View 4 RepliesI have cable internet with 12 Mbit download and 1.25 Mbit upload speed. I'm using Thomson TGW850-4 router and I'm sharing the connection with my brother. Each of us have our own PC, of course.
Problem is, my brother downloads torrents while I play online games which completely screws up with my ping (from 40-80 to 350+) which makes them pretty much unplayable.
Is there a way to split the connection in two so that each of us gets 6 Mbit download and 0.625 Mbit upload at all times so that his torrents don't interfere with my online games?
I am currently having issues with the dhcp function on my DIR-615. The issue is some of my devices are never able to connect unless I set them up with static ip. Some of my devices are sometimes able to connect using DHCP but sometimes need to be set up with a static IP. In the log it says something along the lines of "sent out offer for IP 192.168.0.XXX" but the devices never receives the IP. The firmware says it is up to date. The hardware version is C1. Some of the devices having issues are PC's some are Macbooks and some are iphone and ipods. I'm not sure if it is related but when I look at who is using WAN some of the pc's who are connected to the internet have an ip address of 0.0.0.0.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a RV120W used to provide VPN access to several industrial devices. Some of these devices are assigned IP address via DHCP in the router. One cannot do DHCP, so it has a self-determined static IP.
The VPN works well for all the devices that are assigned IP's. However, it does not allow me to connect to the device that has a static IP. I can connect to it fine when I am on the LAN or WLAN, but cannot ping it via the VPN.
There is going to be 2 computer and a router each with there own static public ip address (ie 68.x.x.x range) The issue i am running in to is getting the netgear set up correctly, every time i disable the dhcp server on the netgear and set up all 3 devices with the static ips i lose internet connection. If i leave the set work set up as dhcp on the lan side and keep the wan static ip it all works fine.

I have router which has two physical interfaces Gi0/0 and Gi0/1. G0/0 connects to metro over ethernet and Gi0/1 is configured a s router on a stick, which has many defined. I had trouble installing it right from the word GO, but I did successfully get that acomplished, how ever one of the important features "logging of incoming and out going ip" won't work at all. I tried deleting the old logview.exe and rebooting everything, then installed the "new" logviewer.exe. Well absolutely nothing happens. I have double and triple checked the setting in the router...logging is turned on, the computer which has the logviewer.exe installed is the confirmed network ip i.e. 192.168.1.101 and I can and do access the internet and all other computers on the network from that computer.

I didn't change anything in the router.is there a way to "enable" port 25 or "enable" mail.homeserviceclub.com (smtp server) or mail902.opentransfer.com (hosting mail server) if this would solve the problem?I don't understand why is this happening as I never had to enable or disable any email ports or mail server addresses.

I bought today new TP-Link TL-WR740N and I connected it with my cable modem as it is in manual instructed. There is problem with outgoing signal from router. It is about 1/10 from it should be (it is around 2Mbps from 20 Mbps). Same speeds are going out from router through LAN port and WiFI signal.
I have a WRT160N router (firmware 1.53.0) that is connected to my broadband. It is giving me problems with VOIP/SIP Traffic.My SIP client connects fine and makes calls, but I cant hear any incoming/outgoing sound. The SIP client works fine when connected directly to broadband. I tried DMZ and that didn't work. Disabled SPI and that didn't work too.

The incoming and outgoing logs show up blank, even when there are 10-20 computers using the Internet and I know there is traffic being generated. DHCP and security logging still works fine. I also have a few E1200s on the latest firmware that are logging just fine... I'm just having issues with the E2500s.

Currently the phones are routing over the 10MB circuit. The General Manager would like to use the 3MB backup circuit for VOIP traffic. For the 3MB we have two T1 lines bundled together in a multilink. Configuration is bellow if needed

