As per my understanding, Cisco Nexus 2232 can only connect to HP c7000 Chassis if we are using a Pass Through Switch in the HP c7000. Cisco Nexus 2232 can only connect to End Hosts and not to a switch. Is there a New Feature added in Nexus 2232, which enables it to connect to a Switch like HP Flex Fabric ?

I am in the process of migrating our existing server farm subnets to our new Nexus server farm and I discovered something I wasn’t expecting. My intention is to migrate our existing legacy server farm which is comprised of for paired 3750 switches off of our core 6509s and onto the Nexus and connect them to the 2232s via multi gig port-channel connections, two port channels per switch stack.
NOTE this is expected to be a temporary move as next year we intend to install additional N2Ks and move servers over to these directly. But to minimize the outage/downtime it will be better to move the subnets and switchs all at once.
These connections would be grouped 1 gig connections as port channels, one from each switch into one of the two 2232s.
Problem I discovered is Cisco does not intend to have switches connected to the Nexus and it immediately disables the ports when they see BPDUs.
I found a config that does work and it does fail over from one port-channel connection to the other but with the limitation that when the original port channel comes back online it does not fail back over to the original one, an acceptable situation for us. But I am wondering if Cisco would support this design if we did experience issues down the road.
The only issue I really see is to get it to work the config is different on the two N5Ks, see the pert config below for the connections. Both are running the same OS

we installed copper and fiber sfp modules in the 2232PP and none would link up. we pulled the sfp modules out and entered the speed 1000 command and re-inserted the module with no success. the same sfp modules works fine in every other cisco device. we must be missing something. running latest nx-os software.

Need clarification on the VPC with 5k and 2248 Fabric Extenders. My question is can each fabric extender uplink to two different 5ks, and at the same time, have servers connected to two both fabric extenders with a VPC.So basically, the server NIC will team with two different fabric extenders, and each fabric extender will connect to two different 5k's.

I have looked up and down cisco's and google web for steps, but they are all coming back with the answer to just disconnect the power cables after you have power down all the windows os and exs servers. Before i do that, I just wanted to make sure that that's the correct way to do it or if there are actual commands that I will need to run on the devices to properly power down. I know that the FI do have a command to reboot, but i need them to completely be power down.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am looking at the utilization on a Catalyst 3560-E. I am running a test with eight 1 GIGE links RXing at 95 % utilization. All of the traffic is going to a TenGigE port. The device on the TenGigE port is echoing back all of the traffic received, so the 1 GIG links are TXing at 95% as well.When I do a "show controllers utilization", the port utilization numbers are correct, but the fabric utilization is higher than I would expect. The fabric should be 128 gigbits / second in this switch, and there is 7.6 gigabits TX/RX to the ten gig port. The fabric utilization is at 49%. I would expect 7.6 / 128 = 5.9% or possible double that. [code]

I have configured each VPC for each floor and portchannel configuration on 2960s switch to communicate to 5K switches. Now I am not able to communicate PC 1 connected in 1st floor to PC2 connected in 4th Floor.
I have attached topology map of my infra and the configuration files also. 1st floor switch and 4th floor swich have same configuration except IP address and switch name.
I have a big doubt. Can I connect a LAN switch (i.e. 2960, 3560 or 3750) to a couple of Nexus 2000 FEX (i.e 2232P or 2248TP) and have a Port-Channel or vPC with STP active and several VLANs through this Port-Channel? Or Can I only connect servers to these N2K FEX?

We had professional services handle the initial configuration but they weren't able to setup config sync for us. Each Fex is connected to each 5k, so we need a switch-profile to maintain a consistent setup on our interfaces. We would like to add another Nexus5k to this topology. However, it has to be a zero downtime infrastructure add-on. When setting up the keep-alive, peer-link, vPC and vdc domain, will there be any upset in network traffic on the current N5k?Also, are the Nexus5k configurations synchronized or are they independent from one another? Before setting up the new 5k, should i configure it to teh 6509's, and vPC's to the Nexus2k's before setting up peer-link?
My network consist of that network device. cisco catalyst 3750 with stackwise, 2xnexsus 5000 series and servers.servers connected to nexsus switch. nexsus connect to 3750.
Each server have two link, one of them connect nexsus1 and other connect to nexsus2 switch.(same traffic) each nexsus have one link to 3750. At 3750 the nexsus link configurate etherchannel. but the flapping occur at 3750.
i understand that at 2 nexsus link have the same server source mac address so the flapping occur at 3750. how i solve this problem?
Trying to find some documentation as to whether there are any other steps for inserting this new module in our N7K. We have 2 blades in already and 2 Sups in 5 & 6. I'm assuming its like the 6500s, where we just slide it in and the OS configures the global parms for it and the default VLAN.

We have Nexus 5K switches at the aggregation layer and VPC domain has been configured on them. VPC domain includes switches at the access layer as an identity.But when primary switch reboots failover didn,t happened. View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to enable command authorization for ssh as well as console access to a Nexus 7010 box (version 5.0). Following is the config:

As you can see, the default group configuration ACS5-1 for authenticatoin has applied to both defaults and console. But the command authorization does not appear to be applied to the console. As a result, when i login from the console and get authenticated, the command authorization does not trigger and i can run commands I'm not supposed to. In the configuration, I do not see "aaa authorization console" option unlike we have in IOS.

we have e requirement for a Nexus 5000 switch to be accessed and managed inband, ie the Management interface can't be connected to the rest of our networks management VLAN because the switch is remote and only connected via fibre. We have enabled the interface VLAN feature and configured an interface VLAN but can't seem to PING the IP address configured on it ?
