Cisco Switches :: SG300 - Can Ping But Unable To Reach Webserver

Jul 23, 2011

I have a sg300-10 switch. i update the firmware with the last one. Things are complicated when i create 2 VLAN. ( really 1 VLAN cause the first is native ).So i have the first VLAN with the interface 192.168.1.254 ans the VLAN 2 wich IP is 192.168.2.254

I'm connected with my workstation ( ip : 192.168.1.2/24 with GW 192.168.1.254 ) and i try to ping a web server on VLAN 2 ( ip : 192.168.2.2/24 GW 192.168.2.254 )

Ping is OK ! But when i try to reach any ports of the webserver : Nothing.

Cisco Switches :: SG300-28 GUI Different Than Online SG300-48 Simulator

These are our first switches and seems like GUI is lot different than the online. Out intervlan routing is o not working. I am absolutely sure that I setup the switch in L3 mode since it allows me to create mutiple interfaces. I am hoping that this GUI issue is related to interVLAN routing.

Below is the blog I started for InterVlan issue [URL]

This is the link for online simulator and what I see in its IP tab. I know this switch is not SG300. [URL]

Cisco Switches :: Difference Between SG300-28P And SG300-52

Jul 25, 2012

I have SG300-28P that I am using as layer-3 switch. Recently I ran in to SG300-52 switch and even though loading same firmware doesn't give me option to do layer-3 switching. For SG-300 I see options in GUI to create vlan interfaces under IP information section, while SG300-52 has IP information option only under the management section.let me know if these are 2 different hardware types and L3 is not possible on SG300-52. If its possible to enable L3 switching on SG300-52?

Cisco :: 5510 - Can't Reach (ping / Telent) To ASA While On AnyConnect VPN Connection

Jan 4, 2012

I am simulating Anyconnect VPN connection in the lab.I have an issue while configuring Anyconnect VPN on ASA5510.

I can have a successfull anyconnect connection but i can't ping my firewall Interface IPs while i am in the connection.

ASA 5510

Outside IP: 192.168.1.1/24
PC connected to Outside Interface: 192.168.1.10/24

Inside IP:10.10.10.1/24
PC connected to Inside Interface: 10.10.10.100/24

Pool : 10.20.20.11 - 10.20.20.50 /24

I have a successful VPN connection & the PC connected to the outside Interface gets an IP address  from the assigned pool (10.20.20.11 with default gateway of 10.20.20.1).But i can't reach (ping/telent) to the ASA while I am on the anyconnect VPN connection.

I beleive it is mostly due to NAT/Routing issue..

Cisco Switches :: SG300 Switches Have Poor Performance In Layer 3?

Jan 1, 2013

We have several of the SG300 Serices switches. We use them to route VLAN traffic to Remote Offices, Internet Connections, and WiFi Access Points. In one remote office we have a SG300-10 setup to route the HQ Network and the remote Office Subnet. The SG300 is Connected to HQ via Fiber and has multiple Tagged VLANs on it. If I do speed tests over the Fiber Link on the Incoming Tagged Netwotk I get Decent performance, 80Mbs. If I switch to a networtk that is not priginating from HQ, and have the SG300-10 route packet, I get dismal performance. 15-20Mbs.

I Fireded up a New SG300-28P FW v1.2.7.76. Added a the HQ VLAN 101 and new VLAN 1025 . Mapped some Tagged and untagged ports for each.  Switch was connected to HQ Network as untagged VLAN 101.  I put a laptop on an Untagged VLAN 101 port. Ran some tests, cam back with 750-850Mbs. Great.  Put the same laptop on a Tagged 101 Port, Configured the NIC for Tagged VLAN 101, Same test, same Speeds, 750-850Mbs.I then  Configured laptop for Tagged VLAN 1025. Connected to tagged VLAN 1025 port. Ran speed tests, resuts were 15-20Mbs!

I then  Configured laptop for Untagged VLAN 1025. Connected to unagged VLAN 1025 port. Ran speed tests, resuts were 15-20Mbs!It was only the Laptop and the Connection to the HQ net on the SG300-28P. Why is the performance of this unit soooooo poor when it needs to route?Other Switches have FW v1.0.0.27 or FW v1.1.2.0. They have Similar speed issues. All Configured for Layer 3.

Cisco Switches :: Multiple VLANS And SG300-28P Switches Setup?

Aug 20, 2012

I'm going to have several SG300-28P switches to setup.  I'll need to create multiple vlans for data, voice, and wireless traffic.  I have the following questions in setting up this configuration:

VLAN 1 Management
VLAN 100 Data
VLAN 200 Wireless
VLAN 300 Voice

1) For managing the switches via IP, will LAN1 be the default management network?  Should I create a seperate VLAN for managing the switches?

2) For uplinking the switches together, I plan to trunk a port to connect the switches together.  What's the configuration on the trunk port to forward all vlans from one switch to another?

3) On some ports, I want to configure a trunk for two vlans (Data and Voice) where the phone has a pass through for PC.  The phone supports tagging for the PC and the VoIP traffic.  For example on port 10, would VLAN 100 and 300 be set to tagged?

Cisco WAN :: 1700 Unable To Reach Remote Router

We are facing strange issue in our network. We have a remote branch which is connected to main branch using Leased Line. Remote branch is having Cisco 1700 Router. Every day in the morning time the remote router is unreachable. We are not able to reach (ping/telnet) the remote Router but able to reach L3 switch/ LAN behind this router. The users from remote branch is also not able to reach the local router but they are able to ping the Main branch.Users in the remote branch are not able to access any resources in the main branch during the issue.

During the issue, we have checked the remote branch router and found the CPU utilization of the Cisco 1700 router is very high (99%). If we run "Show process CPU" command (please find the attachment) specially IP input process is very high (97%).

Cisco Switches :: 3560X - Cannot Reach Management Vlan

Mar 12, 2013

In one of my client location I have deployed one Cisco 3560X (core switch) and one SG-200-18 (access switch). I’ve configured three vlans (vlan 2, vlan 3 and management vlan 1), relevant trunking and I’ve connected two pc to the access switch to vlan 2 and 3 respectively. So far everything (including inter-vlan communication) works fine, except that I couldn’t reach the vlan 1 (management vlan) devices (access switch and core switch) from any pc which is connected to either vlan 2 or 3.

I’ve configured the “port VLAN membership” settings in SG-300 as follows,

Interface                             mode                    Administrative vlans                      Operational vlans
 GE 2                                       Access                                  2UP

Now if my serial link goes it normally goes to my BRI, once we had a time where the BRI was also down and when we restored back the Serial link we were still not able to reach the other side. We are using OSPF routing to reach the destination. When this happens and when we reboot this router we are able to reach the destination. sometimes we are able to reach it when we remove ospf and use static and  now if we put back the ospf routing the link comes back, this happens again and again.

My PC is connected with a cable to my wireless router. When I connect the printer with a cable to my router everything works perfectly. But I want to connect my printer wireless. On the printer I disconnect the cable. I followed the wireless wizard setup on the printer and I connect to my wireless router. This is confirmed by an ip adress on the printer. Also in the menu of my router I find the ip adres of my printer in the DHCP clients list. So far so good. But from my PC I can not find the printer in my network. I also cant ping my printers ipadres. When I connect the UTP cable to my printer again, I can ping the ip of my printer.

Cisco Wireless :: 6500 Unable To Reach WISM2 Management Interface

Mar 28, 2012

I've just reset our WISM2 in the test lab back to factory default as I needed to reconfigure the 6500 and the WISM2 itself. Bearing in mind I had it working before.I've just renamed and re-addressed some of the vlans so things flow better and make it easier to add more WISM2s in the future. Now I've run through the initial configuration and it's rebooted ok and show WISM status is showing Oper-Up and there's a port channel 407 been created as I would expect. However, I am unable to get to the management interface via GUI or SSH. In fact from the 6500 I can't even ping the management interface (but I can the service port). The Vlans have been changed in the 6500 config so it knows the native-vlan and service vlan etc and all the vlans are up/up.
