Cisco Wireless :: AIR-WLC2006K9 Service Contract Can No Longer Be Acquired For Device

I have a Cisco AIR-WLC2006-K9 in my Cisco lab where I work on my Cisco skills, I recently had the need to update the software on my WLAN controller but his is according to the website only available with a service contract. On trying to get a service contract I found that the device is EOL and EOS and ths no serrvice contract can be purchased for this device and hence no ability to download software for it. So here is my question, when a device is EOL and OES and service contract can no longer be acquired for a device why does Cisco not either open these up for download AS-IS or provide some kind of agreement for people like myself who have moslty EOL and EOS equipment in their labs where we can acquire the needed software to keep our skills sharp in an affordable way ?

I currently have 2 5505 SEC BUN as Primary/FO Firewalls and I am considering purchasing the ASA5510-AIP10-K9 for use as a dedicated IPS device. Looking at url... I see that for service updates, CON-SU1-AS1A10K9 is available for this product, providing "IPS Signature and Engine Updates" and "OS Updates."
It is my understanding that in the ASA5510-AIP10-K9 there are 2 OS:
1. ASA OS
2. AIP SSM-10 OS
My question is: Are both the ASA and AIP SSM-10 able to receive "OS updates" with this service contract? Essentially, I want to make sure that when I submit by budget, there isn't another contract that I also need.

I was having an issue with Comcast phone and internet services.Comcast had me disconnect and reconnect my modem and router. When service came back to normal one of my network connections was no longer available to me. I have two connections (one for use at my home which is a secured one) and one I use when I go to my sons home. My computer now only allows me to connect to a network called "Linksys" which may be available to the public. The connection I want to use shows up if I go to control Panel/View Network Status/Manage wireless network, and it is the first choice on the list, but the computer always uses the unsecured "Linksys". I'm afraid to do my banking over that network but I'm also afraid to start fooling with it and having no network. [code]

Was the op's problem sorted? I'm interested as I have exactly the same problem with my Panasonic VT50. I haven't changed anything but it connected fine earlier this morning and now stops at "check acquired IP address". I'm then told that the TV cannot acquire IP address. I'm not a very technical person so I don't really understand all this network business. All I know is that sometimes the TV will connect without a problem, as it did all last week, and then for no apparent reason, it just won't.

this is a device discovery issue with LMS 3.2. The devices added up in Common Services are not getting reflected under Campus Manager and Device Fault Manager. The devices are manually added and are stack switches (2960S-24TS-L).

When I create a service object or group and add the object to a new rule it never works.I mean the traffic match not the rule. I see not hits.I placed the rule on top of my access list to check if I do somethink wrong but it is not working. When I place only a service for example tcp/23 it is working.

We have a situation where services are stopped on the real servers. The probes fail and we confirm the services are not running on the server. We cannot access the ports from the ACE directly. We can still however acces the VIP on the TCP port (L4 VIP class-map). So we can still telnet to the VIP on the port from thr Client side of the network.This is on ACE 20 Modules deployed in Routed mode. The version of software is A2(3.3).
Tried removing multi-match and loadbalance policies as well as class-map and re-applying then re-appyling the service policy to interface. Same behavior,This is a problem at another level as some services are being monitored by GSS via TCP keep-Alive and this obviuosly causes a problem as the service then never goes off-line.

I have recently bought a new computer and have been happily connected to my wireless network for three months. The other day the connection was lost and now I cannot connect to my wireless or parents wireless networks. I can connect via the ethernet only. I will attatch an ipconfig for you to have a look at when I am not connected can see my wireless network connections however when I tempt to connect it says windows cannot manage it. I have never had to do anything to connect to my fathers netgear router or my own netgear router. I would just turn on my pc and have internet. After my brother touched my computer it no longer recognizes any wireless connection. My internet provider says that I need a new router. I don't think that is the problem because after my brother played with my computer it was unable to see any connections (not even neighbors which I normally see). This makes me think something is wrong with my computer not the router.
PS. I do have my wireless switch turned to on. My brother doesn't know what he did but will not be allowed to play with it again.

