I am getting the new Cisco 2921/K9 router, which comes by default with 3 Integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports. I have Comcast Cable as the ISP, so can I connect the ISP RJ45 Copper cable directly to one of the integrated ports or do I have to buy another WAN Interface Cards for the ISP.

- They are providing us a x.x.129.233/30 WAN IP and a x.x.131.225/27 Public IP Block Cisco 1841 Router (Which has no configuration at all, it was wiped by the ISP) 1x HP Procruve 2610 24 port Gigabit Switch
What we need is simple, we just need to distribute the Public IP block through to the LAN on the switch side. I would post a config if I had one already made, but the 1841 is a clean slate. I just wiped it again to start fresh.
We have upgraded our gateway router from a Cisco Linksys RVL200 to a Cisco 861, this is a big jump from a GUI driven system to IOS CLi and i'm having issue finding my feet. I tried the Cisco CP system but it didn't work so I'm going to configure it with IOS commands. I wish to replicate the current configuration on the 200 with the following setup.
I have created a DHCP pool but i am unable to configure the FastEthernet ports to hand out address automatically, the pool is called USERS with range 192.168.1.30 -> 192.168.1.253.How do I work out the client-identifier for a DHCP client, I don't want to plug this into the network and manual reconnect all the PC's just to get the ID then make a static route.
I was wondering if I could use the CISCO3945 Integrated Gigabit Ethernet WAN ports for routing, I need to enable BGP and I was willing to use one of those ports.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi would like to "team" two ethernet ports on a 2921 router into a single redundant link to a switch, similar to how an HP server teams multiple NICs to a single IP address. is port-channeling the best/only way to do this? i don't necessarily need the two links to be load balanced or bonded, considering the serial side of this router is just a single T1. i just want the links redundant, so in case something goes wrong with one cable or switchport, traffic will go over the other link.

The switches have very basic default configurations and there is no way to edit them, so I only have one VLAN and one default gateway. I can't assign the same IP address to each LAN port. I'm not sure how to make this setup work.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 2921 configured with both DMVPN for remote sites and point-to-point isakmp ipsec VPN for smaller residential end-points.
The issue is, any ports that are NAT'd from the external appear filtered on the point-to-point vpn endpoints, but work fine over the dmvpn. Everything else seems to work correctly over the vpn. I have the nonat acl set up and the port forwards work fine from the external, but I'm not sure what's happening.
I have the configuration on the 2921 for reference.
The web authentication page comes up but as soon as the user hits Submit, the following error appears:

We are able to ping out over the Cellular interface just fine, but as soon as we plug a device into one of the FastEthernet ports we immediately drop the cell connection. The Cell interface then continues to bounce until we unplug the device. We are intending to setup a VPN tunnel, but we've even stripped all that out for the sake of troubleshooting.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install a AIR-BR1310G wireless link between two buildings. I configured the setup in a lab and had everything functioning. Shipped it to the client who is now trying to install it. The radio link is up, but we are having issues with the remote Ethernet connection.The root bridge is connected to a WS-C3560G-24TS (core) switch. The port is setup as a trunk with a native vlan of 2 (our management vlan). [code] if I do a "show power-injector" on the remote radio (no Ethernet link), I get: "Received zero AutoMIB packet from Power Injector, Check to see if CDP is disabled on Fast ethernet" repeating. No other entries. If I do the same command on a unit with a link (root bridge) I get information about "Power Injector Port 0 speed 100Mb/s duplex full link up enabled yes" with a bunch of stats. Similar for "Power Injector Port 1". Power Injector Ports 2-4 as "down" and 5-6 as "disabled". Other than the 3 different patch cables they tried (all straight through) or a crossed cable (try tomorrow when they buy one), is there any other reason the port won't go Up/Up?

I agree with the use of this router, so that's OK. The issue is that they have requested that I use the integrated PoE available on this model. I'm also OK with this as it will make a much neater installation. However, I can't seem to find much information on how to get the integrated PoE. I need clarification as to whether I can get a kit to upgrade this router. I generally purchase from sites like newegg or cdw (I'm an independent contractor) and I can't seem to find one with it. I have found some information on 800-IL-PM-4 and 800-ILPM-4 (who could confuse those ). Are they the same or different? Which one is the correct one and does it include the AC power adapter and can if be retro'ed into a router without the PoE?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat I am trying to do is port forward certain ports so the servers I'm trying to run will allow other people to connect.So far I got no where since I got a new ISP. They can't provide any assistance since I use a netgear router. One of their tech support said their modem has a built in router. The rest all said no. I noticed that the IP in CMD when I type ipconfig /all is 192.168.1.(15-47) it switches every now and then. But that is a local IP. Wouldn't that single that the modem is already routing the IP? When I put my router on it switches to 10.0.0.(2-55). These are all local IP's though. Does the modem have an integrated routing feature? Verizon really sucks so far. They can't answer their own questions without conflicting with each other.
The modem is getting the IP, and putting it into a local IP (What I believe is a routing feature) for the network. Now the local IP goes to the netgear wireless router, and gets routed again (Changed the local IP to 10.0.0.?). The netgear only got a Local IP the first time however, so the external IP is not being... worked with in the netgear router. It is trying to port forward for the local IP address, which already works for me obviously, however it is not a WAN IP address and therefore no one else is able to connect to any of my servers.And lastly, verizon states they have only "Modems" and "Wireless routers" so if they have no modems that doesn't come with this feature, then I need to learn how to port forward while the IP is being routed twice, similarly to when you have two routers hooked into each other.
Bought a Vostro 220S about 2 months ago. After about three weeks, while I'm using it, the integrated NIC dies. All of a sudden I get the "Network Cable Disconnected" pop-up. No LEDs lit by the network jack. Contact Dell support who decides it's the motherboard.Three days later, the exact same failure. Contact support again. This time they want me to re-install Windows (yeah...right). I refused since the motherboard fixed it the first time. They finally agree to replace the motherboard again. Using the same router and cable that worked for years with my old computer. After the first failure, I switched ports on the router. While waiting for the motherboard replacements, I had installed an old PCI NIC I had laying around. Worked fine...still is. I'm not about to re-install Windows, which is what I know they'll want. I'll stick with the PCI card. Both of the people at Dell support as well as the tech they sent out told me they've not seen this before.
