As we comunicated with the router thorugh HyperTerminal, the router asked me to restart. After we did so the router only sends encrypted messages wich is unreadable. We neither get any respons in the terminal when we try to write commands back to the router. We have tried to use different terminal programs as well as the USB port on the router.

Cisco Routers :: How Does Quality And Longevity Of SRP500 Series Compare To RV Series

May 27, 2012

My Draytek 2710 just dies after 2 years so I was looking for something a little more reliable and noticed the spec of the SRP527W-U.I take it with only one antenna and reading a couple of past discussions, the wireless will only manage n-lite as some people call it i.e. 150Mbps, and not the full 300? Oh, and are the ports still only 100M and not Gig?I know the 547 would tick both these boxes but we are talking twice the price.  How does the quality and logevity of the SRP500 series compare to the RV series (which would need an adsl modem) or the Linksys boxes?

Cisco VPN :: Tunnel Failure On 3945 Routers Running 152-4.M1?

Mar 12, 2013

I'm experiencing a failure on headend 3945 routers with VPN tunnels to remote 2901 routers. Essentially, a tunnel a a 3945 will go down/down although the tunnel on the remote router indicates it is up/up.  It happens intermittently and I am not seeing anything in the logs, other than the tunnel goes down.  This seems so much like an IOS bug, but I can't find anything specific in caveats on this version of code.

Cisco Routers :: RV220W Enabling WMM Reduces Wi-Fi Throughput Significantly

Aug 25, 2012

according to [URL] enabling WMM should increase wireless performance. Although this article is rather old, how is the RV220W expected to behave?

In my case, speed measurements show a clear decrease in wireless performance when WMM is enabled.

For example:
WMM enabled - max 15MBits/s (ticked WMM checkbox - default settings)
WMM disabled - max 40MBits/s

Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 - How To Achieve Maximum Data Throughput

Oct 15, 2012

what the maximum Data Througput can be for this router. Right now, the router is limiting my internet speed compared to what the cable modem can provide..So far, I know that when I connect my computer directly to the output of the Motorola Cable Modem and run a Speed Test on my Charter cable connection, the test shows ~ 50 Mbps for downloads and ~5 Mbps for uploads. That would be great, but I have multiple computers and need to use a router/gateway to feed my LAN. When I insert the RVS4000 router between modem and computer, the Speed Test results drop to ~ 16 Mbps for downloads and remain ~ 5 Mbps for uploads. During that test, there were no other computers online via the router. While 16 Mbps is not shabby, I would like to achieve the full value... is that possible?

Is the RVS4000 unit capable of 50 Mbps for 30 Mbps? How do I setup the router to achieve the maximum available download speed? There is a setup page for the router which has settings right now set at 50000 Kbps Upload and 60000 Kbps for Download; this implies to me that the router is capable of such speeds.

Cisco Routers :: RV110W Throughput Drops Substantially A Few Days After Rebooting

May 20, 2013

My RV110W is only a few months old and apparently started ginvg me issues shortly after I got it. Since it was new, however, I only recently suspected it as the culprit!

I have a simple home/small business setup. A single PC wired into the lan and a handful of occasional use laptops & Android phones/tablets and a Playstation. My connection is a 30M down / 5M up cable link. I have a UBEE DOCSYS 3.0 cable modem operating in passthru mode to my RV110W.

Over the course of several days, thruput drops from the measured 30/5 down to as low as 1/whatever. Rebooting the RV110W restored full speed. The UBEE has never been rebooted during this time. Connecting my wired desktop PC directly to the UBEE modem give me the full 30 downlink speed even when the RV110W perfomance has dropped to 5 or even 1.

I am using onle a single wireless LAN, no logging turned on, no VPN, no other 'tuning of settings. As it is, this device must be rebooted every few days to restore full network speed. This is unacceptable, of course - especially from a small business class device!

Cisco Routers :: Using RV042 In Series With Another Router

May 16, 2012

I have been able to put two Linksys routers in series no problem but this doesn't seem to work with an RV042.I have a number of customers that need to connect to a private email network via a router based VPN, but since VPN traffic is not filtered in the firewall, I would like to use an older Linksys router to manage the VPN(s) and have it pass data in through the filters of an RV042 on the DMZ port.I am getting stuck on the very frist part of this. Although I can connect to both the RV042 and LinkSys directly (by adjusting my subnet), I cannot ping the Linksys when it is connected through the DMZ port even if I disable the RV042 Internet port.

I know both the Internet and DMZ ports work on the RV042. I suspected that perhaps the RV won't pass through private IPs and tried known available pubic IPs instead of the 192.168.2.x subnet, but still no ping. What would be limiting the RV in this case? Is is possible to setup the RV to work in series with another router? Is there any other way to filter VPN traffic?

Cisco Infrastructure :: ADSL Disconnects On 800 Series Routers

Mar 21, 2012

We have deployed a number of 800 series routers for some of our clients and have found that in many cases they seem to disconnect at an excessive rate. When I connected to the console of one the other day I could see that the virtual-interface for the ADSL connection was down, but not the ATM or DSL interface. If I disconnected the cable and reconnected the virtual-circuit came back up momentarily before disconnecting within a minute.

If I switched off the router for a few minutes and powered it back on it would usually remain up for a few hours. I reconfigured the router again using exactly the same config and it seemed to stay up for quite long periods for 4 or 5 days before reverting to type. [code]
