I have 2 Cisco routers 3945. Use HSRP for links failover. Does exist any possibility (any protocol) which makes routers configuration's automatic synchronization (as failover for ASA firewalls)? I mean, if I will make any configuration changes on the Active router, automticly will taken this changes by the Standby router.

The customer requests that we make one of their termination points the primary VPN connection and make the other termination point the backup in the event that the primary VPN fails. How do I configure this on the ASA? Does the below configuration fulfill this goal?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing a failure on headend 3945 routers with VPN tunnels to remote 2901 routers. Essentially, a tunnel a a 3945 will go down/down although the tunnel on the remote router indicates it is up/up. It happens intermittently and I am not seeing anything in the logs, other than the tunnel goes down. This seems so much like an IOS bug, but I can't find anything specific in caveats on this version of code.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI’m currently training to take my CCNA, So for the reason I’m here, I have just been asked to take over the company network.And I need to know how I go about configuring some base level routers.I have 3 remote sites and 1 main site, all these routers are using 857’s, with a VPN tunnel between them, this is running all OK and working fine,But my boss has decided to have a second ADSL line installed in the main site for failover.How do I go about configuring this, ie how do the VPN’s terminate on the other router when the main one goes down?

I have an issue where we have a single ASA5505 [soon to be active/standby with single ISP] connecting to HQ where there are 2 x Cisco 2821's. Each 2821 router has it's own connection to the internet running BGP and each router is setup to terminate IPSEC VPN's from the ASA. The ASA has a backup VPN configuration with no IP SLA configuration to track if the Primary IPSEC endpoint is alive. Keep alives are set and the VPN does failover to the backup.When the primary 2821 internet connection fails the ASA fails over to the backup 2821 and everything works a dream. However when the primary internet link re establishes to the primary 2821 the ASA does not fail back to the primary 2821 it stays on the backup 2821 and all is broken as the remote site starts forwarding traffic out the BGP default route - which is back via the primary connection...How do I fix this so that the ASA tracks the IP of the primary router to failback without manual intervention - clearing isakmp and ipsec sa's?The other issue is the ASA does not allow traffic to be orignated from the 2821 end of the VPN. You have to establish traffic from behind the ASA for the IPSEC sa to be created.

We are looking at purchasing and RV042 soon and have one cruitcial question. I am looking at having two internet connections running into the RV042. The only load balancing is going to be that all the VOIP traffic will go through one connection (eg WAN2) and then have all other traffic (such as web and email) through WAN1.
I am looking to have it so that if one of the internet connections goes down then it will failover EVERYTHING to the one that is working so both the VOIP and all the other traffic share the same connection until both WANs then go back online.
I have an issue with configuring the VPN Stateful failover between two cisco routers 3845. The stateful HA is not up.

I was wondering how does failover works on Cisco Small Business RV016. Specifically, I am interested when one WAN line stop working, and all the computers in the LAN start using another line. Does it means that IP addresses of the computers in the LAN will change, or they stay the same? If they change can I set it up that they always stay the same no matter which input WAN they are using?

View 2 Replies View RelatedRV042 in Router mode.WAN1 preferred.With Smart Link it seems to work to a point.When WAN1 fails, it fails over to WAN2.But then it gets stuck on WAN2 and I have to manually switch to WAN2 preferred and then back to WAN1 preferred to get WAN1 connection to return.The test IP addresses should be just fine as set.
Is there something I should be doing differently?
Have a 1921 that has 3 eth connections (1 LAN, and 2 WAN) - I have 2 seperate OSPF processes (2 areas) on the WAN Ints - both upstream WAN's are sending defaults back to the 1921, and the 1921 is sending it's LAN range to them.
I have ip ospf cost 150 set on the "failover" WAN connection interface (Both on the 1921 and upstream), but the 1921 is preferring the default route from the "failover"?
The default routes are both being received by the 1921, but it's preferring the "failover" Int with the ip ospf cost 150 configured?
I am trying to find out what the 'normal' operating temperature of the CPU in a 3945 router is? We have just replaced some 2800 routers for 3945's and the NMS server initially complained about the new router CPU temperature being too high. Compared to the 2800 the CPU temperature is much hotter - 50 degrees celcius as opposed to 20-smothing degrees. I have searched but can't find what are considered 'normal'?

The issue happens intermittenly and makes network not reahable.Status of the links are UP/UP - No traffic forwarded through the link (Ser 0/0/0:1 and Ser 0/0/0:2) and at the same time not able to ping the local IP Address as well - 10.5.10.1/10.7.10.1.No issue on the Ser 0/0/0:0 link - Working fine.If you replace the new router with the old one all are working fine.
Our company have purchase new cisco 3945 and install SM ES3G-24-P.
Etherswitch already configure and can access service module. But assigned VLAN in a port and and ping the host connected on is RTO from the router.
Do i need to upgrade the IOS of the chassis so that the SM installed be detect as ordinary GE port?

Let's say I need to find maximum number of PRIs I can connect on a C3945.
I see that I could buy for example (4) VWIC3-4MFT-T1/E1. The C3945 comes with (4) EHWICs where such VWIC3-4MFT-T1/E1 cards can be inserted. Since each VWIC3 has (4) ports each, that would be total of 16 PRIs.
Then let's say I want to put more Service Modules and allow me to expand it further. The C3945 can support up to (4) service modules.
If I want to put the maximum number of PRIs possible, is it right I could install (4) NM-8CE1T1-PRI. That would give me maximum of 48 PRIs in a C3945.
I wanted to confirm if the NM-2W is compatible with 3845 (says it is compatible) and 3945.I wanted increase WIC density in these routers to install ISDN HWIC-4B-S/T 4-port ISDN BRI High-Speed WAN Interface Card.However, i am not sure if these cards are compatible on the NM-2W. Is there any other NM* module that can extend WIC density on those routers.

The issue that we are experimenting is that, although the module's interfaces are up and HSRP in correctly configured, the show standby summary displays that the Active router is local in both routers. We also have some GigabitEthernet in the routers and they are correctly running HSRP. Does the WLC Modules physically support HSRP?
Does 3945 support nat for SCTP ?

I have a Ethernet module (SM-ES3G-16-P) installed in a 3945 router and noticed during first boot no licenses are active at all. I would assume at a mimimum ipbase would be active. With this module, does static routing work with just ipbase?

The expected result is:
- The interface works properly (because access list is permitting every kind of data traffic in input)
- Checking “show access-list 180”, the counter of matched packets increments for all the packets that are forwarded inside the fa0/0/1.
But actually the Fastethernet 0/0/1 drops all the packets as if all the packets don’t match with access list (And this behavior is really incredible). The interface couldn't be used anymore because any kind of data traffic is denied.
Will the 3945 router work on 208 V single phase (line to line)? I know it mentions 100-240 VAC, but would the line-to-line issue cause a problem?

That router has 8 Gre/IPsec tunnels and one of those tunnels is 100Mbps.The question is, could I get 100Mbps as the sum of all tunnels, or is there a restriction to 85Mbps ??
