I have and office that the cable modem tends to go down on the weekend. Can i setup my asa to support a second provider so that if the one connection is slow for some reason, my users could connect to the second provider instead? they would both be used at the same time most the time.
View 3 RepliesI have a friend that have in his company an ASA5505 at central point and about 5 remote sites connected via Vpn site-to-site.All tunnels are up and reach the central network.The only traffic that pass throw the tunnel is the traffic with the ASA local network destination.
My friend asked me what it needs to reach from one Vpn remote site to another Vpn remote site, passing throw the ASA5505 central site.The ASA5505 can reach all remote networks throw the tunnels.
What it needs for the ASA to route traffic between the VPN´s tunnels?Does it need static routes on the remote sites to advertise the other remote sites ?
When I check available Wi-Fi networks it says "No connections are available. All of our other computers work so I dont know what the problem is. When I check device manager for the adapter it says my adapter is enabled so I dont know what the problem is. How can I get it to recognize my wi-fi?

My laptop has suddenly stopped connecting wirelessly. Just fine with ethernet though. My Wireless adapter is enabled and showing fine in Device Manager and has the latest driver. Wireless Zero Configuration is enabled in services. I tried simply disabling and then re-enabling the wireless adapter but still no luck. I tried selecting the repair option for the wireless adapter and I get the exclamation in yellow triangle deal. I checked to see if I was having issues with firewall and that's not it either. When I click "View Available Wireless Networks" the dozen or so networks that use to appear are gone. I power cycled and reset my modem with no luck. I've also did an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew in CMD but nothing changed. I have not changed any wireless settings for my NIC or modem/router and don't understand what else I can do.

I have an ASA 5505 with Security Bundle license.
I am able to create 2 LAN networks (192.168.9.0 and 172.16.9.0) Vlan1 and Vlan12 respectively. I also setup 2 outside interfaces (outside1 and outside2).
Network 1 (192.168.9.0 - VLAN1) has no issues going out via Outside1, however I can't get Network 2 (172.16.9.0 - VLAN 12) to go thru outside2.
I put in a static route (route outside 172.16.9.0 255.255.255.0 x.x.x.x), the x.x.x.x is the default gateway of my ISP.
I just recently purchased a Cisco ASA 5505 ASA ver 8.2. I run a teamspeak server/ssh/dns and domain on the same server on the network. Before I switched to the asa, I have a regular DGL-4100 that ran with no issues. I have noticed that the connections are very unstable and disconnect frequently and when they do they take 1 to 5 minutes to be able to reconnect. I have done some cisco IOS but am fairly new to this. [code]

Regular email go through fine. If I send a 1mb file it seems to go through after several attempts. If I send a 5mb file it might go through anywhere between 4-15 hours. It doesn't matter where I send from. Sometimes it will say ACK or RST ACK on interface instead of RST. The ASA is running 8.3.1 code. I have tried inspect ESMTP and removed it, tried sysopt connection timewait. I am at a loss.

I've ordered additional ADSL2 lines to handle this traffic and I'm having troubles with the configuration for the additional PPPoE connection. The result being that I can ping the OUTSIDE interface, but get no reply from the VPN interface. I've checked ADSL lines, they are up. The two PPPoE sessions are logged in and active. I can even see the ICMP packets hit the VPN interface, but there is no reply.
I have an ASA5505 which provides internet (just internet) for about more than 600 pc/laptops. Can 5505's DHCP support this number?

The default primary peer (a server) is one that is considered better than other peers for reasons such as lower cost, shorter distance, or more bandwidth. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on the computer I want to make the connection on.I am also using Verizon FioS internet (comes with default router/modem combo) to which I have the DIR-655 router connected. I am able to connect to both WiFi's fine and they work correctly.I think the Verizon router is set to block incoming VPN connections and I think this is why I cannot get anyone to be able to access my computer / internet via VPN. How I can perhaps forward ports and which settings I would need to specifically change in both routers admin settings so that I can get VPN connections to forward to my computer and be accepted.

We have a customer that has a fiber rum between 2 building. They want to have 2 seperate fibers active that terminate into the same switch on each end. (redundancy).
In building A they have an extreme networks black diamond switch that does not support STP.In bulding B they have a Cisco 4507.
We will ahve to use a layer 3 routed connection due to the fact their switch in building A does not support STP.Our tech does not want to use static route becuase he does not want to setup IP SLA for the redundant connection.
Will RIPv2 work for this scenario and failover to the other fiber if needed? The hop count is the same for each fiber path..

We are pulled the plug on our PIX 501 as its not letting us use all 100Mbit that our cable provider is now piping to us. I read the conversion guide but it made no mention of the 501's. Only the 515's or newer.The ASA5505 is putting up a little bit of a fight (This what I get for failing my CCNA??)After refusing to configure the LAN ip address to something other than what it was shipped with, I broke down and connected to the management console and forced an IP address on the LAN side. Now I reset my default config and everyone can get on the internet.Until the ISP cuts you off because you forgot to set your static IP. Oh, and by the way, they dont support Cisco gear.
When I attempt to assign the IP to the outside interface, it accepts without a hitch, but everything grinds to a halt. I cannot have this, as I have off-site users that operate with dedicated ports using Remote Desktop. I've attempted to set the IP via both ASDM and management console. I've tried setting a static route, but that doesnt give me any love either. Im running ASA Version 8.2(1) and ASDM Version 6.2(1)Once I get the static IP set and working properly, I can tackle moving the port configs.

I have also attached a Visio for this and the running configuration from the ASA and 3750. We don't have access to the TNS VPN router. Our responsibility is to just to make sure the tunnel comes up.

am not sure if it is different on the 8.2 or if I am missing something. I can connect to the vpn but cannot get to the inside computers. I can ping them from the ASA but not from the vpn client.

My company purchased a PAK for ASA5505-SEC-PL a while back. I found it unopened and need to know if it can be used, without activating it on an ASA. I opened up a case with the Cisco TAC, provided them the PAK serial number and got the following responses from 2 different individuals:
1.Since the product was covered under warranty and then expired this means that the activation key was used before.
2. This PAK number is expired since (Warranty End Date 21-Feb-2009).
I responded that I am not interested in warranty information but I just want to know if the PAK can be used. Just because the warranty expired, does that REALLY mean the PAK can no longer be used? That doesnt make sense to me. Isn't there a tool on Cisco's website to put in the PAK S/N to see if it is available, has been used, and if so, when?
I have 2 x ASA 5505's , I would like one to sit at my office behind an ADSL router with a static IP address, and be configured as a Server. I would like the other to connect to an ADSL router with a dynamic IP address, and be configured as a Client.
This must be a plug & play setup, so that when the 5505 client is plugged into ANY broadband router, it automatically creates a VPN tunnel to the 5505 server. Incase it's relevant... the purpose of this link will be to stream video data back to my office from remote locations. We have "played" around with the ASDM, EasyVPN and wizzards and still cannot get this to work!
