Cisco :: Unable To Obtain IP - Assignment Failure DHCPD Due To Pool Exhausted
Sep 20, 2012I've setup VLANs for voice traffic for each floor of our building with a class C. I'm currently having an issue where the 3rd floor can no longer get an IP on their Cisco phone.
Per the debug, I get an ASSIGNMENT_FAILURE DHCPD: due to: POOL EXHAUSTED.
A 'sh ip dhcp pool' reveals 145 leased addresses on that subnet, which I confirmed by running a 'sh ip dhcp binding' command. The 'ip dhcp excluded-address' command is only configured for 20 addresses, so even with that I should have plenty available IP's in the pool.

Mar 19, 2013I have one issue on Vlan in Cisco 3750X switches , I have 2 Offices , I am sitting at corp OFfice and i have one 3750 ( 10.10.1.36)Switch at my location , in my remote office i have one more switch 3750 ( 10.10.33.1) and i am able to access the both vlan IPS with out any issue , now i have some network components in Vlan33 ( 10.10.33.1) at my remote office . i am able to ping 10.10.33.1 IP from my corp office , but i am not able to ping any network devices in 10.10.33.5 example : 10.10.33.5 is my Cyberoam IP at remote location and i am not able to ping , i have taken a trace route and not able to find the issue as i am not much femilar , ping 10.10.33.5 at remote location devicec

Jul 7, 2010using ACS 4.2 and I can't find a way to bind an incoming NAS port to a specifc IP Pool:
When a user connects the request to auth comes from 2 possible NAS ports randomly (this cannot change). Depending on which NAS makes the requests determines the IP range required, so I need 2 IP Pools. There is no way to say 'if request comes from NAS1 give IP from Pool1 and if request comes from NAS2 give IP from Pool2'
I have gone around and around with NAFs and NARs, but cannot do this.I can create 2 ACS groups with the specific NAS and specific IP pool within, but then I cannot have a single username bound to both groups.
I moved the auth to an AD group in the hope that I could bind that single AD group to the 2 ACS groups; and so have a single username, but no joy.

Mar 28, 2012I was trying to set a DHCP pool with 127.16.0.0/16 with RV220W, however, RV220W UI can't save it. It displays "IP Address Range -"Step to reproduce: (it is 100% reproducible)
1. login into RV220W admin web
2. Create a VLAN, id 201
3. Go to "Multiple VLAN subnets", select the VLAN, click edit
4. Enter following info:
IP Address: 172.16.0.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
DHCP Mode: DHCP Server
Domain Name: Cisco
Starting IP Address: 172.16.2.100
Ending IP Address: 172.16.10.254
Primary DNS Server: 172.16.0.1
Leave rest of settings with default value.
DNS proxy is enabled
5. Press Save button. The UI shows text "IP Address Range -".
Expected result: RV220W shall save the setting and make use of 172.16.0.0 subnet in IP pool. By the way, the error message "IP Address Range -" seems incompleteI tried same setting on netgear FVS318N (very similar settings to RV220W), it accepts 172.16.0.0/16 as DHCP IP pool and works.RV220W has great feature set meets my needs. Its UI is slow and sometime dashboard freezes, which I can live with comparing to features. But DHCP server IP pool can't be class B is huge limitation to me.

If I assign a pool of IP's (192.168.1.20 - 192.168.1.30) for Client VPN connections - do I need to be sure that those same IP's are not used on the other side of site-to-site VPN ?
There could be PC's/Servers running 192.168.1.0/24 on the other side of site-to-site VPN. Would this cause an address conflict ?

The rest of my internal network is 10.10.10.0/24. There are four other WAPs on the 10.10.40.0/24 network that I did not configure. When I assign an IP address - 10.10.40.7 to my WAP with the gateway as 10.10.40.100 (router), I cannot ping anything. If I assign the WAP an IP address - 10.10.10.192 with the gateway 10.10.10.100 (router), I can ping everything.

Aug 10, 2011I disconnected and reconnected the powercable while holding on to the setup button until system, alert, setup go amber. The system led light began blinking green. I waited until one of the leds lights on the ports starts blinking green I then connected the ethernet cable connected to my pc. I made sure my lan connection on my computer was set to dhcp.In the docs claim it should take about 1 minute to grab a new ip address. After a few minutes i check the ipconfig on my pc and I get the apipa address.The setup light on the switch remains green while system is amber. The led for port 1 stopped blinking and remains green.My pc is not grabbing an ip address I don't know what else to do.

Jan 22, 2012I'm fairly new to Cisco configuration and I am looking at a problem for a client that involves the use of a Cisco 887 (wired only) as the main router/gateway. The problem I am investigating involves the allocatoni of DHCP addresses from the device to a product we have designed that connects to the router. I am attempting to set the 880 up on the bench with no ADSL connection and just use the DHCP feature of the box for the 4 switch ports on the back. I have tried all kinds of configurations from default. Whatever I do I can't get the router to assign an IP address to anything that is plugged in (Windows or Linux machines). What could I be doing wrong ? It can't be that difficult to get the system to just act as a DHCP server.

There are 5 ethernet ports in the same ethernet switch to be assigned for one person (one note book), e.g. port 5, 6, 15, 16 and 23. The model of ethernet switch is cisco 2960S and one MAC address is configured on 2960S.
1. Does 2960S support this requirement to allow input the same MAC address to 5 different port?
2. If yes, can ethernet switch "smart" enough to forward the packages to "active" ethernet port which is connected to notebook and the rest of four ports are inactive.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 6500 - Same MAC Address In Different VLAN?
Oct 31, 2012The customer has 4 6500 switches. 2 Physical locations, and 2 switches at each locations. The locations are connected via 1 200mpbs metro ethernet(layer 2). We ran into an issue during a DR exercise. We had created a VLAN for DR testing purposes, that did not have any SVI configured, but the VLAN did exist on one of the 6500s. When the customer restored a VM to the DR VLAN, we lost connectivity to the production server. After some troubleshooting, we found the cause to be the same mac address showing up, but in a different vlan. Once we removed the DR vlan from the 6500 all was well. It seems like switches are ignoring the VLAN in the mac address table, and forwarding to the incorrect ports. The switch is not reporting any mac flapping in the logs. No spanning tree topology changes are occurring. Code version is 12.2(33)SXJ2 on all switches.
