View 2 Replies View RelatedBasically I am trying to do a bit of a clean up at work and replacing two dlink (home style) ADSL modems with a single Cisco 2901 router with 2 ADSL HWICs. On top of this I want to isolate the 2 connections from each other, that is I don't want to use them as fail-over or anything just as 2 seperate connections. To do this I am using VRF tunnels. So far I have been successful in the global config of the switch and everything works. And when I put the lan, atm and dialer interface into my VRF it connects up all fine.My issue that I am having is that DNS (which is being pulled from the ISP via ppp ipcp dns) seems to just populate the global dns view, not the view I created for the VRF. This results in DNS queries not being able to be resolved but all other traffic is fine (i.e. I can ping and access anything on the net, I just can't resolve names).
If I have 2 ADSL connections, on two VRF tunnels, how can I seperate their DNS information for each connection/VRF tunnel? especially if that information is different as they overwrite the global DNS config each time they connect.... I could (and have successfully tested) statically assigning DNS servers to each DNS view but I would rather rely on each ISP sending their DNS servers as opposed to me hard coding them.
The router keeps loosing connection to the internet. I can still log into the router locally but cant connect out or in from the internet. Which is a big problem as i use this device remotely. I have tried different firmware (.9, .19, .27) the .19 seems to be the most stable but i am still having problems. The only way to rectify it is to reboot the router. Is there a fix for this or a way to schedule a reboot on the router.

I am doing a comparative between cisco and sonicwall routers. Which router would better fit me? i need it to support at least a 20MB internet connection in a datacenter and has to have a firewall included. I was thinking about a router 1941. What do you think ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having problems trying to connect to my wi-fi. I first noticed that I had problems connecting to some types of unsecured wi-fi connections when I was "borrowing" from my neighbour while I waited for telus to install my internet. My two roommates would have no problem surfing but my computer was unable to get any connection to the internet (i could see the connections but never load a page)
Once telus came and installed the internet I was able to get a "fair" connection to the router and surf with decent speeds. About a week after I first started using the internet, my computer started being unable to connect the router. It seems that everything is getting worse and worse. It started by me having to restart the adapter a couple of times to make it work, to me having to delete the network profile and then redo it, to me only being able to connect by using the WPS.
And now my computer can't even get the information from the router through WPS! I would start to point the finger at telus, but every one of my roommates has no problems connecting to the internet, and it's not a range issue (i'm typing this up with my laptop while sitting beside my desktop).
I have a prob with my laptops, wireless setup although it shows wlan on it will not work without a connection to the router, netgear wgr614,I have gone into Devise Mng and found the following faults,Serial cable IRDA problem code 43 & SRTSPX code 24 not working.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently set up two LAN networks. But one of them (Router 2) will be open (no password). Will this create a security compromise? Can the Router 2 Users access information of users of Router 1?
Modem WAN > Router 1 WAN
Router 1 LAN > Router 2 WAN
The router 1 and 2 are broadcasting different networks and SSID.Is there any setting that I need to change, or this configuration is perfectly safe? both of them have DHCP enabled.
I have a Cisco 2610 series router(Version 12.0(5)T1, c2600-i-mz.120-5.T1), which has a network module inserted. I would like to view the model of this network module. There are no "show inventory" or "show platform" commands. "Show version" doesn't list the network module as well. In addition, it appears to have a "show c2600" command, but this doesn't display any hardware information.

A bad release is going to happen sooner or later but if the company does nothing about the problem it is time to move to a new brand.
At the very least when is the next firmware version going to be released? I have tried them all and none of them seem to work. I am well past the stage of troubleshooting because the problems I have like Way to many other people are not being solved by discussions and firmware changes or altering settings.
My father has a small office at home with a server, used to store some files and software he uses and provide a stable network for the house. The network looks something like this:
-Our wall socket line runs to a modem we have from our ISP
-The modem then is connected to our server computer
-Which is in turn connected to a switch
-...where the computers and a router are connected to
This was set up by some computer company. Now for the question: we have used the router connected to the switch to connect wirelessly to the server to receive emails on our mobile phones (email runs via the server too). Also, my father syncs his Outlook diary on his phone this way. Apparently this doesn't work when connected to the modem, I guess because that signal hasn't been processed by the server yet. Now we are unable to connect to the router, presumably because it is quite old and ready for a replacement.
The question is: Can I just replace it with some random router and expect it to work? Or do I need a more specific router/more specific settings in the router to make this work again?
I'm trying to make multihoming on cisco 892 router.I Managed to build configuration which works as I wanted but I ran into problem which I can't solve till now.I'm trying to do port forwarding on cisco with 2 working WAN interfaces.
Configuration:
interface FastEthernet8
description ISP_B
ip address 192.168.150.10 255.255.255.0
ip nat outside

