5505. My goal is to have 2 SSID's, one for internal network and one for guest internet only, no access to internal LAN. I want to have the internal wifi clients and the guest clients on seperate IP networks. The internal clients obtain DHCP from the existing server and use the ASA DHCP server for the guest clients. And of course, I would like the ability to manage the AP from the internal network. I am providing copies of my current configs for both the ASA and Aironet.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Are E3200 Multiple SSIDs Diff LANs

Nov 28, 2011

I just got the E3200 and it's a pretty good router. Configured it to have 1 SSID as the 5Ghz SSID and the other as the 2.4 Ghz SSID. Since there are 2 SSIDs broadcasted, I was expecting machines connected to each distinct SSID to not be able to see each other, ie expecting the 5Ghz SSID to be a private LAN1 and the 2.4 Ghz SSID to be LAN2? It turns out machines on either SSID can see each other, so it looks like it on 1 big LAN even though there are 2 SSIDs.Doesn't a SSID map to a unique LAN even though they are in the same router?

Cisco Wireless :: Aironet AP-1041N Setting To Have Access Point Broadcast Multiple SSIDs

My problems is when i config router to have a DHCP address it works perfectly fine but when i assign a static IP it shows all the any connected device as unkown with IP 0.0.0.0. So i'm guessing i will need to setup a dhcp server. Is there a way access point can have its own DHCP server and IP address ( i don't want to use any from my STATIC ip subnet as i dont know alot of empty ones left) like home wifi router where they assign each device an IP like 192.168.0.1. Is this possible?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: HP ProCurve 5406 VLAN Trunking To 3560

Jan 12, 2010

I have a HP Procurve 5406 connected to a Cisco 3560 on a temporary cat5e connection and I have Mitel IP phones needing to go on the Cisco switch.Ive configured the HP Procurve port to TAGGING both VLAN 10 (data) and VLAN 20 (Voice). NO is selected for default VLAN 1.The Cisco is configured on the port with switchport encap dot1q and switchport mode trunk.

Ive configured an IP for interface VLAN 10 and i cannot ping it from across the network. The interfaces are up and happy. I have tried changing the VTP status from transparent to server (VTP pruning is off) ive tried setting allowed vlans 10,20. Still not a think. The worse thing is that i have a working Cisco switch with the HP procurve that i checked the config on and its the same! The only difference is that the media type is SX over SFP in that case.

p.s not that im at this stage yet but i initially configure the FastE ports as trunks with native vlans because i was using non-cisco phones. On a spare port i convigured the voice vlan 20 and i say on the mitel phone that it was looking on vlan20! I didnt expect that, i thought the Voice VLAN ID was carried on CDP enabled devices only.

Linksys Wired Router :: Vlan Trunking 2960 And 2950 Switches

Feb 18, 2011

I have a number of class-'c's as a hand-off from my data center fiber to my 2960, which then sprawls the racks with about many 2950 switches, mostly 20 machines per switch. To allow machines on one 2950 to push data to another 2950 without routing back to my ISP's router(which costs money for bandwidth) isn't is possible to trunk one port on each 2950 to another 2950 and adding a addititional vlan8 to them. Then data jumps from 2950 to 2950 without going back to the 2960 or mainly not going back to my ISP's router.  Is this the correct way to accoplish this with extra vlan and trunking the 2950's to each other or am I looking at this all wrong?

Cisco Routers :: RV180 - Setting Up VLANs For Wireless APs With Two SSIDs

Mar 19, 2013

I am trying to setup a RV180 and 3 wireless access points. I want the AP's to have 2 ssids that are isolated from each other. IE guest network and main network. I have setup VLAN's and my AP's support 802.1q and have ssid's with matching VID's. I was able to get this to work basically, but things seem to have gotten confusing when I plug the AP's into a POE switch instead of directly into the rv180. At this point I'm not sure exactly waht to ask. Maybe start by providing basic info on how I'm supposed to do this. I was under the impression that since both devices support 802.1q I could configure the VLANs on the router, and tell the AP's to apply a VID to the SSID and thing would work. This isn't the case unfortunately.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5505 / Multiple Interfaces In Outside VLAN?

Feb 12, 2013

This is for an ASA 5505 with the base license...I have a situation where I will not have one interface in my outside VLAN, but instead I want to have interfaces 1-7 in my outside VLAN and interface0/0 in my inside VLAN.

Is this supported with the Base license, and if so how would I do this?  Do I still just need to assign one IP address to the outside VLAN?

Or will I need to upgrade to the Security Plus license and put each interface in a separate outside VLAN, so in essence I would have 7 outside VLANs each with the same security level (0)?

My situation is that I have several partner networks that i want to "aggregate" thru my one ASA 5505.  So each outside interface represents a separate partner (outside) network, each of which I want to get to from my inside network.  Hence the many outside to one inside.
