Cisco WAN :: ASA5505 When Starts It Loads Into Rommon
Apr 24, 2012
When my ASA5505 starts it loads into rommon. I enter "boot" and everything boots fine. How do I make that load by default whenever it starts. Any correct command syntax to make that happen ?
I've ended up in rommon mode on my new"old" RMA'ed ASA5505, and I'm stuck there, I'v tried to erase Disk0 and all that, and tftp'ed a new image into the box, but when booting I get the message :
INFO: Unable to read firewall mode from flash WARNING: Unable to write firewall mode to flash, this is normal if flash is not formatted Running Activation Key: 0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000 This activattion key is invalid, use default settings only i2c_write_byte_w_suspend() error, slot = 0x0, device = 0x40, address = 26 byte count =1. My first time attempting this so excuse my wrong use of terms..i believe its load balancing...new company site is going to have 2 separate connections:
con 1: 15 up/2 down coax connection con 2: 6 up/ 6 down dish con 1 needs to simply have http and https traffic. con 2 will have security surveillance, SNMP, and VoIP (PBX)
the hardware i know that will be at that location when i fly up there is a Sonicwall TZ210 and a 48-port Netgear gigabit...where do i start?
I have an AC 3.0 connection that works fine prior to CSD. Once I've enabled CSD I get CSD to load and then the AC tunnel fails. Ive attached the DART bundle and a few screen shots.
After configuring the router and enabling a load of functions to secure our LAN, the download speed halved! Even disabling AcitveX "eats" 10Mbs! I understand that enabling IPsec will drag the speed down to 25Mbps, but I have disabled this.
Even setting the QoS to speeds equal or higher then the ISP's promissises drags the speed down!
I installed Comodo's Firewall and during installation I accepted to install the Secure DNS too. Afterward I noticed my web-pages loaded slower than usual. They weren't extremely slow but definitely slower than what I've been accustomed. I tried some OPENDNS servers and others to see if it made any difference but it didn't. I also went to my router's setup page((http://192.168.1.1/)so I could manually add the previously mentioned DNS servers. I finally decided to revert back to my old DNS list. To disable using the Comodo DNS servers I did the following:Wireless Network Connection Properties-> Internet Protocol Ver 4 (TCP/IPv4)-> Properties -> Select "Obtain DNS server address automatically"I also went into to my router's setup page (http://192.168.1.1/) to set my DNS list to zeros so that I can get back my default ISP's DNS servers (207.69.188.185,186,187). However, website loading is still sluggish.I thought the issue might just be a temporary hiccup from my ISP but my roommate doesn't have these issues. We tried a speed test at dslreports.com and the results were weird. On my laptop the results were 8500+ Kb/s with a 279ms latency. I was 10 ft away from my router.
I have some issues with win 7 64 bit pro. I have 3 computers on a cat 5 wired home LAN using a DGL-4500 router and in yhe same homegroup. All are gigabit capable. 2 are regular PCs, one is an HTPC. All have the latest drivers.1) File transfers never exceed 12% of the network capacity.2) If I transfer from computer A to computer B's public folder, I can transfer 1GB in a few minutes. However, if I attempt to copy/paste a file from Computer B's public folder to computer A, computer A takes forever "discovering" the file, then gives some absurd transfer time, say 11 hours for the same file.3) If however I go to computer B and paste the same file into Computer A's public folder, the transfer takes only a few minutes.
4) If at any point during scenario #2 I right-click B's public folder from A during a transfer, I get the spinning circle forever which 90% of the time results in Explorer hanging and requiring the process to be killed/restarted.
When my Toshiba Satellite notebook first begins booting up, the ethernet cable "connected indicator" light is ON, but somewhere around the halfway booted-up point, the light goes out. Once booting is completed, I get the message "Network cable is unplugged". The cable is definitely plugged in, as I also have Ubuntu Linux running on this same machine (dual-boot), and use this cabled-connection ALL THE TIME (for both LAN and Internet access)
when i press fn+f3 on my acer 4750z laptop it starts up bluetooth and not wifi! when i enter into the wifi wizard installed, which is intel mywifi tech, it shows "NO SUPPORTED WIRELESS ADAPTER FOUND" what should i do to start up wifi??
