Cisco Firewall :: Does ASA 5510 Support No Auto-summary And CIDR
Sep 19, 2011if I can do the following deployment using a Cisco ASA5510 security plus.
At this moment I have two interfaces in use one (outside) with the IP: 172.16.21.254/24 and the other (inside) with the IP: 192.168.4.1/24. Now the customer needs to connect another network that works with the IP segment: 192.168.0.0/22.
The IP segment 192.168.0.0/22 goes from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.3.254 that means that there is no a overlap with the network segment 192.168.4.0/24. My question is: If I configure another interface in the ASA that works in the segment 192.168.0.0/22 the routing table will auto-summary the network and merge it with the network 192.168.4.0 or will it leave the networks apart??
I don't user dynamic routing protocols but I cannot do the changes if I have doubts because the network 192.168.0.0/22 is a the Network for the Factory Automation Systems.

Jun 3, 2013I have configured a SVI in my 4500 ( Sup 7-E 10GE,,,,,,and,,,,,cat4500e-universalk9.SPA.03.02.00.SG.150-2.SG.bin) switch and it is showing Down Down, because there were no active switch port in the vlan, I added one switch port to this vlan but this port also in the down state, so i added the SWITCH PORT AUTO STATE EXCLUDE command under this port, even after this also the SVI never came up, So i added one systen to the port so both the switch port and the SVI came up...So why SWITCH PORT AUTO STATE EXCLUDE command have no effect in this model of the switch..

Jan 12, 2011I've inherited a 7206VXR router and it takes very long to boot. It outputs READonly ROMMON initialized to the console and 14 minutes later it continues the boot process. After 17+ minutes the boot is complete with the correct full image. The processing engine I have is the NPE-G1 and I'm looking for an upgradeable ROMMON image or a reason why the boot is taking this long.

Dec 22, 2011The issue is occuring on our local LAN where my ARP requests are being modified after a period of time by the router for one host. I'm finding that the host will work fine with the correct MAC IP pairing for a period of time and then about 15-30 minutes later, the arp table is changing so the associated mac/IP address is now the mac address of the router interface.
The FastEthernet 0/1 port has no ip proxy-arp enabled and is set with ip nat inside.This only started happening after restarting the router, however the running config was saved as the startup config prior to the restart.I've tried hard-coding the entry with the command arp 10.15.4.190 c82a.1459.0579 ARPA however that is not working as expected.
The device is an 1841 ISR with the advanced IP Services bundle loaded. Is there some way that the router is viewing my host (provides DNS, Directory Services) as a intrustion attempt and somehow rejecting the packets?
Tp-link Wr1043-nd Router Stops Taking Wifi Connections?
Sep 29, 2012I have been using a TP-Link WR1043-ND for a while now. It is configured as a dumb switch with DHCP disabled. Every other day or so, the device stops taking connections and I cannot access via the IP address. A simple power toggle resets everything immediately. Through this, the LAN connected devices never lose connectivity, I simply am not able to connect wirelessly or access the router via web browser.The only device I connect to the wifi is my phone, so it may actually be more frequently and I do not notice due to my low utilization (and I have 3G so I don't always notice right away if I'm connected). I have a WDTV Live SMP connected to one of the LAN ports and that functions non-stop regardless of the wifi. When the wifi is "down", my phone can see the network and attempts to connect. Sometimes it times out, other times I am repeatedly prompted that the password is incorrect, even though I am POSITIVE that I am entering it correctly. Once I toggle power on the router, the phone connects fine with the stored password.
I have updated to the latest firmware (about a month or so ago): Version: 3.13.12 Build 120405 Rel.33996n My hardware version is: WR1043ND v1 00000000 The router is connected (via LAN port 1) to a wall drop. My upstairs roomate maintains the gig switch and modem, as well as handling the network admin. I simply am using the router as a switch to provide extra ports and broadcast the network over wifi in my apartment.All that said: I need troubleshooting this router and it's configuration before I consider buying a more expensive replacement (and if I go this route, I might add a small switch as well to give me more than 4 LAN ports to work with). I am also considering flashing to DD-WRT before replacing as well to see if that makes a difference in reliability and uptime.

