Cisco VPN :: RV120 W And Omitting Need For VPN Client?
May 23, 2011
I usually connect to another network with a VPN client, e.g. the Cisco VPN client. Is it possible to have the router to establish a tunnel to the destination thus omitting the need for a software client on the computer?

Port forwarding on rv120 does not work. I have followed the workaround instructions: so i have created a firewall access rule on incoming port 21 to an internal ip address on the same port. The router has created the forwarding port rule. But port forwarding does not work. I have tried to use a custom service but nothing!
The router is reachable from wan, I can access via DNS the configuration page and I can ping the router on wan port.

I want to build a "hub and spoke" topology for one of my clients. For the "HUB" , I'm planning to use an SA540, with a static public IP provided by a 4Mb SDSL. For the "spokes" (21 at the moment), I'm planning to use RV120. They will be behind a NAT, provided by a "SAGEM LIVEBOX", and a static public IP. The boss will connect to the HUB using Cisco VPN client, or quickVPN, and get access to all the spokes. Some spokes will have to connect to each other, via the HUB. I searched a long time on this forum and reading documentation, but I didn't find at the moment the answer to my question : is this topology suitable with the choosen hardwares ?

I am working overseas for a small company, trying to get an RV120 VPN router to connect to our network back home. Part of the problem is that I have to use a DSL modem here which is also a router, and so the WAN IP given to the modem is not the same one used by the VPN router.
Do we need to create a bridge between the two routers so that the VPN router can use the WAN IP from the ISP instead of a DHCP address on the local network? Or is this the wrong approach?

I'm having a problem forwarding port 1723. What i'm trying to do is to use VPN to access my server pc and I don't want to use the VPN software that is in the router. When I telnet the port it goes through but when i try to access it outside of the office I can't get through. I've been using [URL] to check port 1723 and I get this:
Error: I could not see your service on XX.XX.XX.XX on port (1723)
Reason: Connection refused

i have a question about tunneling a software EasyVPN client to a client ASA Network. It looks like this:
EasyVPN Server 192.168.202.0/24 Network extension mode to Client EasyVPN ASA 192.168.1.0/24 This works fine in both directions. But now i want to connect the client ASA network via EasyVPN software client from outside. The user are already able to connect to the ASA Server on its static outside IP obtaining an IP from a 192.168.21.0/24 pool. This works fine. But how am i able to connect to the 192.168.1.0/24 network from this client?

Do the problem caused by the modems itself or it just sign of faulty Ethernet switch (using 20 port Allied Telesis ethernet switch).
Sometimes I cannot connect to internet due to "unidentified network" buy i can resolve this problem by restarting my modem + switch.

I have a setup involving 3 clustered AP541 running off a sg300 switch. The wireless network setup VAP has one entry for vlan 1 with station isolation disabled. Is there anything more I need to do to allow one wireless client to ping another wireless client - am I missing something - i assume this is possible.Needless to say wireless clients can ping non wireless clients and vice versa quite happily. Everything is running with factory default settings more or less.

Since last week we are having problems with remote users working with VPN client on Windows XP.The connection is stablished but no data traffic occurs.
As we didn't do any change in vpn remote settings I did a test from Linux machine running VPNC client and it works well.It sounds so weird because it happens only on Windows client platform. We have CISCO ASA 5510 and PIX 515 running 8.0(4).

I have a requirement as per our security standard all VPN user ID must change the password during intial logon
I am using cisco VPN client 4.6 .0 anf 5.0.0 suspending my IPSEC VPN on head end ASA 5520 device , authenticating VPN user using ACS 5.3.0 . All the VPN user are created internally on ACS 5.3.0 , i have turned on password management on ASA configuration towards tunnel group and i have enabled MS-CHAPv2 on ACS for password change during intial logon .
I have created internal user with password change during inital logon and tired connecting to my VPN .Intially it prompt for password change , after changing the password to new password .
When i am trying to connect , i am seeing strange behaviour VPN client is not able to connect to the peer , VPN client is not responding for few minutes , What should the problem , is there problem VPN client or ACS configuration .
when i remove this password management from tunnel group , VPN users are able to connect with any issue , but the concern is none them able to change the password , we not have ADS on our network all User ID are created internal on ACS server .

