1. Before that, do I need to wipe out the existing confi on the brand new switch?
2. About using TFTP, how does this new switch connects to the TFTP? Does it mean I have to assign a real IP and put it on our network?

I want to split my traffic between two ISP's. I want all traffic to pass over one connection EXCEPT my VPN tunnels, which I want to use the second ISP. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed four Cisco RV042 v3 VPN routers for a customer of ours to replace existing Nortel Contivity 1010 devices which were providing VPN tunnels from the customer's 3 branches to their headoffice. The original Nortel devices were working perfectly but the customer wanted some firewall rule changes and the Nortels were proving to be somewhat inflexible and incomprehensible in their configuration hence why they were replaced.
When installing the Cisco routers I configured the VPN settings to match the Nortel device settings so that I could swap out a branch at a time without taking the whole setup down for a day.The customer has a Unix based dumb-terminal application running on a server at headoffice that they access from their branches using terminal emulators on Windows PCs and thin client hardware devices that support vt100 terminal emulation.
Prior to installing the Cisco RV042's everything was working fine. Now they are using the RV042's they keep getting the sessions from their branches dropped. Both PC users and thin client users are losing sessions and it happens with active and idle sessions. I have checked the logs on the routers when users are disconnected and there is nothing logged at that time (other than my login)... I had thought maybe it was to do with tunnel renegotioations so I have set to phase 1 / phase 2 SA timeouts to 86400 & 28800 seconds respectively but this has had no effect. I had also seen somebody advised disabling 'SPI' in the firewall... I have tried this and it makes no difference.
My Draytek 2710 just dies after 2 years so I was looking for something a little more reliable and noticed the spec of the SRP527W-U.I take it with only one antenna and reading a couple of past discussions, the wireless will only manage n-lite as some people call it i.e. 150Mbps, and not the full 300? Oh, and are the ports still only 100M and not Gig?I know the 547 would tick both these boxes but we are talking twice the price. How does the quality and logevity of the SRP500 series compare to the RV series (which would need an adsl modem) or the Linksys boxes?

We are in the process of switching to a new internet provider in our office and have run into some problems. Our old setup was with AT&T, where they provided a managed router which linked to our internal switch and also provided NAT to the internal IP of our email server. Our new setup right now is just the internet coming in through a cable connected to a switch, we were told we needed to provide our own router. Someone donated a Cisco 2900.What should our proper set-up be? Should the internet come in directly to the router and then to our switch, or should it go to the switch they provided, then the router, and then our switch? Also, there seems to be some confusion about whether or not we need anything else to get the internet to work. There are slots for network cards in the router. Does it come with at least one built in we can use, or do we need to provide one?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am looking to setup for BGP with the following conditions:
Client has two 2900 routers, each connecting to a seperate ISP
Client has a Sonic Firewall with a link to each router
Client owns their own /24 block of public IPs and has their own AS Number.
Client has a public /24 and /25 from the corresponding ISPs
Client has supplied the following routing rules they would like to use:
-Anything from their own public subnet should advertize via the two ISP's with best path selection
-Anything from the respective ISP public subnets should use only their link (The ISP's are not auth'd to advertize the other's network)
The two routers are directly connected to eachother and each has a link going to the Sonicwall.

We need to access the branches subnets when connecting using VPN to the 2900 ISR.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI configured a RV042 to load balance 2 WANs. It appears to working well but I would like a 2nd opinion as to whether or not I chose the proper settings to accomplish the task.
1. WAN1(ISP1) is the existing internet connection(1.5mb T1). I have a block of static IPs with ISP1.
2. I added ISP2 to the RV042's WAN2 connection to increase bandwith (10mb). I only have one static IP on ISP2.
3. I want everyone on this router to use WAN2... well... almost everyone... for the most part.
4. I want to keep WAN1 active on this router because there will be periodic inbound connections using static IPs (from ISP1) that are setup with one-to-one NAT. I also have a voicemail system that needs to continue to use ISP1's email relay (SMTP,25).
Anyway, I was able get the outgoing traffic that had to remain on WAN1 working with protocol binding. In order to get the router to use WAN2 for pretty much everything else, I set it for load balancing and set "Max. Bandwidth provided by ISP" for WAN1 up & down kbits/sec both to 32 (very low). I left the WAN2 up & down settings to the actual speed of WAN2.
The result is very low traffic on WAN1 and lots of traffic on WAN2 which is what I wanted. Did I do this right? Is there another preferred method to accomplish this.
I have a Cisco RV016 router, with some ports configured in "Setup --> UPnP". Currently I have problems to configure new ports. I can create the service in "Service Management", but when I add this service to the list, I press "Save" and the router close the session. I need to re-login the router, and it don't save the changes.
However, if I add a service that was already exists before having this problems, the router save the changes (But the router close the session too).
The router has the last version of firmware since the first run.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been able to put two Linksys routers in series no problem but this doesn't seem to work with an RV042.I have a number of customers that need to connect to a private email network via a router based VPN, but since VPN traffic is not filtered in the firewall, I would like to use an older Linksys router to manage the VPN(s) and have it pass data in through the filters of an RV042 on the DMZ port.I am getting stuck on the very frist part of this. Although I can connect to both the RV042 and LinkSys directly (by adjusting my subnet), I cannot ping the Linksys when it is connected through the DMZ port even if I disable the RV042 Internet port.
I know both the Internet and DMZ ports work on the RV042. I suspected that perhaps the RV won't pass through private IPs and tried known available pubic IPs instead of the 192.168.2.x subnet, but still no ping. What would be limiting the RV in this case? Is is possible to setup the RV to work in series with another router? Is there any other way to filter VPN traffic?
