View 2 RepliesYesterday I tried to install c2960-lanbasek9.mz.12.55.SE4.bin onto my router. When I changed the boot commands, I did not leave the 2nd option in there and the old firmware has an .ex3 extension. After trying to boot to this new image, we receive a looping error message that continues to reboot and go through the same process.Basically the error is "ERROR: firmware not supported by hardware"I have power cycled it a few times but durning bootup, I never see the ################## which would allow me to BREAK sequence and get into rommon. The device simply waits about 30-40 seconds after boot and goes right back to the looping reboot sequence and the error message. Is there any hyper term or putty settings to change on this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a stack of 4 Cisco Switch 3750 (1 x WS-C3750G-24T, 2 x WS-C3750-48P and 1 x WS-C3750V2-48PS) and I want to do an firmware upgrade of this stack. Actually, all the 4 switches are at the firmware version 12.2(50) SE1 "IPBase" and I want to upgrade them to 12.2(55)SE5 IPBase. According to the release notes, all the switches in my stack are supported.
To upgrade the firmware, I use the command "archive download-sw /imageonly /overwrite tftp://IP_Address/c3750-ipbaselmk9-tar.122-55.SE5.tar" The firmware gets uploaded correctly but then I get the error message "There is insufficient space in flash: to install the required image. Clean up some old images, and try again."
When I do a "show flash", I see that the switch has 5650944 bytes free of 15998976 bytes.
How can i upgrade my switches? Is there an error in my command which I use? Do I need to add an other option?
The problem is, the switches are located in a branch office and there is no direct access to them. Everything must be done remotely.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a C2960-24TT-L Switch with the following problem:When the Power Cord is plugged in the Switch, all switch indicator LEDs go on very briefly. Then SYST LED blinks very briefly, goes on steady and remains at this state without any indication at the console.Tried the reset by holding the MODE button while plugging in power but I still get no indication at the console. All is fine with console, meaning that if I take out the cable and plug it in another switch, then I see all that there is there to be seen.My question: Is the switch beyond repair or is there something that can be done to get the switch to run POST and boot at rommon so that I can reload SW and configs?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a C2960 (sw01) and a C2948. (sw02) The sw02 switch is trunked with sw01, and is meant to serve as an extension to the VLANs (1-4) that exist on sw01. It is trunking properly, however, how would I go about giving the sw02 an IP so that I can access it via SSH? Would I have to create a VLAN specifically on sw02 with an ip and switchport an interface to use it? I know that a VLAN can only have a single IP, but I'd like sw02 to have an IP on VLAN1 (192.168.1.0 subnet), is that possible?

Unfortunately this doesn't work as expected, every connection attempt is resetted.We did a trace of the ssh connection attempt where you can see that there is some problem in the algorithm negotiation (see attachment).

Normal symptoms are; I can ping the switch but cannot get to the login promot via telnet, ssh, or web-gui even though the ports are open. And how to plugged into the switch after this happens canont reach my router for DHCP.
I did a firmware upgrade to "SRW224G4P_SRW248G4P_image.bix" on one of the switches at our office and this seemed to fix the problems however after the upgrade was compete the config was blank. Is that suppose to happen or did I miss something? I would like to upgrade the firmware on all my our SRW224G4P switches without having to travel to each remote location and reconfigure each switch after the upgrade.
Got 2 pcs. of C2950G-24-EI which are both running 12.1(9)EA1. Now I was thinking to upgrade them to the latest available (12.1.22-EA14), but before I do this task I'd like to know if there's a way to check in advance if those images will run. Any way to check about available memory or memory needs?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt baffles me because the admin console doesn't look like it will browse your computer for a firmware update. Rather, it prefers you to specify a tftp or http server. I don't know how I'd set up my computer to be the http or tftp server and it doesn't really go into detail on what configurations or commands that would need to be used. I've used a tftp client in the past to send a firmware to routers and whatnot but not serve one.

I am now trying to upgrade those switches with the new release, 15.0(1)SE3, however I seem unable to do it, I have tried this on two switches so far, both have been upgraded to SE2 just a couple months ago or so, and both of them will not accept the SE3 upgrade, basically, I can select the tar file in the web browser and click "Upgrade" but when I do the status never changes from "Loading the tar file to the switch". I have tried multiple times from multiple computers using many different web browsers, including IE6 which is listed as supported. I have let it go for as long as 1.5 hours but to no avail.I also had a few idential switches here that had never been upgarded to SE2, I have had no problems loading SE3 onto them using the same method so it would seem that the tar file I have downloaded is valid.

We have two 3560G-TS-E running 12.2(35)se2, configured as HSRP. Both are running ntp config "ntp peer 210.72.145.44" and it's pretty well that they get the correct time. Yesterday I upgraded the second device to IOS 12.2(58)se2 and ntp doesn't work now. I checked doc that 12.2(58)se2 runs ntp default version 4 so I change to "ntp peer 210.72.145.44 version 3" but still not work. I put here "show ntp" result for different IOS.

I have installed Cisco 2955 Switch which already have x.x.x.x EA12 IOS and I copied x.x.x.x.EA13 into the flash: with intention to have EA13 enabled for IOS. I set the Global config for boot system by 'boot system (no falsh)x.x.EA13;x.x.EA12' but then also no luck and was showing EA12 in 'sh ver'. I then deleted the EA12 IOS and set the 'boot system flash:x.x.EA13'. I also had varified IOS EA13 by 'verify flash:IOS Filename', it verified the IOS.
But when I reloaded my switch, I'm unable to login and its in 'switch:' prompt (ROMmon mode - I believe). I then tried for flash_init, load_helper, dir flash: (showing me EA13 there) and finally boot flash:IOS Image file but no good news here... Output like this
