Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3548 XL - Cluster Switches Using CLI?
Nov 25, 2011I am looking to cluster the aforementioned switches using the CLI. All the documentation that I have found all speak to performing the cluster configuration using CMS. I can only get to these switches via remote console so a GUI is out of the question for me. My ultimate goal is to configure these (2) switches for HSRP. Howver, everything that I found leads me to believe that I have to cluster in order to confiure the HSRP on these switches.

Dec 4, 2011I'm using CISCO 3524 switch as access switch and trying to enable voice vlan in fast eth ports as below.
L3 vlans are created in core switches which is cisco 6509
vlan 1 - data vlan
vlan 2 - voice vlan
in cisco 3524

if i use the above configs, the phone which is connected to interface fa0/1 is not taking ip from dhcp server. even it didn't work with static configs.while troubelshooting, i have configured as below and it's started working..
int fa0/1
switchport acces vlan 2
speed 100
duplex full.
in this case i can't use this port for data connectivity where as it's required for data too.

Oct 20, 2012When you aggregate multiple fiber GBICs together on the 3508G, do you configure it as an etherchannel, or as fibre-channel? I've looked around online for hours, but can't find it mentioned anywhere.

Oct 19, 2012I have a small lab setup and I am trying to implement an IDS/IPS on the network. I have 3 VLANs setup (10, 20, and 30) with the switch and a router allowing for inter-vlan communication. Port FA 0/1 on the switch is setup as a trunk using 802.1Q connected to a single interface on the router.
I want to be able to monitor traffic on the trunk link on the switch and replicate that to the IDS/IPS host. Is there a way I can mirror traffic from FA 0/1 (the trunk link) to a regular access port on the switch which would connect to the IDS/IPS?
I have seen several articles on Cisco.com saying that you can have a source port as a multi-vlan link, but others say it is not possible. I did not have a chance to get into the lab to test this yet or else I would have.
Cisco Switching/Routing :: Nexus 3548 - Error / VPC Feature Is Not Supported
Jan 27, 2013We have purchased two new Nexus 3548 switches. According to documenation the Nexus 3K does support vPC. When trying to enable the feature I get this:
nexus(config)# feature vpc
Error: vPC feature is not supported
nexus(config)#
We are running software version version 5.0(3)A1(1) and it looks like the latest version is 5.0(3)A1(2) so that's not much of a difference.Am I missing something here?

Nov 18, 2011If I have two stackable switches one switch uplinks to one 6509 core switch and the other connection uplinks to another 6509 core switch, and also the other stackable switch does not connect to the core switches. Because I am using hsrp and also we are not using vss then one uplink to the core is not in used only ones is so then how does creating an etherchannel between does two uplinks to both core switches benefit me in anyway such as more bandwith and using both uplinks at the same time or I'm I wrong?

The problem I am running into is that the console is password protected. I have found the password recovery procedure for this switch, but it requires the use of the mode button. I have tried this process several times and the flash file is loaded with the startup config file. How do I perform a password recovery on a switch with a broken mode button?

Dec 11, 2012 so I work with a debt consolidating company. We have about 300+ users, and som of the issues I get are network issues from random users. The issue is that there is a lost in connection and they are completely disconnected from the network. I look at the port number labeled at their cubicle and check the switch they are connected too and this is what I see on the switch. Which by the way is a dell PowerConnect 3548 switch.URL
After removing from those ports and placing the patch cable into another port it works normally. But after a few days this issue returns only to find it with a different user.

I've made maybe 1 diagram on my own thus far and have edited a few. I want to create physical and logical diagrams but I'm not quite sure what to include and what not to include on either since I haven't seen a wealth of diagrams up to this point in my career.

2nd question: Our network is setup like this... A stack of 3 3750s act as our "Core" and have a 2 port etherchannel to every layer 2 2960 switch (15) in the network. In a physical diagram, 30 links would make it a little busy, hell even 15 links represented as the etherchannels would be busy

Mar 11, 2012We have a pair of N7K distribution switches connected to a pair of N7K Aggregation switches.We run vPC on both pairs of n7k's.
-n7k-d1 has two interfaces in a Port-Channel connecting to n7k-a1 & n7k-a2. (PC1)
-n7k-d2 also has two interfaces in a Port-Channel connecting to n7k-a1 & n7k-a2. (PC2)
My problem is that Spanning-Tree is blocking PC2 and all traffic from n7k-d2 is traversing the Peer-Link before reaching the Aggregation layer. Is this the best design for connecting two pairs of n7k's with vPC or if a better design would be to connect all 4 links into the same Port-Channel and vPC?

Nov 25, 2011I got a strange incident happening to my work computer. Whenever i step away from my desk and come back only to find Icons of files mapped to other network drives other than my local drive have disappeared from desktop. I have to restart my computer to get these back. It only happens when i have walked away from my PC and I have verified that no one has sat at my desk to use my computer while I'm away. The other PC are also networked to the same servers as mine and theirs are not affected at all.

Nov 21, 2012I am using a 3750 as a default gateway for multiple Vlans on a few 2960 switches. The trunk lines are configured and working and I have assigned ip addresses to each of the Vlan interfaces on the 3750. My issue is that I can only ping the ip address on the Vlan interface of the 3750 if I have a working computer plugged directly into the Vlan on the 3750. I only have 3 vlans on the 3750 that have hosts directly connected (vlans 2, 10 and 40) the other vlans ( 20 and 70) don't have any clients plugged into them on the 3750 but the hosts reside on 2 different 2960s that connect via trunk ports. How do I keep the vlan interface on the 3750 switch pingable when I don't have hosts directly connected in that vlan on the 3750? (yes, I have enabled ip routing on the 3750)
