Cisco :: 1900 Outgoing Email Doesn't Go Through Router
Jul 8, 2012
We have Cisco 1900 Series Integrated Services Routers (has a wired router and a wireless router) and since this morning we can not send emails.I inquired with both the ISP and the hosting provider and all settings are correct.I can receive emails from outside the router, but can't send any emails out.If I try to telnet mail902.opentransfer.com 25 it doesn't connect.Port 25 is the port we were using all the time and was working through the router.I connected my laptop directly to the modem and was able to send emails using port 25, also was able to telnet to outgoing mail server. I didn't change anything in the router.is there a way to "enable" port 25 or "enable" mail.homeserviceclub.com (smtp server) or mail902.opentransfer.com (hosting mail server) if this would solve the problem?I don't understand why is this happening as I never had to enable or disable any email ports or mail server addresses.
One of my customers uses Comcast email and all of a sudden couldn't send messages the other day, telling me it was giving her an error. She said that she reset her router, and the email started working again. When I finally got over there to check it out, the email had started experiencing problems again. The error she was having was Error 550: Message Rejected (when trying to send email). There didn't appear to be any issues with her internet connection, and she wasn't having issues connecting to the email server, it was simply rejecting her messages.
I told her that she would have to contact Comcast, as there was really nothing I could do to fix their email server returning an error. She wasn't too happy, and remained convinced that her router had something to do with it. It's a Netgear WNDR3700 or WNDR3800 that I setup for her last year, it's a fine router.Has anyone ever had a Comcast email server randomly start rejecting messages? I noticed that her outgoing email was set to use port 587 which seems like a nonstandard port and also no authentication, but I have no idea what the Comcast email settings are supposed to be.
I recently set up two cameras. I had set up one for motion detection and email to a gmail account. It seemed to work fine, but then for some reason the motion detection tab didn't show the room like it did before. It doesn't show any picture or anything like it did before, so I couldn't choose the squares to choose the detection area. This is through mydlink account->camera info->advanced settings, and logging in to the camera remotely. So I switched to the other camera, and got it working as of last week. But now, the motion detection doesn't work anymore? It appears to be related to the username/password for the email account. I can no longer send test emails, it says invalid username/password, though the exact same values worked last week, and I didn't change anything. I tried resetting it, then setting it again, but no luck.
Motion detection is setup - and I can see in the log and on the Live Video "Motion Trigger Indicator" that this part is working. I can also send test-emails, so the smtp is set up correct. In the Event Setup I have a valid server and a motion triggered event with the status ON. But no emails are sent . In the log there is also no indication of the server trying. Am I missing something - or is this not working for anybody?
And - there is no firmware beyond 1.0 for this model as far as I can see.
P.S. I am using a Gmail account for smtp, port 587 and using startTLS to send with,
I have a client whom uses a DSL 10 MG circuit as their backup circuit for Internet Connectivity in case of a failure. The circuit uses a DSL modem that is unreliable. I was recommending yesterday tot he client that perhaps we could place a Cisco router in place of the residential grade DSL modem /router currently in place.I wanted to place a 1900 ISR G2 in there, which would allow me to swap the DSL module out whenever I can talk the company into a Metro E connection. At that point I could swap the DSL module out and put an Ethernet module in to receive the Metro E. I was not able to find a solution last night using the Dynamic Configuration Tool. Seems DSL has been phased out.Is there any recommendation that could be made to accommodate this clients request for a Cisco router that will handle DSL?
We are using Cisco 1941 Router as CPE where we wanted to trap CPU, Memory & ISYSTEM MIB. The same we are achiveing using SNMPV2 but when we tried using SNMPV3, there is no response for these MIBs.
We tried to configure SNMPV3 using below Link but still there was issue. There was response fr [URL]
Wanetd to know SNMPV3 MIB are supported for Cisco 1941 Router IOS Code universalk 15.2(3)T1 & Data License. When we tried using Cisco IOS MIB Locator, we are not able to see any MIB for SNMPV3. whats is that mean. Does this Platform + IOS Support SNMPV3 or not.
Below is the Snapshot from Cisco IOS MIB Locator for said image.
I have a question about NAT behavior on FWSM 4.0. The problem is email server (Company A) cannot connect to email gateway (Company B) on the outside network and it randomly happen. I got this error from server guy "Detail: xlate has blocked the connection between A’s mail gateway and B’s mail gateway". It work fine again after clear xlate on firewall. [code]
1. How FWSM create xlate table like that? I mean it look like NAT0 for 158.137.21.26 but it doesn't has any nat rule for 158.137.21.26 on firewall.