One device, my roommate's laptop, is a real bandwidth hog. It's connected (via internet, not VPN) to a work server and is frequently downloading and syncing large datafiles and media files.Unfortunately, when that laptop is downloading the other devices either cannot connect to the internet without timing out, or is VERY slow, for example pulling up websites like google.com. When that laptop is offline, everything works fine. It seemed like enabling QoS would resolve our problem.\
SETUPLinksys E1000, latest firmware (v2.1.02), using WPA2-Personal security.
We first tried enabling QoS and setting the MAC address of the downloading laptop to "low" priority and all others to "medium". No luck - the downloading laptop still seems to be hoarding the bandwidth.We also tried adding the download application to the list and setting the port to "low". Still no luck.We added a new application called "web" and set port 80-81 to "high", but that didn't work.We then disabled WMM support. No dice. The other devices still can't connect while my roommatte's laptop is syncing.We've fiddled around with the settings a bit, but no matter what, it looks like the QoS rules are not being applied.And is it acceptable to have multiple categories (MAC and application) in the QoS rules?

Jun 13, 2013i have a gateway router going to the internet....using public IP addresses on both interfaces. starting on Monday, traffic would suddenly stop flowing from the inside of the network going out, though i can still ping the outside interface , but when I log in to the router I am able to ping to the internet. so its like traffic is not passing from the outside int to the inside int. I have a 3900 router. other thing is, when i restart the router it will work for some time and then just stop again....

Feb 26, 2013When you configure an ABR to inject a summary route into an area, what are the circumstances under which the ABR will inject the summary? I.e., since it's not a set of specific subnets learned directly from other OSPF routers, does the summary get injected regardless of what's in the routing table of the ABR?
I would imagine this could cause problems in a situation where there is an ABR injecting a large summary into an NSSA that also has a backup path over the Internet (IPsec tunnel or something). For example, if the area 0 routers from which the ABR receives routes went down, the ABR would continue to inject the summary route into the NSSA thus tricking those routers into sending traffic to the ABR rather than over the backup link.
I can't imagine any other way an ABR would decide when it's suitable to inject the summary though.

The crypto ACL between sites states only one subnet.Is it possible to state a summary address in an ACL rather than having five lines for the ACL?The tunnel works when the router uses an ACL of 10.2.200.0 0.0.7.255, however if a summary address of all the subnets on the inside network of the ASA are stated in an ACL - 10.1.200.0 255.255.248.0 - then the tunnel does not come up.Is it possible to state a summary address on a crypto ACL on the ASA?

When I run a show net user summary it only displays a third of users. I'm hitting space to tab through each page, then eventually I just get dumped back to the command prompt.

Oct 4, 2011In earlier versions of LMS it was possible to choose i.e. the Routers category (top level) and enter a series of commands to be excluded from the comparison. In LMS 4.0.1 I experience, in several different installations, that this is not possible. It seems I can enter one exclude command beyond the defaults per category, the rest is not applied even though the feedback from the application is positive. Next time I access the Exclude Commands view, the commands I entered are gone. Is this a change of behaviour or a bug?

Sep 16, 2012I have a layer 3 switch with a bunch of SVIs all in the 192.168.x.0/24 range. I just want to advertise a 192.168.0.0/16 summary to the BGP neighbors. I can do this either by:
1) Redistributing connected into BGP and then using the 'aggregate-address' command to advertise the summary.
2) Specifying a network statement in the BGP config for every single SVI, then using the 'aggregate-address' command.
3) Create a static route to null0 (ip route 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 null0) and put 'network 192.168.0.0 mask 255.255.0.0' command in the BGP config.All three fulfill the same purpose of summarizing all the SVIs, but creating the static route is much cleaner in this case. It seems like the aggregate-address command is mostly intended for routers that are aggregating connections coming from other routers and all of them share a common prefix.

I was wondering - Is there a free tool to monitor who/which device is taking up all of the bandwidth? Something that kind of points out, "Hey, this guy is really slowing you down".
