I have bought 2 new ASA5505 with SmartNet contract. I already have my 2 SmarNet contract number. Now I want to add these 2 contracts to my TAC account, so I can have support for my 2 new products. My TAC account already have 1 SmartNet contract for another device I have.What is the procedure to add my SmartNet contract to my account?
View 2 RepliesWe purchased an ASA 5505 (ASA5505-BUN-K9) and more recently purchased the license to upgrade it from 10 to 50 users (L-ASA5505-10-50). I would like to provide remote access to users via AnyConnect - specifically, AnyConnnect on Windows plus the iPhone/iPad and Android versions. My understanding is that I should purchase the Anyconnect Essentials (L-ASA-AC-E-5505) and Anyconnect Mobile (L-ASA-AC-M-5505) licenses. Is this correct? If I do this, how many simultaneous remote access VPN connections (via Anyconnect clients) will the ASA then support?
Further, we did not initially purchase Smartnet with this device, but I would like to do so to gain access to software updates. Is there a site or document where I can locate the SKU #'s for Smartnet contracts that would be appropriate with our device?

On uploading the weekly updates of the site the process seems ok for a few minutes with progress bars showing uploading of files but then it all stops and I have to reset my wireless network adaptor 1703 and it continues but I can't just leave it to work on its own. Device manager says that the drivers are up to date but I'm fed up with having to nurse the adaptor. This didn't happen with previous computers.

I recently erased flash and loaded the latest asa841-k8.bin version of IOS along with asdm-642.bin. Everything booted fine and came up as it does when freshly wiped however I noticed that i was now only running a base license. If I issue the sh activiation-key command, I noticed the following messages (full output is at the bottom):

Did I somehow kill my Security Plus licensing when I did the erase flash? If so how do I recover it?

I see that for service updates, CON-SU1-AS1A10K9 is available for this product, providing "IPS Signature and Engine Updates" and "OS Updates."
It is my understanding that in the ASA5510-AIP10-K9 there are 2 OS:
1. ASA OS
2. AIP SSM-10 OS
My question is: Are both the ASA and AIP SSM-10 able to receive "OS updates" with this service contract? Essentially, I want to make sure that when I submit by budget, there isn't another contract that I also need.
I have a Cisco AIR-WLC2006-K9 in my Cisco lab where I work on my Cisco skills, I recently had the need to update the software on my WLAN controller but his is according to the website only available with a service contract. On trying to get a service contract I found that the device is EOL and EOS and ths no serrvice contract can be purchased for this device and hence no ability to download software for it. So here is my question, when a device is EOL and OES and service contract can no longer be acquired for a device why does Cisco not either open these up for download AS-IS or provide some kind of agreement for people like myself who have moslty EOL and EOS equipment in their labs where we can acquire the needed software to keep our skills sharp in an affordable way ?
View 0 Replies View RelatedI've had this dsl modem for a couple years now and have always to my knowledge been able to use it via only one ip number.i've been streaming video using webcamxp and other software/.today my modem began acting stupid by disconnecting once an hour and if I shut off pc of at all,i wind up having to manually reset the modem by unplugging it for a few seconds and then back in again.i eventually noticed that while the webcam is streaming video ,my lan connection on the pc shows the ip number i'm familiar with while my dsl modem shows one that's new(so to speak)..so I entered both ip numbers in to the webcamxp and found that the modem streams using either ip number..if I go to the what's my ipnumber site,it will display whichever number I have entered in to the webcamxp software//.is it normal for a modem to use 2 numbers as I don't believe this has occurred in my case before.i'm wondering if it has to do with the modem suddenly disconnecting now and then and too,having to reset it everytime I boot.i have att dsl ,no live landline just dead phone cord from the modem to the wall.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have ASA 5505 that has two inside security level 100 interfaces and an outside interface.On the inside interface we have corporate domain subnet with DC and 30 hosts. On the inside2 interface I have few servers that runs specific application important for our business needs, and dumb terminals that are connected to them.I have a laptop user that periodically needs access from our corporate vlan1 to one of the servers on inside 2 vlan via remote desktop or some other remote viewer client,so he can view reports etc.I have enabled same-security-traffic intra-interface command and added nat exempt command pointing specific laptop host machine to that specific server.
Now my main concern is regarding security. This user carries his laptop home, browses the web, puts USB memory, and you can imagine how this machine is susceptible to all kind of malicious software. Inside2 vlan is very important and until now it has been a very secure environment.This is no longer the case since all traffic between this inside sec level 100 vlan host and corresponding inside2 sec level 100 server is now allowed because of the enabled same level interface traffic and nat exemption rule. Do I have another solution that would allow communication based on just a tcp port number for this host? Something like port forwarding from outside to inside Vlan interface?
I save the configuration in the ASA 5505 using write memory or using copy run start but whe i unplug the power cord and plug it back in the ASA gets its factory default configuration.. then what i do is a copy start run to get the configuration active..

I have via the ASDM created a backup of the working units configuration, and now i want to load this configuration onto the second unit.I have connected the consiole cable up to the second unit and tried pasting in the contents of the configuration file but no joy.I want to ensure that my configuration will work on this unit before i configure the two units in Active/Passiove configuration.

I can remote into the network from outside, but internatlly I cannot get out of network. No internet or email is passing through.

I still can't access ASDM. I deleted the old ASDM versions and upgraded to ASDM 7.1(1)52 which shows compatible with ASA 8.2(1). I'm on an inside NAT address connected to Eth 0/5, 192.168.1.5/24. I can ping and SSH to the FW but no ASDM. Following is passing traffic and everything else works just fine.

I need to make a note of the serial numbers and Mac addresses for our inventory before I get these configured and sent out to their relavent destinations. The AP's have have arrived in boxes of 10 (75 boxes). The sticker on the box with the barcode is either covered with a postage sticker, ripped, or my scanner will not scan it becaise it is too small. There is a sticker with the serial bundle which is larger and therefore scanable. Is there a way that I can scan this and get the MAC address and serial number.
I know that this is not a technical question but I don't want too spend the next 3 weeks opening 75 boxes and removing each AP individually and recording it.
I want to know, if it is possible to create multiples BGP AS Numbers on a ASR1K6 Router or ASR9K6 Router.

My results are always between 3,000 and 9,000.A while back, I had an issue where all 130,000 connections were being used up. I configured a service policy to limit the number of connections between any two end points.
I'm monitoring the error logs and I'm noticing that my connection limit rule is being triggered on a regular basis. I receive the following message.Per-client connection limit exceeded 20000/20000 for output packet from x.x.x.x to x.x.x.x on interface outside
I'm confused as to the difference between the connections limited by my rule and the connections shown by "show conn count". why I never see any connections higher than 9,000 using "show conn count" yet I am seeing alerts stating that the firewall has reached 20000 connections?My firewall is an ASA5510 running.
