I am looking for ways to avoid deleting files from the flash in a Switch 2960, I found some scripts TCL / EEM but this switch does not support EEM (IOS c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt610n that I've used for years with no problem. The usb drive I've had plugged into it has worked great for a really long time, but it's fairly small. I bought a WD 1TB hard drive, formatted it with the router set everything up. after about a day I tried to upload a file from work and got an error, and it wiped the harddrive clean. I reloaded thinking it was a fluke and everything worked fine for about a month. Uploading and downloading worked fine from where ever I was at, on the local network or over the internet. Then I tried to upload a small file, got the error and all of my files were gone again.

I'm not saying it's a super-drive, just not complaining of anything.I started using it as a backup drive. File disappear randomly.Gigabytes of files deleted. No power outages nothing happened, the Router is 24-7 on connected to a UPS. So it is the drive, it was never shut off since connected the drive, about a month ago. It only shares connection among a couple desktop PCs a couple laptops a network printer and a couple smartphones, all updated, all clean that is no virus or anythingI removed the drive from the router and plugged it in the computer.Files were there,even though the files in the root were not all there, it must have crashed during the last modifications, although it's bad, and it's also bad that it does not give you a single sign it has crashed.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi sold off my e4200 & brought a e4500 .The e4200 has had a 2 TB W.D external drive attached ,i stream movies to a sat pvr in the .ts format .The problem is i set the e4500 up & it deleted my .ts files not once but 3 times.when i brought the e4500 i did roll the firmware back to the classic non cloud firmware.the third time i had turned the router off & once swtiched back on my files were gone .should i safely remove the drive from the set up ? what if i have a power failure?

The ASA itself completely freezes i.e. no traffic in or out until I kill the transfer window and then it may reboot

I have copied the config and vlan.dat files via tftp to the computer and want to import them to a replacement switch. Both switches are 2960 model. I get the config over fine but not sure how to get the vlan.dat file to the flash.

I download the IOS file and this file is only 11.2MB so my question is if I can upgrade the IOS because my flash is enough for upload the IOS file.
Two computers (XP and Win7) connected on office LAN, cisco 2960, not same switches, but all in the same rack, and link togeter, same IP subnet, tried to copy some kind of 26G files from one to another, using Windows share folders, and it showed need 23 hours to finish the copying.It's not the first time, actually we always experienced very slow speed when copying files on Windows share folders. Did not see any particualler message on the switch. ports are all full/100m.

Trying to copy the system image file from the sup-bootflash to a new 64MB ATA flash card. Yes the software can support the 64MB card.
The ATA flash card was formated successfully, however I cannot copy the system image to it so that it can boot after a power loss.
The command I tried was: console(enabled) copy sup-bootflash: slot0:
The source filename was typed in as shown in the Show Verison command.The result was: Error opening slot0: no such device.I suspect that I am missing something obvious as I am new to Cisco Switches.
I am trying to configure a switch that was given to me. They don't know the password to anything. I have already tried to recover it. The problem is, the switch doesn't load flash, or will copy flash from xmodem either. It also doesnt load the helper or boot. It is user mode and lets me do nothing. It doesnt let me use the enable command to get into it. I would like to start the config from scratch. Its a 3500xl switch, 24 ports. I dont know what to do with it. We're going to be switching some of our gear from Foundry to Cisco, and were looking at the WS-C2960S-48TS-L. We currently have 3 different VLAN's, and I wanted to have 1 uplink back to our firewall (ASA 5550) and then let the firewall do the routing between the subnets. I realize that 1 link will carry the traffic twice then, but is that possibly with those switches to have all three vlans assigned to one port and then just let the firewall do the routing between the vlans or would I need to have 3 uplink ports back to the 5550?

This means that i need to backup the cureent (old) ios to my tftp server but the command keeps failing.