We've had a Cisco 881W set up in one of our remote offices for a while and the wireless has been fine. Yesterday I got a call saying that the wireless was no longer working.
I went over and it's true, the SSID is no longer broadcasting. I reloaded the router but it's still the same. I tried to get access to the embedded ap and I get this

Now I've not changed anything on the configuration since it went in and it was working before. Has the embedded ap died? The embedded ap is still showing as a component in show hardware.

My laptop all of a sudden can't connect to my wireless internet connection and also seem unable to find any other wireless network but mine.I recently moved to a new flat, but brought my old modem/router with me (Scientific Atlanta 2434) and use the same ISP. Last week everything worked as a charm, but at the new location my laptop won't connect to my network, though I can connect to it through my mobile phone. My laptop only seem to find my own network ("Fidel") but with my mobile I can pick up 10-15 different networks from my flat. Connecting my laptop to the modem with a cable works all good. I tried to remove "Fidel" from my networks and added it again, typing wrong password gives a message saying "wrong network key" so my laptop and the modem seem to shake hands at least. Yesterday when trying I actually got connected, but the connection died after a few minutes and I wasn't able to connect again.Windows device manager display no errors nor conflicts around the ethernet controller or network adapter. Have tried to update the drivers through the device manager as well but it says they are up to date.Windows version is Windows 7 Home Premium.Don't know if my ISP uploaded new firmware to my modem when I connected it in my new flat, but on the other hand I can't see why this would affect my laptop's ability to pick up other networks in my house? I just reformatted the hardrive on my old Gateway MA3 dinosaur laptop and reloaded Windows XP. Once loaded, no Wireless Network Connection icon appears in Network Connections and is not showing up as a Network Adaptor in Device Manager. The adptor is a Broadcom BCM94318MPG(802.11b/g) device on my. I have an XP CD and the original Gateway Windows XP CD and cannot get Windows to find the driver on the cds. Can't connect to the internet so I can't get anyupdates. Is there a way test the adaptor to see if it's cooked or not? Is there a procedure to get the machine to recognize the adaptor?

I have wireless internet at home through a Belkin router.It used to work fine but one computer wouldnt connect. I tried checking the security password on my laptop and ever since it won't connect. (However, now the other computer does!) It picks up the signal from the router but just won't connect. When I run ipconfig I get a message saying Media Disconnected. I've searched forums and can't find an answer to this.The laptop still connects to the wireless internet in my office so the wireless capability obviously still works.

Well I was trying to get my D-Link DIR-615 router too run DDWRT so I could use it as a wireless reciever.But things have gone wrong, the wireless controller no longer works. and I'm trying to restore the original factory firmware.(this is a spare router we had sitting around it's not an important asset) it boots up fine with DDWRT firmware the wire functions still work, but I needed the wireless functions.I just can't get the original firmware back.

We have a 1262 which was loaded with some recovery image for testing. After this, it doesn't get registered to the wireless controller.
we tried moving it back to autonomous mode and then again back to lightweight to have it join the controller. But it doesnt join the controller, debugs on the devices does not show any logs.

I have upgraded my WLC 5508 from 7.0 to 7.4 and the AP 1310 no longer can associate to WLC.
Seems that the AP doesn't work with WLC ver 7.4
Except changing these APs to autonomous mode, any other alternatives?
Besides, if we change them to autonomous mode, can Prime Infrastructure manage/monitor these APs?

There is one guest interface, one guest WLAN. The WLAN is set with a DHCP override address of the guest interface. But it no longer allows this as I found out. Anyway, I can get the client to now receive an address from the internal pool on the WLC, but it will not route to the authentication page. I noticed that the WLC excludes the clients attempting to connect on the guest WLAN due to failed 802.1x authentication! the WLC never even gave me the chance to authenticate using an account created either through the lobby ambassador or creating one directly on the controller.

I just got one of these and it works pretty good except I can't get it to take more than a 32 character WPA2 PSK. Tried using Firefox and IE and it doesn't make a difference. This is for my house. I'm retiring an old Cisco 1200 series AP and as well as a Cisco 1130. Using the same PSK and it doesn't work. Even if I just put 32 characters and just try typing more characters, it doesn't accept any more.Running 1.0.0.3 code and don't see anything newer or any firmware for it for that matter.

