Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3925 ISR - Possible To Copy Files Between Flash
Jul 9, 2012
I am trying to research the possiblity of backing up IOS and configurations from an Etherswitch module, and being able to store the files onto the Host Router's flash (3925 ISR). and then being able to recover that IOS and configuration, in case I have to replace the Etherswitch Module.
Trying to copy the system image file from the sup-bootflash to a new 64MB ATA flash card. Yes the software can support the 64MB card.
The ATA flash card was formated successfully, however I cannot copy the system image to it so that it can boot after a power loss. The command I tried was: console(enabled) copy sup-bootflash: slot0:
The source filename was typed in as shown in the Show Verison command. The result was: Error opening slot0: no such device.I suspect that I am missing something obvious as I am new to Cisco Switches.
I have a 3550 switch that I am trying to upgrade the IOS on.I am trying to copy to a TFTP server.I am receiving a socket error.I saw that this can be fixed with
Switch#config t Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z. Switch(config)#no service config Switch(config)#exit Switch# 00:13:47: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by console Switch#reload
I have done this 3 times to no avail. My TFTPd32 server on my pc is working fine. Here is the error
Switch#sh flas Directory of flash:/ 2 -rwx 556 Mar 1 1993 00:33:53 +00:00 vlan.dat 4 -rwx 3775 Mar 1 1993 00:37:54 +00:00 config.text 5 -rwx 24 Mar 1 1993 00:37:54 +00:00 private-config.text 6 -rwx 5687963 Mar 16 2007 01:05:23 +00:00 c3550-ipbasek9-mz.122-25.SEB4.bin 8 drwx 192 Mar 1 1993 00:04:40 +00:00 c3550-i9q3l2-mz.121-22.EA1a
I am trying to configure a switch that was given to me. They don't know the password to anything. I have already tried to recover it. The problem is, the switch doesn't load flash, or will copy flash from xmodem either. It also doesnt load the helper or boot. It is user mode and lets me do nothing. It doesnt let me use the enable command to get into it. I would like to start the config from scratch. Its a 3500xl switch, 24 ports. I dont know what to do with it. I am trying to study for my CCENT Exam and would like a switch that worked.
I have a cisco 3750 swicth which i want to load a new ios to but unfortunately there's no enough space on the flash. This means that i need to backup the cureent (old) ios to my tftp server but the command keeps failing. It always gives 'No such file or directory' error .The free space on the flash is 8mb and my new ios is about 11mb.I also went inside the directory where the old is and inputed the same copy command but to no avail.Below are some of the command failure on the swicth:
I recently posted this same issue the other day, using TFTPd32. Now i am pretty close to fixing it. I do have a different setup; my pc ethernet port is broken so I am using an ethernet/usb adapter. I am attempting to backup my IOS from a 3550 switch to my PC.
Two computers (XP and Win7) connected on office LAN, cisco 2960, not same switches, but all in the same rack, and link togeter, same IP subnet, tried to copy some kind of 26G files from one to another, using Windows share folders, and it showed need 23 hours to finish the copying. It's not the first time, actually we always experienced very slow speed when copying files on Windows share folders. Did not see any particualler message on the switch. ports are all full/100m.
I am using TFTPD32 to upgrade the IOS on a router. When I type in the commands copy tftp flash and enter all the necessary information, the router sits for a minute or so and then times out. There is no entry made in the log when it times out. copy flash tftp yields the same result. The fa 0/0 interface and the TFTP server are both on the same subnet and can successfully ping one anothe
I just got a brand new ASA 5550, i configured the port g0/0 on asa with an ip address 192.168.10.1 then configure my computer with ip 192.168.10.2 and default gateway is 192.168.10.1. I'm able to ping the asa from my computer. I remote to ASA thru the console port and try to copy iOS from flash to my pc but it doesn't work.

I have a really stupid problem with my RV042. The main logon password has expired but it will not let me change it at all. Basically I try to login but get the error 'The old password has expired. Please change the password'. But with no prompt at all for a new password and just a return to the login page. Tried various different browsers, tried the old default password but nothing will work. There seems to be no way of changing it and I cannot login.Am I missing something glaringly obvious? I really don't want to reset it to default as I have numerous VPN tunnels configured and various other settings.
I have two Routers (C1812 & C1841) each having different version of IOS images. I was wondering if its possible to copy IOS image from flash of one Router and use it to upgrade another.

