Cisco Switching/Routing :: Add SMB SF300 - 24 Switch To Infrastructure

Nov 18, 2012

I am trying to add a Cisco SMB SF300 - 24 Switch to an infrastructure which has only Cisco Catalyst Switches The Core layer is Cisco Cataylst 4503 . Distribution is Cisco Catalyst 3560 and the Access Layer is Cisco 2960 Switches.There about 30 VLANs present in the infrastructure which is advertised to all switches using VTP. Inter VLAN routing is done at the Core Switches by creating Interface VLANs for every L2 VLAN.

 1. The new VLAN 150 needs to be created on the new Cisco SMB Switch. If I create a corresponding interface VLAN 150 on the Core Switches , will it route traffic to other VLANs just like it is currently working for Cisco Catayst 2960 Switches ?

2. Upon checking I could see that VTP is not supported on Cisco SMB Switches and I would need to go for GVRP if I need to advertise VLAN information to other Switches. But since GVRP is supported only on CatOS and there is no inter operability between GVRP and VTP , I would need to create VLANs manually on the new Switch . Is that correct ?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Trunk Between SF300 And 3560?

Jan 5, 2012

We have purchased 3 no CISCO SF300-48P (Access Switches) with the interest of setting up a new laboratory consisting of 120 desktops. We currently have a CISCO 4507R   (Core Switch) and a CISCO 3560 (Distribution Switch) for the campus wide network. Our network is developed with various VLANS to support Internet and Intranet facilities. The new lab need to be incorporated in to the Campus wide network with a new VLAN ID. But problem is while trunking the CISCO 3560 (Distribution switch) to the CISCO SF300-48P (Access Switch) communication does not happen. While, surfing the internet and various doc's say that SF300 uses GVRP instead of dot1q trunking.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SF300-24p / Access Internet On VLANs

Mar 16, 2013

i have one SF300-24p switch where i setup some Vlans and echolife hg8245 ONT router to access internet. the diagram is the following

VLAN1 (Subnet of users) -----> Switch SF300-24p
VLAN2 (Subnet of users) -----> Switch SF300-24p
VLAN3 (HG8245)  -----> Switch SF300-24p
 VLAN4 (Servers) -----> Switch SF300-24p

i want to control access to internet on VLAN1 and VLAN2 (access on VLAN3), while providing access to VLAN4.My problem is in connecting to internet, i can't find a way to "route back traffic to VLANs 1 and 2 since HG8245 don't seem to provide proper static routing ON LAN interface. Maybe without resorting to changing the HG8245 router ?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: SF300 - Port Security / Possible To Disable?

Aug 2, 2012

I have several SF300 switches deployed (SF300-08, SF300-24P). They are connected to IP Telephones (NEC) which communicate with the switch for auto voice VLAN on LLDP. The problem I am experiencing is that periodically the IP telephones are rebooted by the telephone vendor and when they do the switch puts that port into "Locked" port security mode and discards all traffic to the port. The IP telephones of course do not work. In other switch models, I have seen the ability to enable / disable port security switch wide or on a port by port basis. This model does not appear to have this feature. How to disable or why the phones would cause the switch ports to "lock"? There is usually one PC attached to each phone.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: Upgrade Firmware Linksys SRW224G4?

Jan 14, 2013

I would like to upgrade the firmware on my SRW224G4 switch but I don't know which file I should be using.  When I go to download firmware I see links for the following

"Cisco SRW224G4 24-port 10/100 + 4-port Gigabit Switch - WebView"
Which has firmware 1.2.3.0
"Cisco SRW224G4 24-port 10/100 + 4-port Gigabit Switch - WebView V1.0"
Which has firmware 1.2.2a

I'm not sure which firmware I should use, and the last thing I want is to brick this switc.

Below are the current firmware details

Cisco Routers :: Configuring SF300 For VLAN Routing?