2. What does it mean "connections 24" at the first of line? In the normal time, I only see the connections is 0 like the second line of xlate
3. After clear xlate global 158.137.21.26, the first line of xlate table is gone then email server can connect each other. Does is a bug on FWSM? or This is a normal NAT behavior of FWSM.
I have router which has two physical interfaces Gi0/0 and Gi0/1. G0/0 connects to metro over ethernet and Gi0/1 is configured a s router on a stick, which has many defined. All those interfaces have IP addresses assigned. EIGRP is configured between other metro sites. Here is a sample IP assigment for this site, let's say Site.
if I have made a simple mistake with my config. It has authenticated ok and been assinged an Internet IP address from the ISP but the clients can not connect ping any internet address nor can the router.
i have one airtel isp connection was connected to beetel adsl modem and this modem is connected to d-link switch to accessing internet for my lan. and one netgear wireless router is aslo connected to this d-link switch. my need is i has one cisco 1900 router, i want to get internet access from adsl modem or netgear router to my cisco router.
My customer is looking at using routers in DMVPN remote locations as DNS servers. He would like to be able to estimate how much memory the DNS cache will consume before going into production. I know you can get cache information when it's running, but he wants to plan ahead.I couldn't find any reports in Cisco or on the web of DNS caching causing memory issues, so I don't think he has much to worry about, but any rule of thumb as to how much memory each cache entry consumes would be useful. Or is there a protection mechanism to limit cache memory size in IOS ? The routers will be 877s and/or 1900-series.
i just want to administor cisco ASA5520 and cisco router mpls 1900 can some tell me as admin what to check as u get into office /reguraly in cisco asa 5520 and vpn mpls router for administrator ,right now its working as configured by supplier for remote sites to connect HQ and access several server,My interest to know what are the basic day to day checkup on cisco asa5520 working as ips and cisco asa 5520 working as content filtering and cisco vpn mpls

Trying to split a supplied fixed IP address to multiple wireless devices so that I can piggy back on the internet connection in my office. Cause the IT dept refuse to provide a router.I plank to use a router for the job above.
Is there a router (1900-3900 series router) that will support a 100FX fiber connection. We use to use 2800-3800 and 2600-3700 series routers with FX fiber interface now these routers are no longer available and our need for 100Mbps FX is still a requirement.
I've got a problem with DHCP running on a cisco 1900 series router, 1921 to be precise. The Data VLAN works perfectly, i configured a ip helper address and its working. Problem tough is VLAN 20. This is the voice vlan. As u can see in the config below, this has been configured using VRRP and VRF for failover purposes. I did more of these configurations, and they all worked fine, just not with this particular router!
As u will notice i deleted all the not needed to know information or i X'ed it!

I'm a bit new to Cisco and i find this AAA a bit confusing..I've turend on AAA by:aaa new-model
Can I use this "default" list for WebVPN ? And what would be a different if i create new "sslvpn" list..Also when I'll be creating user for VPN remote access.. that user will also exist in local database and have access to router via SSH?Because the research I've done it doesn't seem you can group users in different "aaa groups" e.g. user admin belongs under "admin" aaa group which can do ssh to router, users for VPN can only do remote VPN access and not SSH and login into router.i saw ASA has some attribute for users called remote-user
•admin, in which users are allowed access to the configuration mode. This option also allows a user to connect via remote access.
•nas-prompt, in which users are allowed access to the EXEC mode.
•remote-access, in which users are allowed access to the network.
But i can't find this option in IOS on my 1900 Series ISR router.
Have been battling a router connection to new ATT t1 connection. Router was configured and sent from sister company to this new location. We have had ATT tech test circuit and it tests good, had cat5 cable tested from ATT to router, it tests good. I continue to get serial up/ line protocol down status though and cant communicate to it from wan.
I went a bought a brand new model V4.3. I had trouble installing it right from the word GO, but I did successfully get that acomplished, how ever one of the important features "logging of incoming and out going ip" won't work at all. I tried deleting the old logview.exe and rebooting everything, then installed the "new" logviewer.exe. Well absolutely nothing happens. I have double and triple checked the setting in the router...logging is turned on, the computer which has the logviewer.exe installed is the confirmed network ip i.e. 192.168.1.101 and I can and do access the internet and all other computers on the network from that computer.

