Cisco WAN :: 2951 Working As MPLS Router
Nov 28, 2012Can Cisco2951 work as an MPLS router. If yes what will be needed to make it function as an MPLS router? Else which alternative router can function as an MPLS router.

View 2 Replies View Relatedsetting up MPLS on a single T3 line. A client has contacted us to set up a 2951 at a branch location. There are 5 locations connected with MPLS.They will split off 4meg of the T3 for mpls. The rest of the 45meg would go to the internet. They have two 1841's currently set up with a T1 line in each. One 1841 connects to the MPLS and the other to the internet. When the T3 is turned up by the provider, everything, internet and MPLS, will go through it. I asked for the current configurations, but I have not received them yet and this setup is due in a couple days.Given I've never configured MPLS before and I have a rudimentary understanding of how it works, any tips or configurations? I'd hate to be stuck on site and not equipped to complete the job.

Installation of 2 x 4 Mbps MPLS circuit on primary router (CISCO 2951) and 1 x 8 Mbps Ethernet link on secondary router (Cisco 2951). We have successfully implement the primary router with 2 x 4 Mbps MPLS circuit. Site is having two computer room CR1 and CR2 and distance between both room is 200mts. CR1 is having primary core router and primary core switch where the service provider terminated the new MPLS circuit and we have done the successful implementation. CR2 is having Secondary core router and secondary core switch where we needs to have the termination of Ethernet link but service provider has delivered the Ethernet link on the CR1 which is incorrect DMARC Location.
Both the computer rooms are connected via optical copper can we use that copper to connect the circuit on CR2, as per my understanding we can use the optical fiber to connect the wind circuit on secondary router on CR2 by using the media connector.
I've been working with a company in the UK to get a PTP connection setup between Minneapolis, MN and Chicago, IL. At each site with have a ASR1002. The connection is made via a fiber connection from Level 3. Level 3 is just handling layer 2 and we are to take care of everything else. As of right now they can see the mac address of the Minneapolis port in the Chicago router. But, I can't see theirs. Nor can I ping the Chicago router. The config that was give to me by the higher engineers is simple enough.

View 2 Replies View Relatedconfiguring my Cisco 2951 router. There are three routed interfaces that I need to configure: one for the internal LAN, the second for another private subnet that connects to a Data Centre and the third for the WAN connection. I have configured the Ge0/0 interface as the LAN interface with the internal network 10.17.0.0/24. I have also configured my WAN interface Ge0/1 for internet connectivity. Now, I need to configure the third interface Ge0/2 that will connect to the Data Centre. This will be a private point to point switched ethernet link. The Data Centre will host a secondary domain controlller. So, I want it to be on the same network as the internal LAN, i.e., 10.17.0.0/24. I want to be able to see all other devices that will be located at the Data Centre just like I would see all devices connected to the internal LAN.The problem I am facing is that Cisco 2951 does not allow me to configure two routed interfaces to be on the same subnet. Is there any way to work around this problem and configure both the internal LAN and the Data Centre private network to be on the same subnet.

I have talked to two Cisco Reps via our distributor and explained our network to them both and asked for suggested equipment. Our infrastructure has 4 circuits coming into the data center from our remote sites. Two of the circuits are cat5 and two are DS3. I want to use two routers to support two circuits each (cat5 and DS3). Each circuit is around 30Mb servicing around 13 locations with T1 connections, 55 locations in total. They suggested at a minimum the cisco 2951 model because we are utilizing one NM-1T3/E3 module in each router, and suggested getting the cisco 3925 model to cover future growth. I asked for a data sheet that has suggested models of routers for the bandwidth of the incoming pipes. The technicians said they would email this information over but twice now I have not received it and cannot find this information anywhere online. We currently have a cisco 2851 utilizing one NM-1T3/E3 module and they purchased a cisco 2911 to replace this unit.

I have 3 locations connected with MPLS connectivity … 2 mbps , 2 mbps branches and 4 mbps and I have Cisco 1841 router ?Last few days I am facing problem that Cisco 1841 router’s Lan port suddenly stop working and connectivity get disconnected. In this stage branch offices can reach up to CISCO 1841 WAN port.
( I have changed 2 different router assuming router problem but issues remain same, Hence No hardware problem )
I wanted to get some opinions on the topic above. We are purchasing MPLS services from a large ISP and they offer a managed router option. I will also have a Cisco ISR 2900 at each site running SRST for my voice system. I have some experience with BGP and am not scared at all to support it if need be. That said, I am currently looking at pros and cons of going with a managed router from this company vs managing my own. Actually, I will manage my own regardless and would just plug it into the managed router. My router is perfectly capable of handling the BGP protocol but I am hoping that I can get some opinions from all of you.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for Routing Design scenarios to complete our configuration needs for remote branches. We will have two 1921 routers in each location, one with a T1 from our MPLS carrier, the other with a DSL connection from an ISP. The T1 router will have an assigned AS and use BGP to router back to head quarters. The DSL router will have an IPSec tunnel back to an ASA 5510 at head quarters. I envisions a GRE tunnel from the DSL router back to head end routers connecting to MPLS at head quarters. Not sure yet how to manipuate the routing between head quarters and the branches such that the T1 router is the primary route to and from the branches and the DSL router is for failover/backup.

I have 2 cisco 1941/K9 vpn router. I have configured both with LAN ip address given by our vpn provider which is 172.10.10.1 and the other is 172.10.20.1. Both IP addresses are configured to GigabitEthernet port 0/0 on both routers.
1. Is it possible to configure our own set of ip address like 10.71.10.1 and 10.71.50.1 on the GE 0/0 port?
2. Or can we configure our own set of ip addresses (10.71.10.1 and 10.71.50.1) to GigabitEthernet port 0/1 and maintain the other ip addresses on port 0/0?
The first purpose is to have our own set of ip addresses for LAN connection and I will be able to connect or telnet whichever ip address or port is up.
