Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3500xl Switch Will Not Load Flash Or Copy From Xmodem?

I am trying to configure a switch that was given to me. They don't know the password to anything. I have already tried to recover it. The problem is, the switch doesn't load flash, or will copy flash from xmodem either. It also doesnt load the helper or boot. It is user mode and lets me do nothing. It doesnt let me use the enable command to get into it. I would like to start the config from scratch. Its a 3500xl switch, 24 ports. I dont know what to do with it. I am trying to study for my CCENT Exam and would like a switch that worked.

I have a cisco 3750 swicth which i want to load a new ios to but unfortunately there's no enough space on the flash. This means that i need to backup the cureent (old) ios to my tftp server but the command keeps failing. It always gives 'No such file or directory' error .The free space on the flash is 8mb and my new ios is about 11mb.I also went inside the directory where the old is and inputed the same copy command but to no avail.Below are some of the command failure on the swicth:

Trying to copy the system image file from the sup-bootflash to a new 64MB ATA flash card. Yes the software can support the 64MB card.
The ATA flash card was formated successfully, however I cannot copy the system image to it so that it can boot after a power loss.
The command I tried was: console(enabled) copy sup-bootflash: slot0:
The source filename was typed in as shown in the Show Verison command.The result was: Error opening slot0: no such device.I suspect that I am missing something obvious as I am new to Cisco Switches.

I've gotten this out of our storage unit here at work: This was not in use, I've restarted it, I can't get into the flash dir,I've tried to restart the switch via the documents I've gotten on the site.I have the lastest iOS version .bin for this switch, but I can't get this to load: here below is what happens when I try.

I recently posted this same issue the other day, using TFTPd32. Now i am pretty close to fixing it. I do have a different setup; my pc ethernet port is broken so I am using an ethernet/usb adapter. I am attempting to backup my IOS from a 3550 switch to my PC.

My understanding is that even layer 2 switches like the Cisco 3500XL can have 1 IP address for management. However, I cannot seem to figure out how to configure it to get it working in a router on a stick setup. I can manage the router through SSH, but I cannot SSH to the switch.

have a Switch I bought off a guy at work. Just to get into the Switching world of Cisco. He doesnt know the password on it and i cant reset the switch. I would like to mess around with it more but it doesnt load the flash or helper. It just sits there and holds. I have tried the password recovery and everything. Trust me, everything is correct, but it wont work for me. I cant load a new image to it because I dont have access to a server to get it from.

I am trying to configure a 3500XL switch (and I know its old). I get to the int fa 0/1 line and thats where it all stops working.
switch#(config-if)#switch port mode access
switch#copy run start
or
switch#(config-if)#switch port mode access
switch#sh run int fa 0/1
It will show the configuration for port fa 0/1 as if I hadn't entered the "switch port mode access" command. Or any other command for that matter. Why the switch is not holding configuration and seemingly loses it as soon as you exit out of each interface?

I am using TFTPD32 to upgrade the IOS on a router. When I type in the commands copy tftp flash and enter all the necessary information, the router sits for a minute or so and then times out. i have recently tried to change the catos on a Catalyst 2948G-L3 and since then i have the following message in a loop :I know that the solution would be to download a new valid image from tftp via the rommon prompt but what i dont undertand is why i cant access the rommon prompt. It seems I have seen this before (and even done it once a few years ago).. but it has been a while. I have a stack with a Cisco 3750 stack that I have to replace a member.The replacement switch is a 3750X.
I think I have to upgrade the IOS of the older switch to be the same as the 3750X.
Current switch: WS-C3750G-48TS 12.2(46)SE
TO BE ADDED WS-c3570X-48 15.0 (1)SE2
It seems to me there was a way to upgrade the older switch IOS from the newer switch or downgrade the newer switch with the older IOS.I dont have the Cisco account to download updated IOSs.

I have a 3550 switch that was replaced at a remote site with no IOS. This is a switch not a router so tftpdnld does not work.

The problem is the switches interface never comes up so try to connect to the tftp server. I read on google it can't be done on a switch to copy from tftp to flash in rommon mode on a switch and to use XMODEM. My problem is I do not have access to it, I ssh into a 3640 which is an access server for all devices and that is how I have console to it, how to use XMODEM over ssh.
But I'm fairly certain that there has to be a way to just copy it from tftp? I have a 3550 local and when I put it in rommon mode it stops the port check at port, port 1 goes from green when you plug it in to off then port 2 changes to amber and the rest green. So just by the look of this I would believe tftp would work; you just need to use port 1.

I just got a brand new ASA 5550, i configured the port g0/0 on asa with an ip address 192.168.10.1 then configure my computer with ip 192.168.10.2 and default gateway is 192.168.10.1. I'm able to ping the asa from my computer. I remote to ASA thru the console port and try to copy iOS from flash to my pc but it doesn't work.

I have a really stupid problem with my RV042. The main logon password has expired but it will not let me change it at all. Basically I try to login but get the error 'The old password has expired. Please change the password'. But with no prompt at all for a new password and just a return to the login page. Tried various different browsers, tried the old default password but nothing will work. There seems to be no way of changing it and I cannot login.Am I missing something glaringly obvious? I really don't want to reset it to default as I have numerous VPN tunnels configured and various other settings.

I have a POE switch running 12.0(5). I have port 24 connected as a trunk connected to the main switch. I need to add an ip address on vlan 21 which is where the network vlan is. I created it but I can not seem to enable it. I have issued the no shut command several times, but doing "sh ip int brief" it keeps showing up as administively down.

I've 3750X switch that isn't loading email. then I went to rommon mode and accidently for "format flash". after that I loaded 15.0 SE2 s/w on it using tftp server but it doesn't boot up with that image. flash had only .bin file after I loaded it from tftp server.
since it wasn't booting up, I did format flash again and thought to load image again from tftp server but now, it doesn't load image from tftp server.

We have two core switches in our network (Cisco WS-4503). HSRP is working as Active-Standby mode. Recently it has been found that core 1 (which is in active mode) shown high CPU load (60% - 100%). Also found that the below mentioned process takes more CPU. Our network consist of around 30 Vlans. I'm configuring a catalyst 3500XL, but I'm having a problem, when I connect an ip phone it works just fine but if I connect a computer to the pc port in the phone the computer doesn't get an ip address. The switch is configure with two vlans Voice and Data and is connected from fa0/24 to a Catalyst 3560 fa0/46. I did configure both ports as trunk.

I am trying to trunk between a 3Com 4800g and a Cisco 3500xl. I can get the a PC that connects to a vlan 1 port on thecisco switch to connect to the 3com switch and get connectivity. However, I cannot get anthing on the cisco switch that is on vlan 2 to connect and get dhcp. I am not a 3com guy, so I am not familiar with the command and configs.We have 2 vlans on both switches: Vlan 1 is Admin and Vlan 2 is Student.