I bought today new TP-Link TL-WR740N and I connected it with my cable modem as it is in manual instructed. There is problem with outgoing signal from router. It is about 1/10 from it should be (it is around 2Mbps from 20 Mbps). Same speeds are going out from router through LAN port and WiFI signal.
i have a cisco 1900 series router from the isp and we connect it the our router the rv042 small biz, and we have here a cisco catalyst 2950 switch with just default configuration connected to the hosts.
my problem is from time to time that the connection is lost there is no connection with the router and the only solution is to turn off and on the cisco 1900 router and the connection will be back.
do we need to configure the routers and switches? what do you need to configure?
I have a WRT160N router (firmware 1.53.0) that is connected to my broadband. It is giving me problems with VOIP/SIP Traffic. My SIP client connects fine and makes calls, but I cant hear any incoming/outgoing sound. The SIP client works fine when connected directly to broadband. I tried DMZ and that didn't work. Disabled SPI and that didn't work too.
Have a few of these routers internally as well as at various clients. The incoming and outgoing logs show up blank, even when there are 10-20 computers using the Internet and I know there is traffic being generated. DHCP and security logging still works fine. I also have a few E1200s on the latest firmware that are logging just fine... I'm just having issues with the E2500s.
I have a new ISR 1900 router on which i accidently deleted the default username and password and now i am unable to get in to router console. Also i am unable to break in to Rommon mode as well.
I bought 1921-SEC-k9 so i have security license installed: Technology Package License Information for Module:'c1900' [code] Now I'd like to know if SSL VPN comes with that license or do I need to buy additional VPN SSL license to use it? If so.. i'd just use IPsec... i need client-to-site configuration.. can you point me to tutorial or just a basic config.. because for ipsec i just find site-to-site tutorials on internet.

Anything wrong with my config? port forwarding to my ssh wont work. Im using CISCO 1900 Series.
We have about 9 1900 routers and 1 ASA 5510 for partail mesh VPN network. So 8 1900 connect to 1 1900 and ASA located in HQ and datacenter. All worked well however there is one site running really strange. The tunnel between 1900 is up for a while and down. Reboot router seems to be the only fix. But tunnel to ASA does not seem to be down at all.
The issue happened again today, we rebooted the router on site but tunnel still not up. DEBUG shows: deleting SA reason "Death by retransmission P1 "
I can see alot of Apr 24 19:57:55.271: ISAKMP:(0): retransmitting phase 1 MM_NO_STATE...
To me it seems like the IDE packet sent but never got reply and timed out. I did also check on the other end, the HQ. All other tunnels are still running fine on that router, just this remote site. Plus I got the similiar output when debugging on HQ router.
One thing do notice though, there was no match on both router for the ACL to match/permit ESP traffic... I asked on-site staff to reboot the modem used in remote site.
We recently upgraded our ASA to 8.3, most everything went ok, but I am having problems with outgoing nat. It seems that when one our systems that needs to be natted to an outside IP address when connecting out is not doing it. When that system goes out the ip address is our internet IP and not the natted address, however, inbound everything works.
We have one rule that does PAT
nat (INSIDE,OUTSIDE) source dynamic OG_IP_NAT_DMZ obj-1.1.1.1This is the natting statement that should be translating the addressesobject network obj-10.200.0.10 nat (INSIDE,OUTSIDE) static 2.2.2.2I think I need to double nat, is that right if so how?
Today I was having a conversation with my Cisco Academy teacher from a few years back, and we couldn't figure this out.I am getting an internet connection via Verizon FiOS. Instead of giving me an ISR, they're going to just give me an ethernet cable. Here's what I want to do with it.
This cable is going to be plugged into a 1900 series router. Connect to that will be a 48 port switch. Connected to that will be multiple servers to be used for web hosting, email, databases, etc. My ISP is providing me with 13 public addresses, however, it is not my own unique subnet.
Here comes the question; how would I set this up? The way I was originally thinking was to assign one IP to fa0/0, a second to fa0/1, and then assign the fa0/1 address as the default gateways for all the hosts on the inside. But then I realized that it won't let me have the same network on 2 ports.
Sometimes our network lag and i thing there is a computer making this problem. i'd like to audit all input output of all port of a Catalyst 1900. all i manage to do is to enter to the console menu via Telnet.. once here, i try monitoring but i'm afraid to do a bad thing :