I'm using a dlink network adapter (6 months old) on my pc, have always gotten an excellent signal. Main pc in house is hooked up to dir-615 router & works fine. I had some bsod's recently & decided to reformat xp. Loaded the driver for the adapter, got an excellent signal, but couldn't access the net. The signal shows 4 green bars for about 20 seconds, then all white bars for a few seconds, then back to green. It keeps dropping the signal over & over. The network card shows its working properly.
I did an ipconfig, and it says "media state disconnected" & shows no addresses. If the dlink adapter is faulty then i'm assuming it wouldn't work in the first place. I'm thinking its some setting not right in the pc. The reformat went fine, loaded all the drivers in the right order. I only have IE for a browser which i need to access the net with to load firefox & all other programs plus service pack 3 & other xp updates back on with.
When I loaded the driver for the dlink adapter, i used a different workgroup/name than the network name originally used to set up the dlink router if that means anything. I've read about resetting the winsock which i'm going to try, but I would think that wouldn't be it since i just reformatted the pc.
I had a D-link DSL-G604T router which recently had begun to drop connections, so I decided it was time for an upgrade. I bought a D-link DIR-615 and followed the instructions on the CD, but no internet connection. After several hours of hair pulling I came accross a solution; If I connected the internet port on the DIR-615 to one of the ethernet ports on the DSL-G604T using an ethernet cable I could then connect to the internet. However this defeats the point of having a new router if I have to use the old one to connect to the internet. Is there a way to configure the DIR-615 so that is works properly?
I would be surfing the internet for about 30 minutes, then all of a sudden the wireless connection just stops. The wireless icon says that I'm connected with an 'excellent' connection, but I can't browse any webpages and nothing loads.
After about another 30 minutes of no connection, the wireless starts again and everything is fine. I tried updating the driver, but it says that it's already up to date. I also did a diagnostics, and I get this message: "Dell Wireless 1490 Dual Band WLAN Mini Card (Failed)".
I have a school with 550 iPads. We are using two 5508 WLCs sharing the number of APs. The DHCP server and the default gateway for the network are on the firewall. The clients are able to get a DCHP. After some time, maybe about longer than a month, the clients are no longer able to get DCHP addresses. A reboot of both controllers takes care of this. Presently we are runing 7.2.110 OS. I am going to upgrade to the latest 7.4.100, and reload tonight.
I am having trouble with my Cisco SG300 switch big time. I have two servers with IP addresses 10.17.0.11 and 10.17.0.29 sitting on the same switch which is a Cisco SG300. I initiate a file transfer from 10.17.0.11 to 10.17.0.29. I could see lots of Dup Acks and retransmissions which means something is wrong in the connection. Further, I could see the session initiation a bit bizarre. I could see two SYN packets sent from 10.17.0.11 to 10.17.0.29 and also two SYN ACK packets returned by 10.17.0.29. The switch forms part of a network but since both the servers are sitting on the same switch I suppose the rest of the network doesn't come into play when one server talks to the other.
See also the number of Dup Acks and retransmissions. The two switch ports connecting the servers have speed and duplex set to auto negotiate, flow control is enabled. What could cause this sort of problem?Could it be any setting on the switch or the servers' NICs?Or could it be a bad switch that causes this?
When my Hp Desktop with Vista starts up,... the internet for everyone in the house goes out and the phones go out as well because our modem controls the internet and phone. The modem shows the DNS light blinking. When this Hp desktop is turned off I have internet and phone in the house. I just have no idea why the desktop turning on, causes the internet and phone to shut off...
I just recently setup a network in my home and selected the D-Link DIR-655 router to manage traffic. It's not clear to me when this issue first appeared as I've been away so apologies for not having a proper timeline. The router is setup in it's default configuration with only the IP Address being changed due to a conflict with my DSL modem. I don't have any experience with routers and it seemed to be working fine so I didn't mess with it.However, the router goes into what appears to be an endless series of reboots making it completely unusable. This can occur anywhere from immediately upon a cold start power to a few hours into it.I suspected a defective router and since I had been traveling the warranty was of no use so I purchased a brand new router last week which is also a DIR-655. The new router is doing exactly the same thing as the original one.
