Is there a router (1900-3900 series router) that will support a 100FX fiber connection. We use to use 2800-3800 and 2600-3700 series routers with FX fiber interface now these routers are no longer available and our need for 100Mbps FX is still a requirement.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWe are migrating from a Microwave T1 WAN to a Fiber ring WAN which I'll be connecting to our providers Ciena Metro E switches. Eventually we are going to move away from the routers, but the network is a little too complex as well as spanned across a lot of miles. Since I am the only networking personnel here, I would like to first simply migrate to the fiber by simply moving the connection configs off of the T1 interfaces, and onto one of the Gig interfaces on the 7206 and on one of the Fe interfaces on the 3900 (which is actually a 3700 series because the line card on the 3900 is toast). If this works, I will need to purchase Fe line cards for the 7206, because I found out that the virtual interfaces do not support Policy Mapping for our QOS and Multicasting.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have two 2960-s switches with GLC-FE-100FX fibre modules in and I am seeing packet loss over the link that is connected to the modules. When the interface is shutdown and brought back up it always comes up in half duplex even thought it is set to full in the config. I've seen other posts where you have to use the command no duplex then full duplex to get it to come up int full duplex. This does appear to work when I do a show int it says its full duplex however I'm stil seeing 20 - 40% packet loss on the link which suggests to me there is still a speed/duplex issue. The device at the other end is a Cisco 7200 which is set to 100Full. If I plug a Cisco 2811 into the fibre link I get zero packet loss which suggests its a problem with the switch.
I have changed the modules and fibre cables which makes no difference. As I stated at the start I have two 2960's both are showing exactly the same issue. Details of the switch are below the SFP are cisco branded:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with DHCP running on a cisco 1900 series router, 1921 to be precise. The Data VLAN works perfectly, i configured a ip helper address and its working. Problem tough is VLAN 20. This is the voice vlan. As u can see in the config below, this has been configured using VRRP and VRF for failover purposes. I did more of these configurations, and they all worked fine, just not with this particular router!
As u will notice i deleted all the not needed to know information or i X'ed it!

Can I use this "default" list for WebVPN ? And what would be a different if i create new "sslvpn" list..Also when I'll be creating user for VPN remote access.. that user will also exist in local database and have access to router via SSH?Because the research I've done it doesn't seem you can group users in different "aaa groups" e.g. user admin belongs under "admin" aaa group which can do ssh to router, users for VPN can only do remote VPN access and not SSH and login into router.i saw ASA has some attribute for users called remote-user
•admin, in which users are allowed access to the configuration mode. This option also allows a user to connect via remote access.
•nas-prompt, in which users are allowed access to the EXEC mode.
•remote-access, in which users are allowed access to the network.
But i can't find this option in IOS on my 1900 Series ISR router.
i have a cisco 1900 series router from the isp and we connect it the our router the rv042 small biz, and we have here a cisco catalyst 2950 switch with just default configuration connected to the hosts.
my problem is from time to time that the connection is lost there is no connection with the router and the only solution is to turn off and on the cisco 1900 router and the connection will be back.
do we need to configure the routers and switches? what do you need to configure?

The DMVPN Design Guide recommends current 12.4 or 12.4T IOS, but the DG was last updated in July 2008. I cannot seem to find any recommendations newer than this. I was configuring the router though this console connection, and I created a new user (priv level 15) and removed the default 'cisco' user. So I'm stuck at the username/password login prompt now.
I decided to do the password recovery procedure (via the cisco doc I found etc), but I cannot break into ROMMON during the boot process. I'm not sure if that's because my Mac isn't sending the break, or what.
The pw recovery doc says you can "remove flash" if you can't break into the boot sequence. However, I cannot find any instructions on how to remove the flash. I've opened the router, and I see one very small daughter card on the main board that I think is the flash, but I'm not about to start arbitrarly prying parts off.
How to get fiber optic modules for Cisco 2821 series router. I can not find anything apart a SFP module which contains only one SFP port.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have been using a dhcp and tftp server to automatically configure branch WAN routers such as 1751's and 1841's for years but, have recently purchased a 1921 and 1941 as possible next generation replacements. The problem is when the 1900 series power up instead of getting a dhcp address directions to the tftp server it boots up and asks for the user name to be immediately changed or you will be "locked out". Any workaround to this so that I can again go back to download my common configuration? Or any other way of automatically configuring the newer version ios? Doing extra steps for 500 WAN branch routers is time consuming. Doing configurations without automation for that many is moving in the wrong direction.

I'm trying to bridge and route traffic and hoping the community can offer a review of the sample configuration and/or some ideas to make this a reality.
Existing network is bridged across site-to-site private line (p-2-p) so 192.168.100.0/24 devices exist at both locations. In order to reduce bandwidth consumption across the p-2-p, the 172.20.100.0/24 devices (end user PCs and new to the environemnt) will be routed out a local Internet connection which in turn reduces the p-2-p traffic to just private network traffic for the two networks. That same network requires routing through the 192.168.100.0/24 network in order to access the private WAN connected to the 3900 router with IP 192.168.100.1.

I have a stack of 6 switches and I want to add another over the gbit connector using fiber. I already connected but I can acces the network from the new switch. I don't have any issues on my Stack all resources are available Do I need to do some special setup or connection to enable this? Can be stacked like the others? i have an OM1 MMF fiber run between two switches, the first being a 3750 and the second being a 3550.
The link currently exceeds the maximum distance for OM1 @ 1000Mb/s (220m) so i would like to downgrade the link to 100FX using the necessary SFP's/GBIC's to extend the maximum distance to 550m and run the link @ 100Mb/s.
I have the part code for the 100FX SFP to install in the 3750 (GLC-GE-100FX) but cant find a 100FX GBIC for the 3550, can I use a 1000SX GBIC (WS-G5484) for the 3550 at one end and the 100FX SFP at the other? Any success with this configuration over MMF?
I have a client whom uses a DSL 10 MG circuit as their backup circuit for Internet Connectivity in case of a failure. The circuit uses a DSL modem that is unreliable. I was recommending yesterday tot he client that perhaps we could place a Cisco router in place of the residential grade DSL modem /router currently in place.I wanted to place a 1900 ISR G2 in there, which would allow me to swap the DSL module out whenever I can talk the company into a Metro E connection. At that point I could swap the DSL module out and put an Ethernet module in to receive the Metro E. I was not able to find a solution last night using the Dynamic Configuration Tool. Seems DSL has been phased out.Is there any recommendation that could be made to accommodate this clients request for a Cisco router that will handle DSL?

i have a gateway router going to the internet....using public IP addresses on both interfaces. starting on Monday, traffic would suddenly stop flowing from the inside of the network going out, though i can still ping the outside interface , but when I log in to the router I am able to ping to the internet. so its like traffic is not passing from the outside int to the inside int. I have a 3900 router. other thing is, when i restart the router it will work for some time and then just stop again....

We have Cisco 1900 Series Integrated Services Routers (has a wired router and a wireless router) and since this morning we can not send emails.I inquired with both the ISP and the hosting provider and all settings are correct.I can receive emails from outside the router, but can't send any emails out.If I try to telnet mail902.opentransfer.com 25 it doesn't connect.Port 25 is the port we were using all the time and was working through the router.I connected my laptop directly to the modem and was able to send emails using port 25, also was able to telnet to outgoing mail server. I didn't change anything in the router.is there a way to "enable" port 25 or "enable" mail.homeserviceclub.com (smtp server) or mail902.opentransfer.com (hosting mail server) if this would solve the problem?I don't understand why is this happening as I never had to enable or disable any email ports or mail server addresses.
