View 7 Replies View RelatedOur customer has a stack of 6 3750G switches. They want to add another switch to the stack. I tried to quote another G, but I got a warning that the G series is EOS January 30,2013. Can I add a 3750X to the stack? I know that no matter what switch I get, I will have to upgrade the IOS in the stack, as the stack is running 12.2(25)SEE2.

Switch 1 - 3750X-24P
Switch 2 - 3750G-24TS

Running 12.2(53)SE2, IP base. Now I tried upgrading the firmware on the entire stack to 12.2(55)SE4 and ran into this error:(Command: archive download-sw /imageonly /overwrite /allow-feature-upgrade tftp://10.20.20.13/c3750e-universalk9-tar.122-55.SE4.tar)
Error: The image in the archive which would to used to upgade system number 2 does not support that system type.I haven't as yet removed the "3750G-24TS" switch from the stack and re-tried as yet, however, is the expectation that without the 24TS, the upgrade should work?

I have one 3750X with C3KX-NM-10GT, I need to interconnect using stackwise to 3750G-24TS. The 3750X needs IOS 15.0(1) to use C3KX-NM-10GT, and the latest IOS for 3750G-24TS is 12.2.55. How can I interconnect them using diferent IOS?

We had a stack of 4 qty 3750g running IP base on ver 12.2.32, then installed a 3750x to the stack and upgraded the whole stack to 15.0.2 SE3. In doing so, we noticed that the memory utilization jumped from 60-70% to 83-84%.
We had the same issue occur when upgrading to 15.0.2 SE3 on another stack that was 6 qty 3750g running ip-services, but this one jumped to 90%. On the 6 qty stack, we downgraded to 12.2.55 and the memory util went back down to 60-70%.
On the mixed stack, we replaced the 3750x with another 3750g and downgraded the whole stack to 12.2.55, however, the memory utilization did not drop down. As far as I can tell, no config changes have changed from the original IOS.
Any experience with bundling a 10GB interface on a 3750G-16TD-S with a WS-C3750X-48T-S with a 10GB interface. I have worked with 5 different TAC engineers and so far I have not gotten an answer on why the switch will not let me bundle the 10GB with another 10GB interface.
Same switch Stack – not a cross stack.
Tried every configuration possible with no luck. I originally thought it might be the stack-ring speed – I corrected that today and it is running at 32GB –
The only thing I can think of now is it might be a hardware limitation on the 3750G-16TD-S ?
Q. What performance of the 10 Gigabit Ethernet port on the Cisco Catalyst WS-C3750G-16TD switches?
A. The Ten Gigabit Ethernet uplink on the Cisco Catalyst WS-C3750G-16TD switches is 1.25:1 oversubscribed and provides maximum throughput of 8Gb/s. –

View 5 Replies View RelatedI got Two Distribution Switches of Cisco 3750G. Each Distribution have two 3750G switches stacked. I also have one Cisco 3750V2 Access Switch connected to both Distribution. When I am checking for redundancy, I can only get redundancy test pass for one link not atall for other. If I have a link up with Distribution 1 only then its fine; but disappointment with Distribution 2 link. I can see that the switch priorities of Dist 2 is not correct ie. Master's priority is 10 and Member's is 15.
My question is that due to misconfigured priorities on Distribution 2 stack switches I am failing with redundancy if ONLY Dist 2 is up and Dist 1 is down.
I am trying to stack a 3750g with a 3750x. At the moment they will not stack with their current IOS as the hardware version is mismatched.
According to various posts this is possible as long as the same IOS is in use. The following IOS are currently in use:
3750g - c3750-ipbaselmk9-tar.122-55.SE5
3750x - c3750e-ipbasek9-mz.150-1.SE3
I have tried to downgrade the IOS on the 'X' to 122-55.SE5 however, i get errors regarding firmware incompatibility.
I am unable to upgrade the IOS on the 'G' to 150-1.SE3, as the size of the IOS image is larger than the available flash (Version 15 IOS for the 3750G (c3750-ipbasek9-mz.150-1.SE3.bin) is 16,074,189 bytes whereas the 3750G has 16MB of flash memory or 15,998,976 bytes total which mean the IOS will not fit).
Has not actually stacked these devices successfully? I understand there may be license implications of upgrading to 15 but at the moment I just want them to stack!
I am about rip and replace my current 3750G stack with a 3750X stack. I have trunked over vlan and vtp info and implemented a config so it should be ready to go other then moving cables onto it. However one thing I want to correct with our current setup is that the root bridge on our vlans including vlan 1 is on a separate set of switches that we control, however I would like this new stack to be the root bridge for all of our vlans. It will be the central set of switches that all other switches trunk into. I have pre-set higher spanning-tree priorities for each vlan on the new stack so I expect as I move lines into it that the tree will be re-calculated with it as the root bridge. I've ensured that there are no root guards on any of the other switches trunks and priorities are all at default levels for each vlan. Should I enforce root guard on the trunk interfaces of the new master stack? Most of the trunks are port-channels to the other switches - do I need to set root guard on the Port channel interface or on the individual ports that make up the Port channel? On both? Any other recommendations in regards to implementing spanning-tree with the new stack? I know using port channels eliminates a lot of potential for loops but not every trunk is and I'd still like to have spanning-tree on.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running out of ports on a 4507R and would like to use a 3750G-24TS stack that I already have to expand capacity. Is it possible to configure EtherChannel between the 4507R and the 3750G stack and if so what is the best way to do it? without LACP, with active-active mode LACP or passive-active mode LACP...
This is what I have in mind:On the 4507R side I would like to use interface GigabitEthernet3/5 and interface GigabitEthernet4/5 where modules 3 and 4 on the 4507R are "6 1000BaseX (GBIC) (WS-X4306-GB)". On the 3750G side I would like to use ports 28 on both switches in the stack which are equipped with Cisco GLC-T= 1000BASE-T SFP transceiver module for Category 5 copper wire with RJ-45 connector. [URL] Cross-Stack EtherChannel Without PAgP or LACP should look like this:
3750switchstackA(config)#interface gigabitethernet 1/0/28
3750switchstackA(config-if)#channel-group 1 mode on
3750switchstackA(config-if)#switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
3750switchstackA(config-if)#switchport mode trunk
3750switchstackA(config)#interface gigabitethernet 2/0/28
3750switchstackA(config-if)#channel-group 1 mode on
[code]....
is that what I should be doing? is there any benefit to the active-active mode LACP or passive-active mode LACP and which are applicable to the case above?