I'm trying to connect a second desktop to my internet connection. My current setup has my primary desktop using a wireless card and getting internet from the wireless router. Then I bridged the connection from my desktop to my xbox. Everything worked perfectly.
However, I recently got a second desktop(running lubuntu if it matters) and I'm trying to get it connected so that I can use Synergy and share a mouse with it. I found an old router laying around the house and was hoping I could use it to share the bridged connection to my xbox with the second desktop. Like this:
I couldn't get that to work though. The second desktop knew it was connected, but it couldn't connect to the internet. It would also throw off my primary desktop and it would try to connect to the old router.
I also tried to set it up like this:
Using an ethernet plug in the wall that normally just went to the TV and trying to split it there. The TV still worked, but the second desktop didn't.
How I can get this all working. I'd like to do it without having to order a wireless card/usb and just use what I have.
In one of our offices in Tokyo, we used to connect to the internet using a PPPoE connection from an ASA5505 and then ran multiple IP SEC tunnels to our remote sites. We have a /28 public range, but I couldn't work out how to utilize the other addresses, as the firewall was assigned a /32 on it's dialer.
To try to use more of the address space, we changed the topology and put a 1921 router at the internet perimeter terminating the PPPoE and then connected the inside of that to the outside of our ASA5505. We split the /28 into two /29 sub nets. the dialer interface of the router has a /32 from one of the /29s and the link between the inside of the router and the outside of the firewall used the other /29.
Since that change, we have had a number of performance problems to devices located behind the firewall (over VPN). If there's no traffic going over it, then response times to the public facing interfaces of the eqpt there are good. The more traffic we push over it the more packet loss we get. The response times are consistent, it's the packet loss that's the problem. There are no errors or drops on the PPPoE interface.The obvious answer to this is that we're pushing more traffic over it than we should, but it's a 100Mb circuit and I'm having severe packet loss if I try to push about 2 or 3 Mbps through it.
We're pretty certain that it's an ISP problem and can't say for sure that the problem started when we changed the topology out there, but anything to do with the way we've split the subnets out like that?
I have installed my new E4200 and it works beautifully. I have several wirelss adapters and a few wired connections through powerline adapters. I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. I have used 2 previous routers with the same configuration and can see all devices.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a pair of ASA5510 currently running as a failover pair. For some reason we need to move one of the firewall to another site, is there any best practice on splitting up the failover pair then I can re-configure the secondary unit offline?
I'm thinking to power down the secondary unit, unplug it from the network totally then erase the configuration on the secondary unit on console so I can re-configure it. For the primary unit, I will disable the faiolver config by "no failover" on the primary unit. Is that necessarily all thing for splitting up the failover cluster?

I would like to connect to a 1Gb routed uplink, and then impose bandwidth limits (via shaping/policing/whatever) on a per port basis. The ports could either be configured to route, or as switchports on separate VLANS. I'm trying to identify hardware that will let me do this. The set up I have in mind is shown below.

I have made 4 as trunk group access on the PBX for E1-PRI and 8 as trunk group access for E1-CAS.I am able to dial 4-1-6261 to place calls on telephone 6261 from 6000(outgoing and incoming over PRI). And I am able to dial 4-2-6261 to place calls on telephone 6261 from 6000(outgoing on PRI and incoming on CAS).But I am not able to dial out from my PBX extensions over the E1-CAS card using 8-1-xxxx or 8-2-xxxx. I have patched two PBXs back to back on their E1-CAS ports and am able to dial out using 8-xxxx. So this means the trunk group allocation on PBX is working fine. The show controller e1 0/0/0 is showing normal stats.When I do a show voice port 0/0/0:1 I see that one of the ds0 timeslots are being seized when I try to dial out on 8-x-xxxx but the Out Status column entry against the timeslot says clear_bak.When I am placing calls on PRI, I don't see any such indication against the timeslot being seized.Basically since I am able to dial in to my E1-CAS port, the line coding, framing, signaling(to some extent) must be right, or so I guess. But am not able to dial out.
Something a little odd happened the other night. I had spent the afternoon updating all necessary programs where updates were available, did a GRC shieldsup test, did a clean and test of my system with AVG and MBAM. Everything looked fine.I went online that night however and as soon as I went to my online banking website, I noticed that there was an outgoing attempt logged in my firewall (ZoneAlarm). Other computers need to turn on a program, they send a message to the licensing server, and it responds that they have permission to run.Until today the licensing server was plugged into its own ethernet wall socket and configured with a static IP address. Today I put a router into that wall socket and now the server's plugged into the router.The router (WRT-54G) was set to the static IP - and now the internet on its network works. I set all ports to be forwarded to the server's internal IP address - and now my programs can detect and ping it. Everything elase like internet.Other servers all working fine. Only problem is that when ever someone dials a landline number from an extension it does not go through.seems like the firewall is blocking it but I cannot figure out why or how. All the NAT and Access list is fine. Although I have no idea how to accept the SIP PROXY IP through the firewall and I am guessing that might be the problem.
