I am doing a comparative between cisco and sonicwall routers. Which router would better fit me? i need it to support at least a 20MB internet connection in a datacenter and has to have a firewall included. I was thinking about a router 1941. What do you think ?

Client has two 2900 routers, each connecting to a seperate ISP
Client has a Sonic Firewall with a link to each router
Client owns their own /24 block of public IPs and has their own AS Number.
Client has a public /24 and /25 from the corresponding ISPs
Client has supplied the following routing rules they would like to use:
-Anything from their own public subnet should advertize via the two ISP's with best path selection
-Anything from the respective ISP public subnets should use only their link (The ISP's are not auth'd to advertize the other's network)
The two routers are directly connected to eachother and each has a link going to the Sonicwall.
Hardware Configuration:
Office 1: Sonicwall TZ200 (192.168.11.xx)
Office 2: Sonicwall TZ100 (192.168.12.xx)
Home Office: Linksys RV042 v1 (192.168.13.xx)
The VPN tunnel between Office 1 and Office 2 is functioning.The VPN tunnel Office 1 and HomeOffice has been established, BUT I cannot ping any subnets across the tunnel. I have tried different settings, and will post the current configuration later.
Last month I decided to upgrade my network and switch everything from 10/100 to 10/100/1000 (gigabit).My setup I'm struggling with right now :
Desktop Running Win 7 x64 with a 1 gigabit NIC (running latest drivers from Intel)
Linksys E3200 Router w/ Cisco 10/100/1000 x 4 ports (Latest firmware)
USB 2.0 NAS with a WD 160SB HD 7200rpm (100MB/s)
On file transfers from the NAS connected to the Router, connected to the desktop with a CAT 5e 5ft cable, I'm pulling 9.5 MB/s MAX
Everyone I talk to say, "wow, that's what 10/100 runs" and that I'm not running one gigabit. They say I should be seeing at least 20MB/s. What am I doing wrong here? I've trying play with buffer size, settings on the NIC, MTU on the router. I'm lost at what to do.
we got a Sonicwall router and we have been having stability issues. Every 1 minute the TCP connectio is dropped as well as UDP packets. This router is connected to a T1 connection and its requesting a DHCP lease every couple minutes as well. We originally had two WAN connections, and we have disabled the second one because someone thought it was that, but obviously it has to do with the internal network. This is a dual WAN router.

The problem is this: I can access the sonicwall remotely, and I can ssh into the sonicwall and ping various websites, and get replies, but my connected PCs (Connected by the LAN port) have no internet access. I have never set up a sonicwall before this one, and I feel like there is something I may be missing. Do Sonicwall devices block WAN access by default? Do I need to configure the default route?

(RV042 DHCP Server is disabled.)I have set up port (80) forwarding to 192.168.1.101 The HTTP port forwarding does work if an http client on the LAN sends a request to http://<public-ip>:80But I cannot get a response if I send a request to http://<public-ip>:80 from a machine on the WAN.
I did configure Access Rules to allow http traffic (and then tried to allow *all* traffic) between a single IP on the WAN and 192.168.1.101 The incoming log table shows a connection is made from the http client on the internet to the correct http server on the LAN, but there is no resonse from the LAN to the remote client.Is my configuration the problem, or is this feature not supported by the RV042 router? Could my cable modem be blocking outbound traffic?
Dell Support Center (Inspiron 6000, XP SP3 Home) insists that there is no internet connection. In fact I have a perfectly good wifi service both to the local network and the internet. I have seen lots of other reports of the same problem on the web but can't find anything in the forums. I have given access to DSC in Windows Firewall

when i configured access-list 2 permit any . Internet working on local systems but we are not able to connect telnet.
I am having an issue accessing the internet from a PC on the LAN. I have configured the PC with the gateway of the router infront of the ISP to test. I can ping from the router to google or any other internet IP. From the PC I can ping to the GIG0/1 (Inside LAN IP) and the GIG0/0 (Outside WAN IP going to ISP) but I can't ping the Next Hop IP of the ISP or anything past that. If I do a trace route from the PC to the google IP address it hits the GIG0/1 Inside LAN IP Address but fails from there. Here is a cut down snap shot of the router configure

I have a Cisco 1941 router configured using Cisco Configuration Professional... SSH management works from the LAN IP 10.0.1.254 and 10.0.2.254 Also, SSH management works from the LAN using the external domain name which resolves to the public IP address.
The problem i have is if I try SSH from the internet to the public IP.. nothing happens.

