how to recover password and retrive configuration on Cisco switch 2950 and 3560.I know the way to press and hold the mode button and then plug in the power cord can reset the switch to factory default but it will reset everything to nothing. As such, it is not what I want and I want to keep the configuration file and able to use the configuration on the switch.

1-10 as isolated (can't contact each other)
11-20 as community (need to contact each other like a normal VLAN)
23 as promiscuous (server that ports 1-20 need to get to)

We have Cisco chassis 4500 with mix of 3560/2950 Edge switches 1GB backbones and WLC/WCS in place. The network is broken into multiple V LANS and IOS on our switches haven't been updated in 3-4 years.
On a wireless laptop (G) with get throughput of 1-2MB/s transfer speed with usually 10 clients per AP and LAN we get anywhere between 7-15 MB/s transfer. Using wire shark on a wireless laptop we see a lot broadcast traffic from other clients and the same for LAN. What is the best way to troubleshoot performance issues on the network and where do I start?

I'm trying to access the CMS administration page from my browser. I've already tried 192.168.0.1 and that brings up my gateway (cable modem from Time Warner).
I upgraded a Catalyst 2950 switch and there wasn't enough room so I deleted the flash. The upgraded went well using tftp. It booted up fine. The I0S version includes crypto. But, I can't access switch via web browser or CNA. Port scan shows port 80 0pen. What am I missing?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have two 3560G 24 port switches. Each of them connects to some 3560G or 2950 switches. Trunks between 3560G are set as 1000/full. Trunks between 3560G and 2950 are set as 100/full. show int status also shows the interface negotiation is 100/full for trunks between 3560G and 2950. The issue is I keep getting outdiscard errors in trunks between 3560G and 2950. At 2950 switches, I see Recv-errors too. I checked all the trunks traffic. They are totally not high. Only serveal mbps. Most time even lower than 1mbps.
I googled this kind of issue online. I see it could be possibly caused by high volume traffic higher than the capacity. But it appears the traffic there is not high enough to cause this kind of issue. Is there any possiblity that could cause this problem?

In my lab, there are some machines that are connected using Cisco 2950 switches. Those machines belong to a VLAN.Now I need to modify the VLAN settings of the machines and as such I also need to modify the VLAN settings on the ports on the Cisco switches.
In order to do this, first I need to login to those switches, but due to a lack of knowledge transfer, I don't have the password. Is the some generic password?Second I will need to modify the VLAN settings on each individual port. How can I do this?

So now I'm trying to use it back at the office in the sandbox, however I don't know the password to the device and neither does the business owner. There's a reset button on the back, but from what I've read (here), it only loads a different config file found on the internal flash. Tried this, no dice. Is this essentially a bricked router now or is there anything else I can do to clear the config and repurpose it for my use?

Also I CANNOT ping the firewall from a PCor system on the network, but CAN ping everthing from the PIX.I've tried using interface 1 but no go.
