I am having the most difficult time trying to setup the Cisco 1841 with a new Fiber Optic ISP. I have no experience with Cisco equipment but have taught myself some basics. All my attempts have ended with failure. I definitely will be taking some cisco courses soon.
Our current setup
20mbs Fiber Optic ISP
- They are providing us a x.x.129.233/30 WAN IP and a x.x.131.225/27 Public IP Block Cisco 1841 Router (Which has no configuration at all, it was wiped by the ISP) 1x HP Procruve 2610 24 port Gigabit Switch
What we need is simple, we just need to distribute the Public IP block through to the LAN on the switch side. I would post a config if I had one already made, but the 1841 is a clean slate. I just wiped it again to start fresh.
I am getting the new Cisco 2921/K9 router, which comes by default with 3 Integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports. I have Comcast Cable as the ISP, so can I connect the ISP RJ45 Copper cable directly to one of the integrated ports or do I have to buy another WAN Interface Cards for the ISP.
We have upgraded our gateway router from a Cisco Linksys RVL200 to a Cisco 861, this is a big jump from a GUI driven system to IOS CLi and i'm having issue finding my feet. I tried the Cisco CP system but it didn't work so I'm going to configure it with IOS commands. I wish to replicate the current configuration on the 200 with the following setup.
I have created a DHCP pool but i am unable to configure the FastEthernet ports to hand out address automatically, the pool is called USERS with range 192.168.1.30 -> 192.168.1.253.How do I work out the client-identifier for a DHCP client, I don't want to plug this into the network and manual reconnect all the PC's just to get the ID then make a static route.
I have a Cisco 1841 that has an ADSL (ATM) card installed. It was previously used with an ADSL line to provide NAT routing for an office. Now I want to use it witha cable modem, which would mean abandoning the ADSL interface and instead routing between the two Ethernet ports.Between the Cisco and the LAN is a Linux transparent proxy. It provides routing between 192.168.1.0 (LAN) and 192.168.2.111 (Cisco LAN interface). The network looks like this:
Cable Modem(174.76.21.1)(gateway) --- (174.76.21.10)(WAN) Cisco 1841 (LAN)(192.168.2.111) --- (192.168.2.11) Linux Proxy (192.168.1.10) --- (192.168.1.0) LAN
For testing and diagnostics, I've connected a laptop to each FastEthernet port on the router. One laptop is configured with the IP 174.76.21.1 to simulate the cable modem gateway and the other laptop has the IP 192.168.2.11 to simulate the Linux proxy. From those systems I've performed the following diagnostics with the following results:
From 192.168.2.11 Ping 192.168.2.111 - OK Ping 174.76.21.15 - OK Ping 174.76.21.1 - Timed out From 174.76.21.1 Ping 174.76.21.15 - OK NAT translation to LAN IP's failing
There are some vestiges of the ADSL configuration, but I've cleaned most of it out and shut down the ATM interfaces. Here's my config:
! version 12.4 service timestamps debug datetime msec service timestamps log datetime msec no service password-encryption
Users behind a Cisco 1841 are not able to connect to a network using the Cisco Systems VPN Client. Transport is IP sec over UDP (NAT/PAT). Connection just times out.
Which ports should be allowed in the access list? Or do you have an link to a article for this?
I have a client with a cisco 1841 router with a static public ip. He has 3 dvr's he wanted to acces from the internet and we opened the ports for the dvr's ip's. The issue were having is that only the first ip that we opened shows the port opened and works ok, the other 2 ip with their ports show closed.
due to upcoming changes to our network I'd like to be able to pass vlans across the FE ports of a Cisco 1841 router.1 port would go to a managed switch and then to local devices on different VLANs.the 2nd port would go upstream to a Cisco 3825 at a different location which would then connect to the internet.due to monitoring behind the Cisco3825 we would like all NAT to occur on the 3825.
what I would like to happen is this example device connected to port 7 on managed switch gets an IP (10.0.7.10) from the Cisco 1841 in VLAN 7 (10.0.7.0/24).traffic from that device goes to the switch, then in f0/1 on the 1841 and out f0/0 still with the same IP info, no NAT occuring.traffic is received on the 3825 port 0/1 and then NAT occurs and out port 0/0 to the internet.
We're seeing a strange issue with a Cisco 819 that we're testing out. We are able to ping out over the Cellular interface just fine, but as soon as we plug a device into one of the FastEthernet ports we immediately drop the cell connection. The Cell interface then continues to bounce until we unplug the device. We are intending to setup a VPN tunnel, but we've even stripped all that out for the sake of troubleshooting.
I have a SR520 router with the ADSL WAN built in. I am looking to ignore the ADSL port and utilise the 4 FA ports to route between two networks. Can I configure the ports on the switch part of the router to become Layer 3 and take there own Ip addresses? If so I can save myself the purchase of a new router.I have used loopbacks before but not sure that will work.
We have 2.5 Mbps connection from an ISP at our branch routers (1800 series)with single physical link terminated on FE0 but have two subinterfaces with separate subnets.
I have applied the following policy-map outbount under physical Interface FastEthernet 0. Show poliocymap output is as follows
Policy Map QoS-OUT Class Email priority 512 (kbps) Class SQL priority 512 (kbps) Class File-Copy police cir 1024000 bc 32000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop Class CCTV police cir 384000 bc 12000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
But it seems that sometimes( not all the time ) the CCTV traffic seems to exceed the 384k and chokes the entire link(2.5 mbps).
