I have a pair of 2248 Fex's where I'm currently terminating several VPC's to the servers, each with one port per Fex. Is it possible to run a VPC to a server with 4 ports, i.e 2 ports per Fex? I saw some discussions indicating it wasn't possible on a 2148 Fex, but would be on the 2248. The ports will just a dot1q trunks

The reason is because a consultant was hired on to "design" the network layout and has decided to purchase Cisco SFP+ Copper Twinax Cables which have a 10M limit. A small handful of the Data Center racks are 10-15M away... just out of reach of the Twinax. I would prefer NOT to move the LAN row so that it is more centered in the room. Can I use the SFP-10G-SR to connect the 2 switches (5596 & 2248) together? This SFP has a 26M reach on standard 10gig fiber, the small cost increase per connection is of no concern.

It was told to me that now, as of a fairly recent NX-OS release, you can have the 2248 going dual-homed to both 5548 via VPC and then have a server connected to both 2248 and be in active-active mode. Is this correct?
When we first deployed our 5548 and 2248 we had to put the 2248 in a straight pin mode, where it only had connections to one 5548 and then the server would dual connect to the 2248's and be in active-active mode. I was told that this changed with an NX-OS release however documentation still seems to be fragmented on what exactly is the case.
I have a pair of 5596 running in a vPC with Nexus 2248 connected to each N5596. When I do the command "show fex" I get the following output on the 2nd 5596

I'm running version 5.1(3)N1(1) on both of the 5K's. I have looked through all the configuration and I am not understanding why I am getting this error. I have tried to look it up on [URL], but not having a ton of luck.
I have a dual-homed fabric (Nexus 2248 dual attached to two Nexus 5020's via vPC). On this Nexus 2248 is a server that has a four port LACP etherchannel. The ports do not appear to be load balancing correctly. The output below shows the four ports in use and it clearly shows port e138/1/10 as getting the most use. When I use the "show port-channel load-balance forwarding-path..." command on either of the vPC switches for various source and destination IP's that use this link, it shows them correctly load-balancing across the four ports. But we do not see this when looking at stats on both the server side and the switch side.

i have a VSS core that has 4 downstream links to 4 stacked switches. I connected each of the 4 links to different switch in the switch stack. I then created a port-channel that combines all the links from each switch. Is there any issues associated with this setup?

We are hoping to have 10G Dark Fiber between the buildings and therefore dedicate a pair for FCOE between the cores using 10G Long Range SFP's. I read that the Nexus 5000 series had a limit of ~3 km for FCOE. Does the same hold true for the 7000 series? I thought I read somehwere that the buffers were larger on the 7000 series and therefore would be able to do ~30 km.

Now I want to upgrade the stack with a minimum of downtime for the connected hosts. The hosts are connected to the stack via cross-stack etherchannels. So my question is: How can I upgrade the stack and reboot the members with a minimum of downtime? If I use the archive download-sw command with the /reload-option, the stack is reloaded and the result will be downtime for the hosts while th stack is reloading. Is it possible to upgrade the stack and then reboot the members one by one in a controlled manner?

I am having a strange issue where I can connect to the master via the console, get a login prompt then I can log in, but when I try and connect to any of the members then I get a prompt "Press RETURN to get started" When I push return, it just loops back to the same prompt again:

I notice that show inventory not showing all members in a 3750-stack after we merged two stacks. Its only showing the master of the new stack, and the previous master of the old stack.

Number of existing VLANs : 245
When the VTP mode is changed to transparent, VLANs from the extended range can be added without increasing the number of existing VLANs - e.g. if I create VLANs 3000 - 4000 the number of existing VLANs is still listed as 245.
If MST is used to cut down on the number of spanning-tree instances - and assuming propagation of VLAN configuration via VTP is not required - is there any downside to using transparent-mode VTP to increase the number of available VLANs? It does feel like I'm cheating the maximum listed in the datasheet.

We are experiencing output drops on our 3750G-12S (IOS 12.2.55).
I have monitored throughput with MRTG, but it doesn't seem that high compared to that the 3750G is supposed to handle 17.8 Mpps.
The 3750G's are stacked, running ospf, qos, multicast (IPTV) and etherchannel.Is the maximum throughput reduced by stacking or any of the other features?
I don't know if one can estimate what the maximum throughput is per ASIC or per port, but on one of the ASICs that is having drops the peak unicast load is 1.3 Mpps and multicast Mpps is 0.9 Mpps. Total ~2.2 Mpps.
This doesn't seem high at all and I don't understand why the drops are appearing. What I can do to find out the reason for these drops?
Are you only able to have two sessions for port mirroring on a Cisco 4510?
