Cisco Infrastructure :: 750 - Serial Numbers And MAC Addresses
May 7, 2013
I am in the process of implementing 750 Cisco Access Points acros the business. I need to make a note of the serial numbers and Mac addresses for our inventory before I get these configured and sent out to their relavent destinations. The AP's have have arrived in boxes of 10 (75 boxes). The sticker on the box with the barcode is either covered with a postage sticker, ripped, or my scanner will not scan it becaise it is too small. There is a sticker with the serial bundle which is larger and therefore scanable. Is there a way that I can scan this and get the MAC address and serial number.
I know that this is not a technical question but I don't want too spend the next 3 weeks opening 75 boxes and removing each AP individually and recording it.

it's possible to retrieve Tengig interface serial numbers via CLI? We have a couple of them in 3750 switches, and we need them for our inventory.

just ran a discovery on a large network and found 49 wireless controllers (5500, 4400 and 2000 series) and none of them are showing the controller serial number. They are all running 7.0.235.0 and I found no bugs that match this issue.

I have larger numbers of WS-C3560X-24/24P/48 Cisco switches with1000BaseSX SFP GIBCs installed per switch in my network and they are all added to my DCR just fine. However, when i generate an inventory hardware report GBICs and GBICs serial number is not showing up. Is there any special settings i need to make?

Im trying to determine the serial number of Gbics already installed and running on a Catalyst 2950 switch. Is there a specific command to do so? There is a command on Catalyst 4506 that gives all info regarding the Gbic ("show idprom interface gi 1/1") Is there something equivalent for 2950?

Just want to ask if 4-port serial HWIC-4T is compatible for the Cisco 2801?We need additional HWIC for Fast Ethernet but the problem is we don't have already slot for it.We already have two HWIC-2T 2-port serial which is inserted at slot 1 and slot 3. We're planning to buy 4-port HWIC-4T so we can use the slot 3 for HWIC Fast Ethernet.if it's possible to have the 4-port serial HWIC-4T be inserted to Cisco 2801.

I am working on my CCENT after getting my A+. I have an old 3600 router and I am following CBT Nuggets to configure it. CBT Nuggets seems to have an IOS that supports VLAN and IP Addresses and it looks like mine only goes up to Token Ring so it doesn't mirror the instruction. I know it's an old router but is there a software release (like the 12.4 maybe?) that would allow me to follow the CBT Nuggets more accurately so that I can set the switch up for IP Addresses and VLAN instead of limiting me to token ring?

In setup for old RV042 (V1), when updating / adding Mac addresses, the table is always sorted by IP addresses. But in the new oneRV042 (V3) I have, even with latest firmware 4.2.1.02 the list is random, thereby increasing the chance of user entering DUPLICATE IP addr with diff Mac addr. That will result in conflict. If the firmware sorts the DHCP entries by ip addresses, user would be able to catch duplicate ip errors even if the system does not flag the errors. All Cisco smart engineers can you all get the dhcp entries SORT by ip addresses.

I've had this dsl modem for a couple years now and have always to my knowledge been able to use it via only one ip number.i've been streaming video using webcamxp and other software/.today my modem began acting stupid by disconnecting once an hour and if I shut off pc of at all,i wind up having to manually reset the modem by unplugging it for a few seconds and then back in again.i eventually noticed that while the webcam is streaming video ,my lan connection on the pc shows the ip number i'm familiar with while my dsl modem shows one that's new(so to speak)..so I entered both ip numbers in to the webcamxp and found that the modem streams using either ip number..if I go to the what's my ipnumber site,it will display whichever number I have entered in to the webcamxp software//.is it normal for a modem to use 2 numbers as I don't believe this has occurred in my case before.i'm wondering if it has to do with the modem suddenly disconnecting now and then and too, having to reset it everytime I boot.i have att dsl ,no live landline just dead phone cord from the modem to the wall.

I have a little experience in LAN management, solving basic connectivity issuesHowever, I am not strong theoretically. Particularly, when it comes to OSI reference model,I feel like I have understood the funda, but at the same time, I get lost, here and there,This is regarding the steps or processes involved, when one PC sends an email to another in a network,When I compose an email and hit enter, this is what I have understood. Each layer, starting from the application layer, passes the data and the control information to the layer below it, until the lowest layer is reached, from where, the actual transmission takes place via the physical medium. What are port numbers? How and when are port numbers chosen? Who takes the decision in choosing them?

