i bought a cisco 2950 series switch to play around with and im trying to set it up to SSH. I have google'd a bit on how to do this and i've sort of hit a wall... i have downloaded the cryptographic image from cisco's website, installed a TFTP server (think this is where my issue lies) but when i do the copy tftp flash global command i keep getting the error accessing "xxxx" message.I have tried allowing the server through windows firewall, disabling windows firewall, allowing access through the router..
One of my wi-fi site having 2nos cisco 2950 switchs. in that network some D-link unmanageble swithes also there and access points also connected to cisco switchs and D-link switchs.after one or two days i am not able to connect the wi-fi, then i need to restart the access point then only wi-fi is working fine.I upgraded the latest ios also.I connected some access points to the cisco switch ports, those ports are showing crc error messages like below. [code]
I'm trying to access the CMS administration page from my browser. I've already tried 192.168.0.1 and that brings up my gateway (cable modem from Time Warner).
I upgraded a Catalyst 2950 switch and there wasn't enough room so I deleted the flash. The upgraded went well using tftp. It booted up fine. The I0S version includes crypto. But, I can't access switch via web browser or CNA. Port scan shows port 80 0pen. What am I missing?
Here is the flash. Directory of flash:/ 2 -rwx 112 Mar 01 1993 01:00:48 +00:00 info 3 -rwx 3722814 Mar 01 1993 01:02:58 +00:00 c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA14.bin 4 drwx 4416 Mar 01 1993 01:03:45 +00:00 html 331 -rwx 112 Mar 01 1993 01:04:19 +00:00 info.ver 332 -rwx [code]....
I have a cisco 2950 switch, connected with 4Mbps of internet and number of users will access the internet. There is no restraction on bandwidth limit for users, if any body use high download the remaining users are facing the slow browsing problems.
So, if i can put a bandwidth limitation for every users the problem will be solved. how to restract the bandwidth on user bases.
I have two 3560G 24 port switches. Each of them connects to some 3560G or 2950 switches. Trunks between 3560G are set as 1000/full. Trunks between 3560G and 2950 are set as 100/full. show int status also shows the interface negotiation is 100/full for trunks between 3560G and 2950. The issue is I keep getting outdiscard errors in trunks between 3560G and 2950. At 2950 switches, I see Recv-errors too. I checked all the trunks traffic. They are totally not high. Only serveal mbps. Most time even lower than 1mbps.
I googled this kind of issue online. I see it could be possibly caused by high volume traffic higher than the capacity. But it appears the traffic there is not high enough to cause this kind of issue. Is there any possiblity that could cause this problem?
The below is 3560G trunk configuration for 2950 switch
interface GigabitEthernet0/10 switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-122,124-4094 switchport mode trunk speed 100 duplex full srr-queue bandwidth share 10 10 60 20 queue-set 2 priority-queue out mls qos trust cos auto qos voip trust
the trunk configuration at 2950 switch: interface FastEthernet0/24 switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-122,124-4094 speed 100 duplex full
In my lab, there are some machines that are connected using Cisco 2950 switches. Those machines belong to a VLAN.Now I need to modify the VLAN settings of the machines and as such I also need to modify the VLAN settings on the ports on the Cisco switches.
In order to do this, first I need to login to those switches, but due to a lack of knowledge transfer, I don't have the password. Is the some generic password?Second I will need to modify the VLAN settings on each individual port. How can I do this?
how to recover password and retrive configuration on Cisco switch 2950 and 3560.I know the way to press and hold the mode button and then plug in the power cord can reset the switch to factory default but it will reset everything to nothing. As such, it is not what I want and I want to keep the configuration file and able to use the configuration on the switch.
we are using 3750 and 2950 switches both of them do not support vlan up to 4000 .we need vlan about 3000 .Whic cisco series switch do support vlan up to 4000.
2950 S-SW1.3(config-vlan)#exi
Proposed configuration has too many VLANs for this platform. Reduce the number of VLANs proposed.
S-SW1.3(config)#end 3750 SW1(config-vlan)#exi
proposed configuration exceeds the limit of 1005 VLANs that can be supported on this platform. Reduce the number of VLANs proposed to be within this limit.
I have a lab setup to take my CCNA and CCNP and I'm having issues trying to get WAN connectivity back to a switch at the end of my network. My lab environment consists of 1 - 2950 switch, 1 - 2620 and 1 - 2621XM. I have 1 Ethernet connection from each router to the switch and 1 serial connection from the 2620 to the 2621XM. I have the serial interfaces in a shutdown state right now so there is no loop since I do not have Spanning tree setup on the ports on the switch yet.
