if the sge2010 switch support Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and if so how do I enable it. I have a small wireless router that support it and would like client connected on it te bo visible from the wan side and that worked when I had another device doing the routing with RIP support the wireless router was picking up that information and the routing for the wireless client was working.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe had a SGE-2010, just purchased 2 (two) SGE-2010P. I want to stack the switches (all 3) (unless there is a better way). Not sure what is needed hardware wise, and how to physically wire the switches. Had switches years ago (diff brand) that used a special cable that connected the switches. It seems that is not the case here. I have not used fiber in networking before so I am new to that part, I’m willing to learn, just need pointed in the right direction.Can all three switches be stacked, (1) SGE-2010 & (2) SGE-2010P? I THINK I need to use the GBIC port 4 to stack, I understand 1 port is enough if two switches are used, but what about three or more switches.What are the other GBIC ports used for? Will I be better off (can I ) use the GBIC ports LAG (2 ports) to the other switches? Or would regular ports work just as well?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 NEXUS switches in VPC. When I create/delete a VLAN gets updated in the same switch, but the VLAN information does not get propagated to the neighboring switch. Revision number remains the same even if I modify the VLAN. Had also tried changing the VTP status to transparent mode & reverting it to client mode but no luck.Have double confirmed on the VTP domain names & password. However the same setup in different location which works perfectly fine.

spanning-tree vlan 1-200 priority 24576
1. is rapid-pvst the best spanning tree protocol to use? on some switches we have pvst (not rapid)
2. do all switches in the LAN need to use the same protocol?
3. does line 3 :priority 24576 mean that someone set tis switch as root manually? how can one further enforce the backbone as root (so noone adds a old switch with lower root id)
We have acquired a cisco sge 2010 to replace our distribution switch. I set up the 802.1X network. Everything works great except I can not find how to enable 802.1x with 'Wake on LAN' on this kind of switch.
On catalyst I saw that it was sufficient to activate this control "authentication control-direction {both | in}" Except that it seems not to exist on this switch. Is there another way to enable 802.1x on WoL without using this command?
Or how to allow the magic packet (WoL) on a tagged port by unauthorized 802.1x?
Lately I've noticed some strange behavior on some of the switch ports. When I go through the logs my SGE2000/2010 stack, I see that some of the ports randomly lose their connection:

I'm having trouble locating the source of the problem. The devices connected to the port are servers and desktops. This happens frequently throughout the day, but not always on the same ports. What could cause the random drops?

Our syslog server received no spurious errors regarding the cause nor did the location lose power. The UPS to which it is attached logged no glitches relating to power. Other cisco devices (router, other switches not in the stack) did not reload. No one was in the MDF during this time. We self insure these line of switches so a TAC case is not an option at this time. Any forensic tools that I could try in an attempt to narrow down the cause.

these switches support the Cisco pre-standard PoE required by the 7940 and 7960 IP phones.
OSPF normally only comes with IPservices image and not IP Base image. The 3560-C series data sheet says that it only suport IP Base image, yet it mentions that support for OSPF in included. Are there any restictions in the OSPF support?.

I have 2 SG300 switches and all I want is to propagate VLAN info from one to other. I do not have computers with GVRP compliant NICs, so I dont want that auto registeration functionality on access ports. I want VLAN prop via trunks and switchport mode access on access ports just like VTP. I have read on cisco docs that this functionality is provided with GVRP Mode fixed, but there are only 2 modes that I can see on SG300 are Normal and Forbidden. Trunk configured correctly, gvrp is enabled globally and on port, ports are up and functional, tried different combinations of checking and unchecking boxes of dynmic vlan creation and enable registeration on both ends but no joy. When I create a vlan from one, it doesnt propogate to other.

All routed (no spanning-tree at all).Now...I have to add an IBM BladeCenter with a BNT layer 3 switch to my topology. However, those nasties don't seem to support routed ports.How can I have a routed port on my cisco switch and a standard access port on the BNT and still establish an adjacency with an SVI? I am running OSPF, but I am labbing this in my home lab with 2 x 3550s and EIGRP.

I have an environment where i have two nexus 7010 switches, along with 2 nexus 5510's. I need to run OSPF as a layer 3 routing protocol between the vpc peer links. I have 1 link being used as a keep alive link, and 3 other links being used as a VpC link.
1) Is it best to configure a separate Vpc VLAN i.e 1010
2) Is it best to configure a vrf context keep-alive
3) just have the management address as the peer ip's.
I use the Switch 2960S support PoE and 10 access points cisco.I have one more question:
-- If all 10 access points cisco use copper cable to connect to 2960S, 5 access points use power adapter and 5 access points use power from Switch. How Switch 2960S will provide power for 10 AP or switch 2960S will understand and only provide power for 5 APs?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLooking at the following output (show interface status) from one of our 4507s I see gig interfaces 3/2 to 3/6 are all trunked (dot1q). When I look at a show run they do not show as trunked. They should indicate switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q and switchport mode trunk (as does interface gig4/2). I have seven other 4507s all running the same IOS: 12.2(25)EWA8 and they all show the same information in show run and show interface status (as far as trunked goes). This is not a problem as I know the interfaces are trunked and working properly I am just puzzled as to why I see this difference.
Here is the sho int gig3/2 trunk. It looks like you are correct. I did not realize some were set to trunk mode on and others were not. I would think the running config would still show the port using dot1q but I guess not.
How to get a summary of netflow statistics on NX-OS? On IOS you could do sh ip cache flow which would show what I need? Can't find a similar command on the Nexus Platform.

As below command to set the Relay Connector to minor for monitoring the power supply: alarm facility power-supply relay minor
1. My questions are when there is power-supply faulty, the Minor Relay Connctor (right picture) will be short-circuited, right?
2. If we connector the two ports (ports 4 & 5 at the left picture) with a normal cable to drive an Alram Bell (in short-circuiled or closed loop situation), do we need an external power supply to the Alram Bell? Or there will be power supply from Catalyst 2955 to the Alram Bell as well?