I understand that the NM-1FE Fastethernet modules are not compatible with Cisco 2600 series routers, just the Ethernet 1-E module. With that being said, are there ANY modules supported by the 2600, 2621 or 2621XM series routers that have fastethernet port(s) outside of the pricey NM-16ESW module? I don't need a 16 port module!
I am trying to install a AIR-BR1310G wireless link between two buildings. I configured the setup in a lab and had everything functioning. Shipped it to the client who is now trying to install it. The radio link is up, but we are having issues with the remote Ethernet connection. The root bridge is connected to a WS-C3560G-24TS (core) switch. The port is setup as a trunk with a native vlan of 2 (our management vlan). [code] if I do a "show power-injector" on the remote radio (no Ethernet link), I get: "Received zero AutoMIB packet from Power Injector, Check to see if CDP is disabled on Fast ethernet" repeating. No other entries. If I do the same command on a unit with a link (root bridge) I get information about "Power Injector Port 0 speed 100Mb/s duplex full link up enabled yes" with a bunch of stats. Similar for "Power Injector Port 1". Power Injector Ports 2-4 as "down" and 5-6 as "disabled". Other than the 3 different patch cables they tried (all straight through) or a crossed cable (try tomorrow when they buy one), is there any other reason the port won't go Up/Up?
I have a task of setting up bandwidth limit on the 2811 router Fastethernet interfaces. The scenario is:We have a 4MB Internet connection and would like to allocate bandwidth usage to users.
Fastethernet 0/0 needs to be set with 256KB output and 2048 input. This is going to be connected to a wireless router. Fastethernet 0/1 needs to be configured with 2048 output.I could also use SDM if that's easier than using CLI.
We have an ASA 5505. 5505 comes with two default vlans 1&2 with each of them marked as inside & outside respectively. My query is , if i do not want to use vlans on 5505 and only want to use the Ethernet ports as pure physical layer 3 ports, is it possible?i.e. i want to assign a layer 3 ip address on eth0/0 and eth0/1 and make them as the inside & outside interfaces rather than vlans. is it possible to do away with vlans in 5505 & will it work otherwise?
Is there a way to associate spare firewall ports with another port that is being used..For example...int gi 0/2 is being used currently for my web dmz. Its ip is 192.168.10.1..Is there a way for me to associate gi 0/3 with the same layer 2 as gi 0/2 ?
In my webdmz I use 2 ACE 4710 proxys in FT mode. I used a layer 2 switch to connect firewall and proxys together.
I would like to eliminate this switch if possible..and connect both 4710's (layer 2) direct to firewall. If I could make gi0/2 - 4 part of the same vlan, then I would be good to go.
How many of the 881 switch interface ports can be used as router ports, have used the 877 etc where i can use 2 but need a low cost router that supports 3 for routing. (needs to be physical ports)
One of techs accidentally connected two access ports from different switches together. Since then, LMS is alerting them as being Link ports down. I tried to default the config and set them to access ports without any success. what I should do in LMS to recognize them as access ports?
I am putting an pre-labbed DMVPN Hub config onto a production 1841. We had to upgrade the IOS to support protection with NAT so the current IOS we're running is c1841-adventerprisek9-mz.124-25g.bin.I can paste the configuration in fine (via the tunnel interfaces) and the router accepts it however the 'show dmvpn', 'debug dmvpn' and other related commands don't work. I have checked the IOS feature navigator and it definitely shows that DMVPN phase 1 and 2 are supported in this image.
I have a 1841 router and I can ping the f/0 port from my pc. However when i try to console to it, it is not showing up anything but a blinking cursor. I tried all different baud rates on my teraterm but still not luck. I picked the baud rate disconnected and reconnected everytime and still nothing. Then I tried to telnet to it using teraterm but it would just open a console window and then close.
a have a router CISCO 1841 and I configured a NAT inside from the router to the firewall like this :ip nat inside source static firewall_adresse public_adresse and its work fine and when a added it I do this command "wr" to save the configuration and I restarted the router many times and it still work fine, but in the last five months this NAT does not exsit twice and I must add it a gain.
We have an MPLS that connects our main office with our 7 branch offices. We have 3Mb coming into the main office and 1.5 into all of the branch offices. I would like to give rdp traffic the highest priority. We have a Cisco 1841 at all branches and a Cisco 2811 at the main office. Do I have to configure QOS on all routers or just the one at the main location?
We have a 1841 setup with WAN and LAN subinterfaced(2 WAN connections, 1 internal VLANs) and I am recieving some pretty horrible throughput when traversing the router to the WAN.
I am receiving about 2 MBPS down but around 5 up.Currently there is a ACL on the WAN interface, and as well we are running NAT NVI. It is possible that this might have something to do with it, but I am not sure.
Most of the CPU is going to IP input however I cannot seem to determine the cause. One thing I am thinking is the overload for NVI is using a route-map. Could that cause it to process switch instead of fast/CEF switch?
i have 6 sites using tandberg visioconference system, each site have a cisco router 1841 configured with ipsec vpn, i have a 4 conference a week and my bandwidth is 2 meg, and when people are working we have a lot of problems and cut in our visio conference.
I have a big problem, i want to make a high level QOS priority to my TANDBERG visio conference system between my sites, the issues is that there is an IPSEC VPN in my cisco routers between those sites and as i know if the traffic is crypted we can not separate the packets or give higher priority to packets over anothers.
can i mark traffic in the lan interface and and make a high priority befors the packets go through the ipsec tunnel?
We have cisco 1841 router with two ISP . But we facing the problem whenever our secondary ISP Link goes down the Primary has also went down.We have only one default route for primary Link
