View 2 RepliesWe have just installed a Cisco RV120W behind a third party firewall. All works correctly now, but we are struggling to get the Quick VPN clients connected. I have enabled port forwarding for PPTP & L2TP over IPSEC on the third party router, but still cannot connect (the RV120W was previously used as a primary router & worked perfectly). What ports do I need to open on the third party router to get this to work correctly?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Draytek 2710 just dies after 2 years so I was looking for something a little more reliable and noticed the spec of the SRP527W-U.I take it with only one antenna and reading a couple of past discussions, the wireless will only manage n-lite as some people call it i.e. 150Mbps, and not the full 300? Oh, and are the ports still only 100M and not Gig?I know the 547 would tick both these boxes but we are talking twice the price. How does the quality and logevity of the SRP500 series compare to the RV series (which would need an adsl modem) or the Linksys boxes?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been able to put two Linksys routers in series no problem but this doesn't seem to work with an RV042.I have a number of customers that need to connect to a private email network via a router based VPN, but since VPN traffic is not filtered in the firewall, I would like to use an older Linksys router to manage the VPN(s) and have it pass data in through the filters of an RV042 on the DMZ port.I am getting stuck on the very frist part of this. Although I can connect to both the RV042 and LinkSys directly (by adjusting my subnet), I cannot ping the Linksys when it is connected through the DMZ port even if I disable the RV042 Internet port.
I know both the Internet and DMZ ports work on the RV042. I suspected that perhaps the RV won't pass through private IPs and tried known available pubic IPs instead of the 192.168.2.x subnet, but still no ping. What would be limiting the RV in this case? Is is possible to setup the RV to work in series with another router? Is there any other way to filter VPN traffic?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have deployed a number of 800 series routers for some of our clients and have found that in many cases they seem to disconnect at an excessive rate. When I connected to the console of one the other day I could see that the virtual-interface for the ADSL connection was down, but not the ATM or DSL interface. If I disconnected the cable and reconnected the virtual-circuit came back up momentarily before disconnecting within a minute.
If I switched off the router for a few minutes and powered it back on it would usually remain up for a few hours. I reconfigured the router again using exactly the same config and it seemed to stay up for quite long periods for 4 or 5 days before reverting to type. [code]
We have an MPLS network to a half dozen remote sites. At our main location we have a 2800 series router. In the routers config are the following lines for QOS. When I go to the routers on the other end of the MPLS, none of them are configured with these same policies. Would these not be in the running config of the 1800 series routers, or is this not setup correct and this should be removed?

This is working fine and the user now need a valid certificate and a username/password to authenticate successfully.I added the CA certificate as a associated trustpoint on the ASA box to get the certificate verification working.Problem:If Jane and Joe both have a valid certificate AND a valid username/password, Jane could authenticate using a combo of Joes certificate, and Janes username/password. Both are valid (isolated), but i only want jane to be able to authenticate with her username/password and her personal certificate.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm responsible for designing the network for a LAN party that will be held in October. There will be up to 400 participants and 25-30 crew members. 10 table rows, 40 participants and one 48-port gigabit switch on each table. Core network will be a couple of Cisco 3560G or similar. There will be 2xGbit between the table and core switches. So, how to set up VLANs and subnets for a 400+ people network?
1) Everything on one /23 subnet, or
2) Participants on one /23 subnet, separate subnets for servers, crew and wireless, or
3) Participants on two /24 subnets, separate subnets for servers/crew/wireless, or
4) Separate /26 subnets for each table switch and for servers/crew/wireless?
As far as I can see, the main disadvantage of all participants on one subnet is troubleshooting and isolating network problems - and the main disadvantages of separate subnets is more complex setup and that people cannot browse LAN games other than those on the same switch.
I am thinking about running some third-party unified communications apps under VMWare ESXi5 on a Cisco SRE 900 module. According to the Cisco docs, third-party apps are supported on these modules (see table below) but the app in question is NOT on Cisco's list below.
[URL]
Some questions:
1. As long as the third-party app is capable of running under VMWare/VSphere ESXi5, is there anything on the SRE that would prevent you from running this third-party app even though it's not on Cisco's list?
2. What is Cisco's policy on the use of third-party apps that are not on their list? For example, will they take a support call on the SRE running a non-listed app. (I don't want to void any sort of support contract through the use of a third-party app not on their list).
How come the 2600 series IOS has the show mac-address command but it does not display anything? you need to use show arp? is this for when you use one of those network modules that is a switch?

When ethernet switches advertise 10mbps, is that upstream & downstream? When all the computers are hooked to 24 ports, does the advertised 10mbps go lower? Shouldn't I see some information when I attempt to connect, some acknowledgement that I have connected? I have tried using both hyperterminal anbd PuTTy.
