Cisco VPN :: Configure ASA 5510 Remote Access For 2nd Public Interface?

Jun 4, 2013

Our ASA 5510 was configured with a public interface, a DMZ interface, and a private interface.  I have a remote access VPN using AnyConnect client and LDAP authentication for Active Directory.  We are changing ISP (groan!), which means all new public IP addresses.  The new circuit is installed, so I have a second public interface (same security level as the first public interface, wholly different IP address range) enabled on the ASA.  I hope to transition whatever I can, which means get the VPN access through either public interface.  Can I just enable client access on the second public interface at the Anyconnect Connection Profiles tab in ASDM?  That seems too simple.  Can they share the one address pool?

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5510 - Configure Remote Access VPNs To Use Specific Interface

Aug 12, 2012

I am adding a second external connection to an existing system on an ASA 5510 with ASA V8.2 and ASDM 6.4. I added the new WAN using an other interface (newwan).

The intention is to route most internet traffic over the new route/interface (newwan) but keep our existing VPNs using the former interface (outside).

I used the ASDM GUI to make the changes and most of it works.ie. The default route goes via (newwan). Outgoing VPNs of a site to site nature use the previous route via (outside) as they now have static routes to achieve this.

The only problem is that incomming Remote Access Anyconnect VPNs are not working. I set the default static route to use the new interface (newwan) and the default tunneled route to be via (outside) but this is the point is goes wrong....

I can no longer ping the outside IP address from an external location. It seems the outside interface does not send traffic back to the - outside interface (or at least that's where I think the problem lies). How do I force replies to the incomming VPN remote traffic from unknown IPs to go back out on the outside interface?

The only change I need to make to get everything working on the outside interface again is to make the Default Static route use the outside interface. Which puts all the internet traffic back on the original (outside) connection.

Cisco Firewall :: Remote VPN On ASA 5510 Failing To Hit Public Servers?

Mar 12, 2012

I have a Cisco ASA 5510 that was set up as a VPN server for working remote.  I have disabled split tunneling so that all traffic created while VPN'd in goes through the ASA.  The problem I'm having I believe would be resolved if I enabled split tunneling but I would prefer another solution.  Now..for the problem. When a user is connected via VPN, they can hit all intended devices both public and private accept servers that have static NATs in the FW.  So Server A has a public of 1.1.1.1 which is one to one mapped to private address of 10.1.1.1.  Now if the remote user brings up a browser and goes to 1.1.1.1 it wont work.  The FW gives me a error which is posted below.  However, using the private IP of the server works.  I thought about trying to manipulate DNS to resolve this as the remote users are using URLs and not IPs when trying to reach these servers but again, was hoping I could resolve the NAT problem that the FW seems to be having.

Asymmetric NAT rules matched for forward and reverse flows; Connection for tcp src Outside:192.168.202.100/49238 dst INSIDE:1.1.1.1/80 denied due to NAT reverse path failure 192.168.202.x/24 is the remote vpn ip given via the ASA.

Here are some configurations on the ASA:

static (INSIDE,Outside) 1.1.1.1 10.1.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.255
 access-list INSIDE_nat0_outbound extended permit ip object-group DM_INLINE_NETWORK_2 192.168.202.0 255.255.255.0
object-group network DM_INLINE_NETWORK_2

[code].....

Outside with 4.4.4.4 as the public ip traffic gets NAT'd do dynamically Inside with 10.1.1.x network on it.The ASA is running 8.2

ASA5510-1 currently has a live site to site to ASA5510-2.

ASA 5510-1 - 10.192.0.253

ASA 5510-2 - 172.16.102.1

DC - 172.16.102.10

ASA5510-01 can ping the DC and vica versa but is unable to authticate when i perform a test. ASA5510-01 can authenticate to a DC on it;s own LAN but not on the remote LAN that DC sits on.

I have double checked the 'Server Secret Key' and ports as well as various users which all work locallly. ASA5510-02 authenticates to DC with no problems.

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 - ASA 8.4 - How To Setup Additional Public IP's On Outside Interface

May 10, 2012

getting my additional IP addresses working on my ASA 5510.  I have a /29 allocation and outbound access and inbound access to my internal www server is working fine through the default outside interface.   However, I now need to setup a second IP address that maps internally to a different web server.  When I setup a new network object with automatic NAT translation to the new IP address, it does not work.  If I setup the same scenario using the outside interface, it works fine.  What is the proper way to setup additional IP address on my ASA v8.4?

Public / Private IP And Port Number For Remote Access?

Dec 23, 2012

I would like to understand how public IP works in remote access. I do have belkin router and when I access it remote I type my public IP and after it the port number for example xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:80 and if I would like to access an IP cam remotely in the same network i would do the same thing xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5656 (public IP). I do know my Public IP is unique. Thus, its quite logical I can access my devices remotely. my understanding of the port number is application specific that addresses packets in different applications in the same computer. For example port 80 is for HTTP connection used browsing the web, for chatting in MSN i will use different port number specifically for MSN...etc. my question is how I can access my belkin router remotely by typing the public IP and the port number knowing that the port number is application specific not device specific? My second question is, is it possible to access two routers in the same network remotely?

Cisco VPN :: Remote Access ASA 5505 To ASA 5510 VPN?

Mar 1, 2012

I have not really set up ASAs nor VPNs on Cisco devices before. I'm currently attempting to configure a remote access VPN between ASA devices, a 5505 and a 5510. The 5510 is meant to be the server and the 5505 is meant to be the easyvpn client. The reason I am opting for remote access as opposed to site to site is that I have many 5505s at remote sites that I will need to configure in the future, and they will be moving around a bit (I would prefer not to have to keep up with the site-to-site configs). The 5510 will not be moving. Both ASA devices are able to ping out to 8.8.8.8 as well as ping each other's public facing IP.

Neither ASA can ping the other ASA's private IP (this part makes sense), and I am unable to SSH from a client on the 5510 side to the 5505's internal (192) interface. I have pasted sterilized configs from both ASAs below.

ASA 5510 (Server)
ASA Version 8.0(4)
!
hostname ASA5510
domain-name <domain>
enable password <password> encrypted
passwd <password> encrypted

Typcally, he sees slow performance and also network drives being intermittently available on his Windows 7 computer. he also has an internal wireless router at his home when he connects remotely. Performance when connected through a standard cable broadband connection is fine.

Cisco VPN :: 5510 Specify Remote Access Interesting Traffic?

Feb 9, 2013

I am having trouble making my remote access vpn decrypt traffic. I am using an ASA5510 and the cisco 5.0 vpn client. I have no problem getting the tunnel to come up. But the "decrypted traffic" stays zero and the "discarded traffic" increments continuously. Here is the ASA5510 crypto config:OK I guess this site doesn't allow pasting text so I attached the config.I am pretty sure that I can't pass traffic because I have not been able to figure out how to specify the interesting traffic for the vpn connection. What is the syntax for this? It looks like it should be some kind of tunnel- group commands.

Am I the only one who thinks that the Cisco documentation is worthless on this subject? The ASA config guide gives you everything you need to set up a tunnel, but has absolutely nothing on the config required to actually pass traffic.