I am working for a company based in Sydney Australia, the company recently open an office in London UK, therefore we are going to get leased lined based on MPLS.We were advised that Customer Edge router will be CISCO1941/K9. We want to our UK client to access our web-based applications via MPLS network instead of internet. The UK office is using BT Business ADSL with 5 Static IP address (please note the modem IP address is actually dynamic), we are going to get a Cisco 857/K9 router which will be used for the entry for the UK client to access the MPLS network. My question will be how do I configure the Cisco 857 router to allow one of the public ip to access the MPLS network. It appears that there are two options, and I am not sure if this is going to work or which one is working better. I have attached two diagrams for clarification of my case.
Option 1 Cisco WAN interface get Dynamic IP (PPPoA) from BT LAN Interface (4 Port) get the assigned 5 Static IP addresses One of the five IPs (217.xx.xx.169) will be assigned to the FE1 (Cisco 1941), any traffic to 217.xx.xx.169 will be routed to the WAN interface of Cisco 1941 to access Sydney service (located in Sydney LAN, mostly http and https traffic) One of the five IPs to 217.xx.xx.170 will be assigned to the WAN interface of Sonicwall Firewall Router which also serve as Internet Access Gateway for LAN users, All trafiic destined for Sydney LAN will be using FE0 (Cisco 1941) as gateway

I'm using a Cisco 1941 router with two WAN interfaces. One is directry connected to our ISP and one is connected to another router wich is then connected to another ISP. Hosts on the LAN cannot access the Internet at all but the router has Internet access, im guessing its something simple but i cant seem to spot the error, i have removed the ZBF configuration from the interfaces. I have configured the new cisco1941 to the best of my knowledge but something strange is happening on my network. I can open www.gmail.com from any machine but i cant open anything else even www.google.com . What could be causign that ?

I am having trouble with connecting to the Internet through the router. It has worked for 4 years now and all of a sudden it is not working at all. Any direction to getting reconnected. I have an Internet connection directly to the modem, and I can connect and log into the router admin panel, but it will not allow me to access the Internet through the router either wirelessly or by connecting directly to the router. All the lights come on and flash like normal and I have done a factory reset and still nothing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI currently have a Router that is ADSL2 & VPN capable. It currently allows me to work from home and connect to work servers securely. I have used traceroute [URL] in CMD to determine that all web requests/traffic goes through the VPN server rather than just the requests to access files on the VPN server.I don't feel comfortable having all my traffic now go through work servers(the VPN) so I would like to avoid this. I know I have 2 solutions:- Use Split Tunelling on the router where only requests to files on the VPN server will go through the VPN server, all other traffic is not through the VPN. I have heard that this can compromise the whole network as one node is currently 'unsecured' and can affect/compromise the whole network. Is this true?
- Add a second Router that doesn't connect through the VPN. When I finish work I disconnect from the VPN Routers wireless connection and connect through the second routers wireless connection. I would like to take solution 2 because I wont be compromising the whole network but I have some questions:- Is this something you would recommend?
- Is it dangerous? Is it just as compromising as solution 1?
- In Australia we use physical Phone Splitters for our internet physical connection. One side of the splitter connects to a phone line port on the wall. The other side has 2 ports, one for the phone line connection and one for the router/adsl connection. If I have 2 routers I'll need a splitter that has more than 2 ports so I can connect the 2nd router to the internet. Are there Phone Splitters with more than 2 ports and do ISP's allow me to do this?
I have Verizon fios with a modem that has a build in router. I purchased a secondary router so to separate what devices goes online. Now I did the easy setup wizard and connect the secondary router successfully however there is no Internet connection. Is how can I separate the routers and use the same internet connection.