We have a few users connecting to another companies Firewall using the Cisco VPN Client, we are pretty sure our PIX (sat at the edge of our network) is causing issues whereby after an unknown amount of time the VPN client will timeout and lose connectivity.I did outputted some level 7 debug to syslog and I cannot see anything that happens during the time he has lost connectivityI can see his RDP packets getting denied to the remote ends private IP address but nothing that shows a denial or a drop of anything from our pix.We are sure its this pix as we used to connect via a different route and a different pix and it never dropped

I can connect to it fine and access everything behind the VPN. I have a Windows 7 machine 32 bits. He can connect to the VPN just fine but not access anything behind it, he is running Windows 7 64-bits. This is not a new setup, the VPN has been working before. If I debug ISAKMP and IPSEC in the ASA I see nothing out of the ordinary. The only thing I see is that the VPN client on his machine is showing that the counter for discarded packets is increasing. This is Ciscos explanation to discarded packets. "Packets discarded—The total number of data packets that the VPN Client rejected because they did not come from the secure VPN device gateway." So it seems that the client does not believe that the packets are from the ASA. I have no idea why that would be and what could have changed that made a functioning VPN turn into a non functioning one. He can not remember doing any major installs or something like that which could mess with the client. We uninstalled the version he was using and installed a slightly newer version but it made no difference.

The embedded telnet client is OK but what about a ssh client? It could be a very useful feature for debugging remote servers or network appliances in a secure fashion.
I understand the overhead concerning the image size and CPU usage, but it seems that both the flash memory and the CPU could handle ssh client integration. Naturally, it as to be fully compatible with IPv6 in dual stack enabled environment.

I have a fresh install of LMS 4.0 on Windows Server 2008 Standart SP2. I have one NIC with static IP configuration. I also disabled DHCP client. The problem is follows: when I go to Inventory - Device Administration - Add/Import/Manage Devices, I always get this error:Error in communicating with DCR Server. DCR Server may be down. Please start the DCR Server and then refresh the page.Reload server/ Daemon Manager dont solve this.I try to beat this problem 2 days already. Second uninstall also doesnt solve the problem..
About a week ago I tried to clear log files which was 270gb (syslog.log) and after that restarted the server. And all inventory devices suddenly disappear! I could find it from search menu but cant access - cisco works said that there is no such a device in Device Repository or I havent enough right to view it (but i logged as admin). And after this i failed to add any device in Inventory. So I reinstall Cisco Works and get that DCR error..

I have been trying to conect a Cisco VPN client through an ASA and it makes the connection but doesn't allow any traffic through. The ASA does have a site to site VPN attached to the outside interface.I suppose the first question is it possible to allow VPN client to connect through an ASA 5500 from the inside network when there are Site to Site VPN's already attached to the outside interfaces? If possible then what have I missed. I have tried adding NAT exempt for the traffic between the internal networks and "an IPSEC pass thru Inspect Map".

Completly new to Cisco ASA and need to get this working ASAP.ASA 5505 8.4(1) is the secondary FW and I need for it to allow everything going out and block everything coming in but for the VPN clients. Since a Cisco moron, I used the ASDM and it's wizards to make this work, which might explain my situation.
[code]....
My Cisco VPN Client connects to the ASA and receives 10.10.101.1 IP address, but I get no connectivity to the ASA or any other 192.168.101.x server or service (tried telnet, RDP, ping, etc.)

I ran DHCP debug and I can see the router assigning the IP, and I see and ARP entry that matches the MAC of the client.

I enabled SBL on ASA 8.4, anyconnect client is Win-XP, everything worked as expected, but some users do not want to see SBL logon screen before windows logon because often times they will need to login before they can get network connection. So I modified profile.xml's following line from
UseStartBeforeLogon UserControllable="false">true</UseStartBeforeLogon
to
UseStartBeforeLogon UserControllable="true">true</UseStartBeforeLogon
the new profile is downloaded to client machine's anyconnect vpn profile fine, yet still users see VPN logon screen before Windows log on, "Connect on startup" is un-checked on Anyconnect VPN client, client machines rebooted multiple times, Anyconnect VPN client was removed and re-downloaded from scratch, no change ... What else do I have to do? I certainly can create a new group-policy/tunnel-group for those users without SBL, but that is far from an elegant solution.

I have a VPN client running on a laptop connected a DSL circuit. The VPN client is configured correctly for an external address on another firewall, this external firewall passes through ISAKMP / IPSEC to an ASA where it terminates. The client authenticates and gets an address from the client pool (VPNCLIENTS – 10.2.16.x / 24) and the tunnel completes with no problems. From the internal ASA I can ping any internal network behind the 10.0.3.240 interface (INSIDE) and I have a route on the inside network to get to the 10.2.16/0 clients to point to this address (10.0.3.240). All good so far.
Now the problems begin. I cant ping anything from the VPN clients (10.2.16.0) network to anywhere, I cant ping any interface on the ASA or any internal network. I also cant ping the client from the ASA and therefore not from the internal network either. This configuration is bare bones configuration so I don’t even have the NAT exception rules added. Network diagram attached too.