I have a monitoring rule that checks the number of connections on the firewall using the following command: show conn count
My results are always between 3,000 and 9,000.A while back, I had an issue where all 130,000 connections were being used up. I configured a service policy to limit the number of connections between any two end points.
I'm monitoring the error logs and I'm noticing that my connection limit rule is being triggered on a regular basis. I receive the following message.Per-client connection limit exceeded 20000/20000 for output packet from x.x.x.x to x.x.x.x on interface outside
I'm confused as to the difference between the connections limited by my rule and the connections shown by "show conn count". why I never see any connections higher than 9,000 using "show conn count" yet I am seeing alerts stating that the firewall has reached 20000 connections? My firewall is an ASA5510 running.

I was thinking, is there a way to view a report on the configured numbers within CUCM? E.g. not only extension numbers but hunt pilots and other things such as that? Rather than manually going to each page.

I am trying to setup a translation rule that takes any three numbers that start with a 4.. and translate it to 14.. I have tried a few ways of what I thought would work but nothing is working.
Examples of what I have tried:
rule 2 /(...)/ /1.../
rule 2 /4../ /1.../
rule 2 /4../ /11/
This is the rule that I use to delete the 1 when traffic flows out of my voip system.
rule 1 /^1(...$)/ /1/

Is there a way to change interface numbers on a 3750 stack but, still retain the config of the physical port?
For instance:
I would like to take the top switch, which has the ports numbered g2/0/1 - 52 and change them to be g1/0/1 - 52. And the bottom switch, which has ports numbered g1/0/1 - 52 and change them to be g2/0/1 - 52. Basically, just swap the interface numbers but, not effect any interface configurations.

I've got a 3750 stack with a 3750-48p being switch 1 and a 3750-12s being switch 2 and switch 2 is the master. I would like to change the stack member numbers. I would like the 3750-12s to be switch 1 and the 3750-48p to be switch 2. I undertand I will have to reboot the stack for the change to take affect but here are my questions: How would this change affect the stack running-config ? will the switchport config follow the change ?

I run a website for a local football team using Serif Webplus X6. On uploading the weekly updates of the site the process seems ok for a few minutes with progress bars showing uploading of files but then it all stops and I have to reset my wireless network adaptor 1703 and it continues but I can't just leave it to work on its own. Device manager says that the drivers are up to date but I'm fed up with having to nurse the adaptor. This didn't happen with previous computers.

I have a remote site that is using port 4500 for within the isakmp phase of creating a IPSEC tunnel, but for some reason it is also using random port numbers constantly (in bold): [code] These are all blocked by the firewall when trying to communicate with our central router in the trusted network. The central router does not display the same symptoms, it only uses port 4500.Is there a way of preventing the remote router from using random port numbers and only allowed to use 4500??

I have a 3750 as core switch, adding 2 stacks of 2960S to connect. I want to establish etherchannel between the 3750 and each additonal 2960S stack, do the channel group numbers between the 3750 and the new 2960s have to match? 3750 has two channel-groups(1 and 2) already configured. Need to know, I would create 2 additional channel groups (number 3,4) for each of the etherchannels between the 3 2960S Stacks and 3750? OR channel-group # is local to the device.

I understand that IPv6 uses the MAC address of a LAN interface to make up the EUI-64 of a serial interface since serial interfaces don't have MACs. What happens when there is no LAN interface available? What if the switch has only serial interface cards?

Were bringing up a new site shortly and I'm trying to configure Serial0/0/0 which will be connected to an MPLS over 1.5m T1 line. I am basically doing a simular configuration as other sites where one of the ethernet interfaces is handed off from a fiber optic wan, but a T1 MPLS is connected to a WIC card and this provides a redundant path (though slower) in case of a fiber cut or equipment failure. This should be pretty straightforward but it appears as if I have no serial interface on this router. Card is in and everything, it is a VMIC-3-1MFT-T1/E1 in EHWIC 0.