Two months ago I installed a WLC5508 with sw r7.0.116.0 and we installed 8 AP1142 as a start.
10 days the customer calls and says that the wlc logs error messages that says there is an IP-conflict with the management-interface. The conflict source is its own ip-adress!!! He reboots the WLC but the error message keeps coming. After a short while he notices that there are No APs on the WLC...!!!...
After some discussion I suggested that he should disconnect one of the two gig-ports of the WLC (LAG was enabled and in use). He did so and rebooted the WLC for good measure ... The IP-conflict disappeared but still no APs.....
In the DHCP-server (MS Win2003 server), in the AP-scope we also see that the "leased adresses" fills up with "BAD_IP_ADDRESS" (or the sort ... :-/ )
The setup is like this:
- WLC5508 running r7.0.116.0
- WLC has LAG activated and is connected to two different Cat3750G that are stacked
- The management if of the WLC is on the same subnet as the AP1142s, no other hosts on this subnet
- WLC management interface on own subnet as the only host (+ def gwy...)
- APs on their own subnet, no other hosts
- When the APs gets a IP-adress it is possible to ping them from the WLC!
- All VLANs/interfaces on the WLC is tagged, ie a "pure" trunk between WLC and 3750-stack
- Option 43 configured on the AP-scope
- All APs is connected via Power-injector (PWR-INJ4)
WLC5508 => LAG => 2x Cat3750G => TRUNK => Cat2960 with 1x AP1142 => TRUNK => Cat2960 with 6x AP1142
What we have done so far:
- Made sure the port-channel on the 3750-stack was configured: port-channel load-balance src-dest-ip
- Physically disonnected on port of the WLC
- Do "shutdown"on port gig-ports on the 3750-stack and "no shut" on only the one that is still physically connected to WLC
- Do "shutdown" on all AP-ports in the 2960-switches. Clear the lease-pool of the DHCP-server, Deactivate scope, Reactivate Scope and finally "no shut" on all AP-ports
Nothing worked, still no APs on the WLC.
I the connected my PC to the consloe of an AP that was easily accessible and powercycled it. The output can be seen below, the most peculiar was the line : " *Mar 1 00:15:53.351: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Invalid event 38 & state 2 combination"
1. It worked initially but after the ip-address confilct and reboot of WLC no APs associate to the WLC. Why??
2. The error message on the AP console: "*Mar 1 00:15:53.351: %CAPWAP-3-ERRORLOG: Invalid event 38 & state 2 combination" What does this mean?
3. Since the AP gets an IP-address an it is possible to ping WLC -> AP, is there some freakish ogre in the Cat2960 that eats up the CAPWAP-packets??

My Dell Dimension is no longer connecting to the internet via the wireless router. I have a dlink DI-524 and a dlink wireless USB key but it no longer connects. This just started today. When I try to repair the connection, it fails on "renewing IP".
OS is Windows XP.
P.S. I have tried power cycling the modem/router but nothing works. Other computers can get on the internet via the wireless router fine.

About 2 weeks ago, my wireless adapter and ethernet port stopped working all of a sudden. When trying to diagnose, I got the Dagnostic Policy error 5. On the basis of other postings on this subject, I have tried restoring an earlier restore point, uninstalling/reinstalling the network adaptors, have tried to run net localgroup Administrators /add networkservice & /add localservice, have tried adding permissions for mpssvc in regedit (DSP parameters). For the hardwired ethernet adapter, it worked but for my wireless adapter all failed so far. Output from sc queryex DPS > 0 is as follows:

I've been using my AE1000 for about a month now with absolutely no problems. Yesterday it just stopped working, I removed it from the USB port and just about burned my fingers on the metal part that plugs into the USB port. BTW I am on Windows 7 64-bit.
Now it won't work. I've tried reinstalling the driver and the device just blinks in the "Devices and Printers" control panel. I removed it again and it was very hot to the touch after only being in the port for about a minute.