Apr 29, 2013

getting a SF300 to properly route IP between 2 VLANs. I've watched the demo video and performed everything it showed, but I get the most bizarre half-way results. I haven't done anything on Cisco routers in about 15 years, so I'm a little rusty.

We have an office LAN with a cable modem/router for Internet access where the modem/router has IP address 192.168.1.1. We have the usual 24 bit prefix net mask. The SF 300 is connected to this network on port 1.

I have configured port 1 to VLAN 1, interface in Access mode, assigned a static IP address of 192.168.1.36, which is a free address on our office LAN. I have configured port 2 to VLAN 2, interface in Access mode, assigned  a static IP address of 192.168.3.1 I put a static route in the modem/router, pointing 192.168.3.0/24 to 192.168.1.36.

I have a PC on 192.168.3.10 attached to port 2.

The SF300 can ping 192.168.3.1, but not 192.168.3.10. 192.168.3.10 can ping 192.168.3.1. It can also ping 192.168.1.1, and can pull up an HTTP router admin page from 192.168.1.1. 192.168.3.1 can be pinged from anywhere on 192.168.1.x, but 192.168.3.10 cannot be pinged from 192.168.1.x. Finally, 192.168.3.10 cannot ping any other addresses on 192.168.1.x except 192.168.1.1, and cannot reach the Internet.

Here's my configuration:

switch6d919d#show runconfig-file-headerswitch6d919dv1.3.0.59 / R750_NIK_1_3_647_260CLI v1.0set system mode router

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750X Upgrading The Firmware

Apr 2, 2012

I had a strange problem here after upgrading Cisco 3750X.The upgrading was going smoothly, I copied a newer IOS to the flash from another Cisco 3750X through TFTP, changed the boot image.It took a while do to the microcode upgrading, finally, it started to boot up. But when it completes the boot up, I can't see the normal login prompt, but only some strange codes. From what I can see, it seems some decoding problem, as if I plug or unplug a cable from the switch, the strange code pops up again, like in normal situation, the console tells you that the interface is going up and down.

The original image of the switch: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-53.SE2.bin
Upgrade to image: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE3.bin

However, I don't have any problem to telnet to this switch, as it has correct IP address and login configured before the upgrading. I have reboot the switch for couple of times, reconnect to the serial port still doesn't show me anything.I am wonering has any one has met this situation before? detailed message shown after the boot up. cisco WS-C3750X-48 (PowerPC405) processor (revision A0) with 262144K bytes of memory.

I did a firmware upgrade to "SRW224G4P_SRW248G4P_image.bix" on one of the switches at our office and this seemed to fix the problems however after the upgrade was compete the config was blank.  Is that suppose to happen or did I miss something?  I would like to upgrade the firmware on all my our SRW224G4P switches without having to travel to each remote location and reconfigure each switch after the upgrade.

Is there a way I can downgrade the firmware on a C3750 v2 switch 24TS-S v07 to 12.2(35) SE5. I have added this new switch to an existing stack but the FW is not compatable.  Error: The image in the archive which would to used to upgade system number 2 does not support that system type.I haven't as yet removed the "3750G-24TS" switch from the stack and re-tried as yet, however, is the expectation that without the 24TS, the upgrade should work?

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3750 - Firmware Upgrade Of Switch Stack Fails

Actually, all the 4 switches are at the firmware version 12.2(50) SE1 "IPBase" and I want to upgrade them to 12.2(55)SE5 IPBase. According to the release notes, all the switches in my stack are supported.

To upgrade the firmware, I use the command "archive download-sw /imageonly /overwrite tftp://IP_Address/c3750-ipbaselmk9-tar.122-55.SE5.tar" The firmware gets uploaded correctly but then I get the error message "There is insufficient space in flash: to install the required image. Clean up some old images, and try again."

When I do a "show flash", I see that the switch has 5650944 bytes free of 15998976 bytes.

How can i upgrade my switches? Is there an error in my command which I use? Do I need to add an other option?

The problem is, the switches are located in a branch office and there is no direct access to them. Everything must be done remotely.