I'm trying to view the logs from a Cisco 857W router to a workstation running the Kiwi Syslog server. what I've done is the following:
Config term
Logging on
Logging source-interface BVI1
Logging Facility Local7 (or any other facility you want to allocate for this router.)
Logging [IP Address or Hostname of machine running Kiwi Syslog Server]
End
I see noting on the syslog server. Although I can see the log information on the router Also is there a command to stop the logging from generating or is this on by default.
No changes made but router will lose all information for IPv connectivity. I have paid twice to support to fix this issue and it still occurs every few months. I tried rebooting router, and doing an IP Release/ Renew and router does not get IP address.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI saw older discussions over WOL and RV082/RV042. As router blocks broadcast packets from internet to lan, to make WOL work, i should change router's ARP table using telnet, probably with V1 and V2 versions this action was possible, but trying telnet connection (http://<Router IP Address>/ sysinfo123.htm?ConsoleSimulation=1 with RV082 V3 nothing appears, and telnet connection on standard port (23) fails.
How to make pass WOL magic packets through a RV082 V3 from internet to LAN ? Using simply port forwarding don't work, as router discard broadcast packets incoming from internet.
I currrently have the RVS4000 and am looking at the RV180, but I'm having an issue with the RV180 supporting the Dynamic DNS service I need (see here). In that discussion, it seems what would be ideal for me is a router running IOS so I could customize the Dyanmic DNS client on there to fit my needs. However, is there any "affordable" router running IOS that's similar to the RV180 tailored to a small business without getting an overkill router?
Here's my basic needs:Router either compatible with DNS Made Easy's Dynamic DNS service OR has the ability to customize the Dynamic DNS client on there so I can adapt it for DNS Made Easy.I DO NOT need wireless. We only need Ethernet/wired.I prefer Gigabit Ethernet. We're not currently using ProtectLink, so if it offers the ability for it, great, if not, fine.We have our own VPN service and don't need to access the network remotely (just remote into one device using Dynamic DNS), so if it has built-in VPN, great, if not, fine.I'd like IPS included. Our RVS4000 has it and I like this feature. We're switching to cable broadband and VOIP through our cable company, so QoS should probably be included.
I've been having this issue with my wireless connection for quite a few months now and up until now I've just dealt with it. With the release of Diablo 3 (whoo!) it's become unbearable with this lag spikes. My ping will be fine, steady around 50-90 but then randomly spike upwards of 400. After a few moments (literally a second or two) it'll drop back down to it's normal speed. This happens in all online games I play, WoW, League of Legends, DotA 2 and now Diablo 3, I have roadrunner and pay for 25 download and 1 upload so it should be more than enough to play the games I'd like, I'm also running on windows 7. I think part of the problem could be the fact that the router is in the basement and I'm on the second story. I have a netgear wndr3700v3 router and I set up a repeater in my room to see if that would work (asus rt-n12 router) and although it has increased my speed, I still have these ping spikes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed an RE1000, which seemed to be working fine. Then, on 3 PC's with no wireless adapter installed we began being prompted for user name and password for the wireless router. Once I unplugged to extender the problem went away. I know what you're thinking: Maybe I just think there's no wireless adapter on these PC's. NO, I looked in device manager and the only network adapter installed is the ethernet adapter. These are all 4+ year old machines with no hardware changes made to them. Wireless adapters are not necessarily standard issue on old towers--even on new towers. The Acer I'm using right now was purchased new in November 2011 and did not come with a wireless adapter installed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a small business customer that is on the hunt for a new small business level router. While they are staying OK on a current consumer level gigabit WAN Netgear box, we are eager to implement something much better. After giving a Zyxel USG50 a try, we had a nightmare with their VOIP provider, Vocalocity, that doesn't like to have SIP ALG turned on (which Zyxel says is a requirement for their USG boxes to work with SIP service). I was curious if any of you had recommendations on great gigabit WAN small business routers (not UTMs of any sort). Here is their setup:
* 1 incoming WAN connection from a fiber provider called Sidera. They are achieving over 100Mbps currently and their provider Sidera REQUIRES us to have a gigabit WAN capable router in order to match the duplex and speed of their enteprise switches.
* About 8-12 office computers.
* About 8-10 VOIP desk phones through Vocalocity (Cisco SPA phones using SIP service, all cloud hosted - a Zyxel USG50 wreaked havoc on the service).
We are looking for something in the $100-250 price range. There seem to be a few options but I am not sure which one would be best to go with, that has a great compatibility out of box with cloud hosted voip phone service.
Any experience with any of the above units in such a setup as we have? The highest priorities for us are LAN-WAN throughput and VOIP quality/bandwidth/compatibility. Dual WAN is not a necessity, but nice to have. Prefer that all ports on the box are full gigabit if possible, but WAN has to be.