I am trying to map network and copy files to D:BackupSql_Backup?How can I sue this with spaces in my folders
net use R: \000.00.0.00Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQLBACKUP" cd echo off R: cd Xcopy . /D /I /F /E /Y D:BackupSql_Backup net use R: /delete /y exit
I have a network using windows home server 1, with 3 computers hooked up to it. Two of them work fine but the 3rd computer cannot successfully copy a file to the network. However, I can copy a file from the network to computer 3.This started suddenly about a week ago and there were no driver updates or anything changed that would cause this. When I copy a file from the network to computer 3 I get about 80mb/second. When I try the reverse, it pauses and after about 5 seconds I get a message saying:There is a problem accessing \serverserverfolder. Make sure you are connected to the network and try again. If I try to copy a small file of a few megabytes it will copy though.
I need to do a backup on our laptop prior to beginning the malware removal process. I need to move 22GB+. There is plenty of room on our desktop to store the files.Would it be best to use file sharing between the 2 PCs? They are both USB connected to the same router. Or, is it possible to transfer the files by connecting them directly to each other via USB?
How do I save/copy all of the router configuration entries onto a memory/flash usb drive? I did not configure the router myself (out of town when purchased). I have already downloaded the manual for that router and I want to understand exactly what she (person who configured router) did and identify any mistakes she might have made. Once downloaded, I assume I can print out all configuration settings.
Basic info: SBS 2008 (64bit), XP-sp3 (32bit) workstations, gigabit switch, SEP. App is Sage Masterbuilder.Network config: Server is 1gb to switch over CAT6. All the workstations are 100mb over CAT5. SEP is set to exclude all pertinent files on both the server and workstations.Problem: The program is called MasterBuilder and does job costing and much more. In the job costing feature there is an option to "Compute" job costing. In version 16.x, when the "Compute" was performed the task was done very quickly. After an upgrade to version 17.x it is very SLOW. According to tech support, our network is at fault since it is a database function over the network.Troubleshooting done: Tech support blamed our network speed (100mb) and switch. We had a Netgear 100mb switch so we replaced it with a GB switch however the cabling will not support GB. Being a managed switch I set all the ports to 100mb except the server port. Even tried the server plugged into a 100mb port and no change. I am confident there are no speed issues on our network. All other programs perform flawlessly. ACAD, Exchange, data transfers and many other high data use programs work perfectly. I updated the network card drivers in the server as well. There are no performance or resource issues on the workstations. I monitored the network traffic at the workstations, server and switch with no issues and about 2.5% utilization during the slow "Compute" process. The switch shows no errors at all, no collisions, no dropped packets, nothing. I also disabled the SEP.
During testing and while the slow "Compute" was going on, I copied a large folder (400mb) from the server to the workstations see the impact on network utilization. As soon as I start the copy process the "Compute" process speeds up to normal and zips by as it should. As soon as I cancel the copy process the "Compute" drops right back to very slow.
I record videos after motion detection on the cameras sd-card. Is there a way to copy all the files from sd-card to the pc? I wasn't able to copy them with the web-interface. I don't just want to delete the videos from time to time. I also want to archive them local.
I made an ASDM upgrade for one of my two CISCO ASA 5520. If I copy a file to the primary ASA's flash, is there any command I can run on the primary ASA to copy a file to the secondary ASA?
I have a question regarding the 3925 router. In the past on my old 3660's, in order to add a new line to an ACL, I would have to remove the entire ACL and readd it when adding new ACL lines to the list. Is this required on the 3925's, or is it like the ASA 5520's where you can just add an ACL any 'ol time without having to remove/add the entire ACL list?
I just receive a new Cisco 3925 with a etherswitch module 24 port :
SM-ES3G-24-P,I successfully boot the switch module and gain access to it.
I found some documentation on CCO but I don't sorted out this small information :,
Switch#sh cdp neig Capability Codes: R - Router, T - Trans Bridge, B - Source Route Bridge S - Switch, H - Host, I - IGMP, r - Repeater, P - Phone, D - Remote, C - CVTA, M - Two-port Mac Relay Device ID Local Intrfce Holdtme Capability Platform Port IDRouter Gig 0/26 143 R S I CISCO3925 Gig 2/0Switch#
The Router is connected to the switch module via a HIMI :
The Cisco enhanced EtherSwitch service modules also provide a physical Gigabit Ethernet serializer/deserializer integrated circuit transceiver (HIMI) interface. In the Cisco 2900 series and Cisco 3900 series routers, the HIMI link on the Cisco enhanced EtherSwitch service modules is connected to the router internal Gigabit Ethernet backplane. This link is used for interconnection between other interface cards or network modules attached to the router Gigabit Ethernet backplane bypassing the router host CPU; thus, increasing CPU performance by decreasing CPU processing.
If I do a sh ip int brief on the switch, I have 26 interface but only 24 are physicaly present on the front. The type of the 0/25 and 0/26 are the same : media type is 1000BaseXThe interface gi 0/26 is up up but the 0/25 is down down.
I've rolled back my E4200 router to the old firmware 1.0.0.1, then set up a media server. It generally works (e.g. it streams pre-existing media files to other devices). I can copy to this external drive small (say, < 1 MB) files. The drive has enough free space. However, I cannot copy to this external drive large (e.g. 700 MB) files.
In order to do a flash upgrade on a 5510, is there any way to get the files from the existing flash onto the new flash before you replace existing flash? Is there an online procedure?
I just barely put in a Cisco 3925 on our network. I've configured gigabitethernet 0/2 to live on our management VLAN with an IP address of 10.129.0.31/16. I did a "no shut" on the interface. Everything should be ready to allow me to ping and/or SSH to that interface but I can't. It's really weird because I've done this a thousand times (at least on ASAs). I must be missing something. At any rate, the default gateway of the management VLAN is 10.129.0.1. I can ping that from the router. I can also ping that from my laptop (which lives on a completely different VLAN). But I can't ping the router from my laptop or vice versa.

I was trying to give the following host name to my 3925 router.Iht comes up with the following error. DRT0(config)#hostname DRT#0 % Hostname contains one or more illegal characters.% Hostname "DRT#0" is not a legal LAT node name, Using "CISCO_000000" DRT#0(config)#
I have pix 535 and wanted to erase the flash files (faulty) which already utilised 13 mb .so i cant upload new ios so i want erasedisk.bin ,i also have CCO account.
I am looking for ways to avoid deleting files from the flash in a Switch 2960, I found some scripts TCL / EEM but this switch does not support EEM (IOS c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin).
