2. what are the differences between WRT160N and WRT120N routers? (There is no difference when I use the compare feature of the wesite).

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make my computer support incoming VPN connections. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on the computer I want to make the connection on.I am also using Verizon FioS internet (comes with default router/modem combo) to which I have the DIR-655 router connected. I am able to connect to both WiFi's fine and they work correctly.I think the Verizon router is set to block incoming VPN connections and I think this is why I cannot get anyone to be able to access my computer / internet via VPN. How I can perhaps forward ports and which settings I would need to specifically change in both routers admin settings so that I can get VPN connections to forward to my computer and be accepted.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI turned on my PC this morning and I found I could not connect to the Internet. I have a few other computers and devices in the house that are ALL connecting to the Internet fine. I've tried basic things like unplugging /re-plugging the Ethernet cable, resetting router, attempting to set up a new network, system restore, running norton anti-virus to detect any potential problems etc all of which haven't resolved the issue.
I also checked my device manager to see if my drivers were up to date and I found that under 'Other Devices' my Network Controller stated that the drivers were not installed. I'm not sure if this is the issue (considering my Internet was working absolutely fine less than 24hrs beforehand) but I can't search the Internet to automatically find the driver for obvious reasons.
I found a few people suggesting to use the hardware id to find the appropriate driver, any direct link to the driver. My network controller hardware id is below:

I am working with vpn setups for the first time. I would like to be able to connect to a computer on a home network through a linksys E2500 router. I have found alot of documentation on connecting to an external vpn from a computer on the lan side of the router, but nothing on connecting from the outside in. The router does have a static ip address with my internet provider, so I can contact the router from the outside. But makeing the connection to the computer on the other side of the router is where I am missing something or I dont realize that it is not possible. On the LAN side I am using DHCP to assign the address to the computer I want to connect to. Perhaps I need to make it have a static address also? I realize that when I configure the connection from the outside that I need to direct the connection to the remote computer in some way, unless vpn connections are fully passed through the router and the connection issue I am having is with the "inside" computer.

I'm out in the middle of nowhere and just set up a few days ago a WRT54G2 V1 wireless 4-port router a family member had laying around. I had no problem getting it working and running. About an hour ago I noticed I wasn't picking up the wireless with my cell phone and went to check it on my laptop, I had no wireless connections available. It wasn't my adapter or anything since I know there are no other connections out where I am. I went to reset the router and found it had taken issue with that. Once I powered everything back on the router stopped responding and became "stuck" in an annoying state. It doesn't respond to the reset button, unplugging and replugging, nothing. Whether the internet was plugged in or not it will not move past what it's doing now.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn the last three weeks I replaced a Linksys WRT54G wireless router with a new E2500. The only reason this was done because the store salesman indicated I should get much better performance over my router that was probably 5 years only.
Since the install I have had nothing but issues. I could never get on PC runing XP to connect. It worked one day and the next morning I could never get it to connect again. I even removed the encryption and went to WEP with no luck. My laptop that I loaded the software on and initially did the connection I didn't have an initial problem. The problem I now have is the wireless connection is constantly dropping. In the course of an hour the connection probably drops 3 to 4 times. If you leave the PC for several hours, you may need to sign of your user and resign in to get the wireless connection to work. This is an experiment gone bad. My old router never dropped a connection and every PC in the house stayed connected forever. This new router is located the same distance as my original one was, but is nothing but a series of failed connection.
I have a WRT400N and approximately every 30-45 minutes the router will drop all connections (wired and wireless), all the lights will go out and then power light (far right light) will flash for a minute or so. I have tried connecting directly to my modem and I have no problems at all.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a refurbished E1000 wireless router from Amazon, and from the first day I've had recurring connection issues with it. Every half hour or so it will lose all of its connections (wireless and ethernet) and requires a hard reset. After resetting, all connections are good for a little while but then the problem occurs again. When plugged directly into my modem (Motorola SB6121), my internet access is completely fine.
The router has the latest firmware as far as I know (2.1.02 build 5 May 6, 2011), and I've tried to change several settings (MTU to 1400, Fragmentation Threshold to 2306, etc) but to no avail.
I have gone through 2 of these routers now. The first time I was told I had a bad router so it was replaced. The problem is that it randomly disconnects all wireless devices. All I can do is wait for them to reconnect. I am very disappointed that I have not been able to find any solution to this problem. I have seen other posts for similar issuse but no resolution