I have ruled out the stackwise cable as the problem but would like to know which switch has the problem
I currently have Cisco 3750G which is currently live and active and fully populated and only have remote access.
I have an additional same switch which I would like to stack. My initial plans were to have 2 GIbit etherchannels, but I came across the option to Stacks both switch with each other.
When I do a show switch on the live switch its set as a Member: [code]
I would like to add the new switch to the stack without losing the config for the switch which is live. I understand that the highest priority of the switches becomes the Master but as the live switch is Priority 1, would chancing this affect the switches config, or would it lose connection at all?
Also when I plug in the new switch and it reboot how do I ensure it becomes the slave without rebooting the live switch? The cables on the switch do they have to go to port1 on the live switch and port 1 on the new switch or can they be port 1 and port 2?
I'm trying to review a QoS setup, and I'd like to make sure I fully understand the current setup before I change anything. I'm seeing output drops on two different queue-thresholds, but not sure how packets are making it to one of the queues.

I can find queue4-threshold3 in the mappings, but how are packets getting mapped to queue2-threshold1? The priority queue is disabled for this interface, so I'm not sure how this queue is dropping packets, according to the maps nothing is mapped to 02-01.
This 3750X stack (3 members) has some 100% cpu spikes. Is this bad enough to start tracking down the cause(s) or is this somewhat typical and not a reason for concern? I just took this reading. How can you detemine when the 100% and 80% spikes occurred?

I recently created a stack using (2) 3750x switches. I have three vlans on the stack (1,105,241) Vlan 105 is configured on 6509 core switches with multicasting and are connected to the stack via gigabit fiber. It is working well with clients on the Master or SW1, however clients on SW2 do not participate in multicasting Any client pc that is connected to SW2 vlan 105 does not show up in the "sh ip igmp snooping group" command. I can statically assign a client on SW2 to the mcast groups but but they fail to register on their own. I can take the cable connection from SW2 and plug it into an SW1 Vlan 105 port and it immediately becomes a member of the groups. I can then connect it back to the SW2 port and it disappears from the group membership. IGMP and PIM are configured with the defaults.

way to upgrade the IOS in my stack on 4 3750x switches
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a stack of three 3750X-24P-S switches. Each switch has two PSU's.If I do a SH INVENT, switch 2 only lists Power Supply 0
If, however I do a SESS 2 onto the second switch in the stack and then do a SH INVENT, it shows both power supplies. Is it anything to be concerned about?
I have two WS-C3750X-48PF-S in stack, but every one has just one power supply. In the package of the switches is included one stack power supply cable.does it make sense to use stack power cable if every switch has just one power supply ??
View 6 Replies View RelatedSwitch 2 has an interface configured in RSU Standby.Switch 3 has an interface configured in RSU active. The upgrading sequence is : Switch 2, Switch 1, Switch3.The aim of the test is to prove that there is no loss of IP connectivity throught the RSU process.During the RSU process, there are ping between all the computers.
IOS starting version : 15.0-1.SE3
IOS upgrading version (with OVERWRITE) : 15.0-1.SE3 (same version)
1rst step : Switch 2 reboot and come back master but isolated from original stack (switch 1 and 3)
2nd step : Switch 1 reboot, and come back with switch 2 into the upgrading stack.
Issue : at this step :
- Switch 1 put its interface (IP 192.168.5.254) up :
- Switch 3 has not reboot and still has its interface (IP 192.168.5.254) up
=> we have some OSPF adjencies and mac flapping issues : switch 1 and 3 are trying to mount there OSPF adjencies on the same IP. We loss our IP connectivity since step 3 is not over.
3rd step : Switch 3 reboot and come back up in the upgrading stack. The IP connectivity is back, and the RSU process is done.Is that a normal behaviour ?How can we avoid to loose IP connectivity during RSU process ?