Right now using the fast ethernet ports on the routers and I have no issues its when I shut down those Ethernet ports and try using the serial interfaces when I start having issues. So my network layout is Ethernet from switch port f0/4 to port f0/0 on 2620 and serial from s0/1 on the 2620 to s0/2 on the 2621XM. My 2621XM f0/1 is whats connected to the WAN and I have no issues getting to the WAN from my 2621Xm or my 2620 but when I try pinging any website or even my WAN default gateway from my switch I get nothing!
Ive also noticed that when I do a IP NAT translation (after accessing the WAN from my 2620) on my 2621XM the source IP is of my serial connection not the ip of my 2620 router? I have my default gateway on the 2620 as the the IP of my serial interface on the 2621XM and vice versa because my LAN network is 172.16.1.0 and my WAN is 172.16.9.0. I have a /31 setup between my serial connections 172.16.11.0 (s0/1) is on the 2620 and 172.16.11.1(s0/2) is on the 2621XM. I used the SDM (ver 2.5) to setup NAT to have f0/1 with Nat outside and s0/2 as Nat inside. Encapsulation is HDLC between the serial links. Ive attached the running configs of the switch and routers.
I recently saw it for a good price online, and required a new router (had a netgear that died, and my backup was a really buggy Belkin which I'm currently using).I'm having an issue with the internet, in that when I connect my ADSL modem to the WAN port it seems to work fine, however the PC can't connect to the internet. When I go into the settings it says that the WAN connection is OK and even shows my external IP. I have it set via the stardard DHCP setup.Should I have done anything specific to my ADSL modem before plugging it into the RV180W? The Modem (D-Link 320B) also has a DHCP server on it, however I assume that this causes no issues when connected to the RV180W.
I have a 3945 with a basic DHCP configuration applied to it. This 3945 is connected into one of the access ports of my nexus switch. I'd like to simply have the 3945 hand ip addresses out to other clients connected to the nexus switch. I have zero experience with nexus & haven't been able to turn much up through searching the net.
I am using 3560.IP rouitng is being turned off on this.Curious to know if I will create etherchannel or port channel.I think etherchannel.Correct me if I am wrong. On connecting switches I have vlan10,20,30 to be allowed.I am sure I need to allow these all vlan in 10,20,30 which are on the trunk port on each side switch.Post that will add channel-port lacp and make it in active mode.Is that correct. This way traffic will be load-balanced/aggregated on minimum 2 ports who are the part of this.
I have a Cisco 2951 Router and I am trying to set it up to use DHCP and for security purposes I need to use the "IP Access-Group in" command. The DHCP will not work when I have this command on the interface that I need to run it through, DHCP works fine when I do not have the "IP Access-Group in" command in the configuration. When I check the log after the failed DHCP attempt it shows up as denied, as if it's being blocked. The IOS I have is c2951-UNIVERSALK9-m 15.0 (1) M3. Conf Reg 0x2102.
is it possible to assign a loopback address to a typical switch port on a 2950 switch? I want to be able to have some devices connected to a switch to test access lists and VLANs.
Is there a way to get more messages out of a 2950 set to syslog? I've turned every logging option I can find to DEBUG, but all I get in my syslog are LinkUp/Down messages and "Configured from console by console". I'd love to see more information such as configuration changes, or even someone attempting to set up DTP on a switchport set to access mode.
I have a server windows 2008 that I would like to have a nic teaming configuration, the server has two nics, each nic is connected to a different switch. One is connected to cisco 2960 and the other is connected to cisco 2950. I have read here in forums about nic teaming but using the same switch. I have not found using different switch. Is this possible?
I have a problem with an etherchannel between a cisco 2950 and a couple of catalyst 4506. The cisco 2950 is connect via an etherchannel to the catalyst 4506A. The channel consist of two port on both side and is in trunk mode, encapsulation dot1q.Now i have the necessity to connect the 2950 to the other catalyst, 4506B. So, i copy the same configuration on the 4506B, but when I unplug the two rj45 cables from the catalyst 4506A to plug them in the 4506B the etherchannel doesn't go up in any way.
I have a cisco catalyst 2950 switch (flash:c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-22.EA1b.bin), in remote location with public IP,how to upgrade ios remotely, by that time running configuration will go?how much down time is required and ?
I have 10 2950 switches on my network that support only 64 vlans on each one. I actualy have requrement to cleate around 100 vlans acros them, can I switch off vtp and create required vlans manualy? I will have more or less following set up:
