i have a VSS core that has 4 downstream links to 4 stacked switches. I connected each of the 4 links to different switch in the switch stack. I then created a port-channel that combines all the links from each switch. Is there any issues associated with this setup?
View 9 RepliesI have a 3750X stack of 6 switches, I have a terminal server console server plugged into the console ports of all 6 switches. I am having a strange issue where I can connect to the master via the console, get a login prompt then I can log in, but when I try and connect to any of the members then I get a prompt "Press RETURN to get started" When I push return, it just loops back to the same prompt again:

I can connect to the stack via SSH fine etc. I am running 15.0(1)SE2. The stack is configured for TACACS+ auth via Cisco ACS.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Catalyst 2960S-switches configured in a stack. The uplink is configured as a cross-stack etherchannel. Now I want to upgrade the stack with a minimum of downtime for the connected hosts. The hosts are connected to the stack via cross-stack etherchannels. So my question is: How can I upgrade the stack and reboot the members with a minimum of downtime? If I use the archive download-sw command with the /reload-option, the stack is reloaded and the result will be downtime for the hosts while th stack is reloading. Is it possible to upgrade the stack and then reboot the members one by one in a controlled manner?

I have a pair of 2248 Fex's where I'm currently terminating several VPC's to the servers, each with one port per Fex. Is it possible to run a VPC to a server with 4 ports, i.e 2 ports per Fex? I saw some discussions indicating it wasn't possible on a 2148 Fex, but would be on the 2248. The ports will just a dot1q trunks
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhat I am attempting to achieve is to aggregate trunk ports out of a VMware server into a single logical connection to give as much bandwidth as possible, the switches are 3750X and are three stacked together with the server connections spread across the stack. What I am not sure about is if two port channel load balance protocols can happy co-exist on the switch, by default the switch is using MAC address load balancing and Vmware wants to use IP Source load balancing. As other trunks and channels exist on the switch I don't want to make a change that will affect the other live connections if changing this is a global setting and not local on the channel.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to tear down an existing port-channel on a 3750X running c3750e-universalk9-mz.150-1.SE3.bin. This port channel is currently down down. It has three ports in it that will be added one each to three existing port-channels, I am assuming as long as the "channel-group" command is exactly the same as it is on the three existing port-channels I should be ok just adding the new port. One point to note is that the three existing port-channels all have three ports so this will be adding the fourth port to each port-channel. I know after reading that it is a best practice for load balancing to use either 2, 4, or 8 ports for a port-channel. Also what is the command to see all ports that are in a port channel?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've two wlc model CT5508 version 7.0.116.0. They are working fine except for the RF grouping part. When I look at the RF Group members part in the configuration, I can see only one wlc (the one I'm connected to). If I connect to the second one, in the same part, I've just one controller (so the second one..). I tried to restart the algorithm but no change. Each controller is configured with Group Mode set to auto, and their respective role are auto-leader...I tried to change the RF group name on both wlcs, but it didn't fix the problem. When I look at the logs, there is one which appear quite often:

bit of a newbie to this call manager stuff but I was having a bit of a play earlier and for the life of me I can not see an easy way to list which directory numbers are in a particular pickup group. I can see the list of pickup groups and how to assign the directory number to a pickup group but surely there's an easy way to find out which numbers are in a particular pickup group???

2 x 3750G Switches configured as a stack using Stackwise - Collapsed Core/Distribution Layer
5 x 2960G Switches as Access Layer switches
WAN connections into the Core/Distribution Layer are all Gigabit Ethernet over Fibre.This is a dedicated CCTV Network with 50 Cameras all streaming video into the Core (decoders connected to access switches)Each 2960G has 2 links to the Core/Distribution 3750G Switches, 1 to each switch - Gigabit.I'm running rapid-pvst on all switches, so spanning tree is blocking one of the ports and effectively halving the 2 gig bandwidth. Next year our customer is going to add in a further 50 - 60 cameras.After monitoring the current loading on the ports in use, we have suggested to the customer that the 2 connections to each should be Ether-channeled together. I can find queue4-threshold3 in the mappings, but how are packets getting mapped to queue2-threshold1? The priority queue is disabled for this interface, so I'm not sure how this queue is dropping packets, according to the maps nothing is mapped to 02-01.
This 3750X stack (3 members) has some 100% cpu spikes. Is this bad enough to start tracking down the cause(s) or is this somewhat typical and not a reason for concern? I just took this reading. How can you detemine when the 100% and 80% spikes occurred?

I recently created a stack using (2) 3750x switches. I have three vlans on the stack (1,105,241) Vlan 105 is configured on 6509 core switches with multicasting and are connected to the stack via gigabit fiber. It is working well with clients on the Master or SW1, however clients on SW2 do not participate in multicasting Any client pc that is connected to SW2 vlan 105 does not show up in the "sh ip igmp snooping group" command. I can statically assign a client on SW2 to the mcast groups but but they fail to register on their own. I can take the cable connection from SW2 and plug it into an SW1 Vlan 105 port and it immediately becomes a member of the groups. I can then connect it back to the SW2 port and it disappears from the group membership. IGMP and PIM are configured with the defaults.

If, however I do a SESS 2 onto the second switch in the stack and then do a SH INVENT, it shows both power supplies. Is it anything to be concerned about?
i want to realize a 20gb ring stp with 6 3750x stacked by 2. I want to install 2 3750x stacked configured in hsrp mode with other 2 3750 stacked. These 2 different stack are interconnected by a cross-stack ether channel 20Gb fiber. On the other side of the room i want to create a new stack with 2 3750x with cross-stack ether channel 20gb connected with the previous 2 stacks. So, in total 3 different cross-stack ether channel 20Gb stacks interconnected creating a ring stp of 20 Gb.

The upgrading sequence is : Switch 2, Switch 1, Switch3.The aim of the test is to prove that there is no loss of IP connectivity throught the RSU process.During the RSU process, there are ping between all the computers.
IOS starting version : 15.0-1.SE3
IOS upgrading version (with OVERWRITE) : 15.0-1.SE3 (same version)
1rst step : Switch 2 reboot and come back master but isolated from original stack (switch 1 and 3)
2nd step : Switch 1 reboot, and come back with switch 2 into the upgrading stack.
Issue : at this step :
- Switch 1 put its interface (IP 192.168.5.254) up :
- Switch 3 has not reboot and still has its interface (IP 192.168.5.254) up
=> we have some OSPF adjencies and mac flapping issues : switch 1 and 3 are trying to mount there OSPF adjencies on the same IP. We loss our IP connectivity since step 3 is not over.
3rd step : Switch 3 reboot and come back up in the upgrading stack. The IP connectivity is back, and the RSU process is done.Is that a normal behaviour ?How can we avoid to loose IP connectivity during RSU process ?
I've a situation where I need to add a new 3750x to a existing stack of 3750. [code] When I tried to stack them together, I get a version mismatch error. We recently configured a stack of four 48 port 3750-x switches . We are noticing high CPU usage. "Hulc LED process" seems pretty high. This has coincided with VMware servers getting slow and non-responsive at times, perhaps a coincidence, not sure. Below I provided some outputs about how to diagnose it.