If I disable the wireless functionality both routers perform flawlessly for extended periods (many days/weeks). As soon as I enable wireless what appears to be warm start reboots begin as mentioned anywhere from immediately to a few hours along.Since I am new to networking in general and routers in particular I thought perhaps am I doing something wrong and hence my post here. The f/w in the new router is 204NA. I don't recall the f/w release of the initial router but I did update it within the last month to whatever was the most current from D-Link. If it's important to know the f/w release of the initial router I will find it for you.
Two (2) DIR 655 routers appear to enter a state of perpetual warm start reboots whenever wireless functionality is enabled. This begins anywhere from immediately to a few hours after a router cold start.Disabling the wireless functionality completely stabilizes both routers.
I have a RV042:Firmware Version : v4.0.0.07-tm (Aug 19 2010 19:19:50)PID VID : RV042 V03 .Configured with a internal LAN address (10.0.17.0/24) and ISP PPPoE External address on WAN1.I´ve configured a VPN with a remote location (Fortigate 4) and after the VPN starts up the RV042 cannot ping any machine in their local network (using the diagnostic, all pings failed in 10.0.17.0/24) and no machines in that network can PING and access or manage the RV042
The only way to manage the RV042 after VPN starts UP is using a machine in the other side of the VPN (The Main office)If i force the VPN down, the connectivity begins to work, but as soon the VPN starts up again, the local/LAN connectivity loses again.
I have recently started having a problem with wireless lag. I set up a linksys wrt54gl wireless router and pluged my PC directly into it since it doesnt have a wireless card. Recently my roomate has been complaining that whenever I start a game on steam he gets lag, he is on a wireless macbook. Our internet speed is 10mb/s and im wondering if it is the router.
Have problem with both of my wag120n routers. I setup remote access, from the intranet it works fine. But from internet instead of showing me the page it starts downloading it. Instead of home page trying to save ¨download¨, if i put a long link like xxx.com/setup.cgi?=etc then it tryes to save ¨setup.cgi¨. All fileas are empty, 7kbytes.
my ea3500 has problems with youtube videos. When i click to start a video, sometimes it starts but after a very long buffering time (more than 8-10 seconds), sometimes it does-not at all some other time, the advertisement play but nothing happens after that (black screen). I have a fast internet access (30 MB up, 2 Mb down). I do not have this problem with the old router that the ea3500 is replacing ( a netgear wndr3700). On this old router al the videos are starting almost instantly.
I tried to lower the MTU of the 3500 from the default 1500 to 1400. No improvement. I tried to disable the WMM feature in QOS and by doing so i create another problem : i cannot access the 5 Ghz band anymore. I can see the SSID but cannot connect to it.
I recently acquired a WMP600N-EU that is running under W7 x64 with the latest Linksys available drivers for download, which unlike the default MS ones, don't enable the Virtual Wifi adapter. Now with this new adapter, the wireless icon starts with the blue circle spinning, and the at the point the other adapter was already connected, it displays the "orange sun" (not connected, connections available) and stays there dead for some 10 seconds. At this point, my router's SSID is already listed. Only after that time it will start to successfully auto-connect to the pre-configured network, whereas windows has already finished loading or the browser launched unable to check mail. This is obviously not a functional fault on the adapter. If I didn't had the previous adapter to compare, I might find it normal. Btw, I've cleaned every previously stored wireless connections.
I am having an issue where occasionally the Sidewinder starts to see my internal RFC 1918 address instead of the configured external address of my firewall. This is for peering between the two. The error they see on the Sidewinder is:So instead of seeing the external peer address he sees a 10.220.3.18 address. We are not sure what triggers this becuase normally he see's my 63.117.98.222 address.
I have my firewall on IP 192.168.0.1 (for example, real IP is a class C address). I have a web server (Ubuntu 10.04, though this happened before with an 8.04 box as well) on ip 192.168.0.101. Everything will be functioning fine, and I won't have any issues for a while. Then, randomly I'll have problems getting to my web server, getting disconnected from SSH sessions. I go to one of my linux boxes and do an "arping -b 192.168.0.101" and I will get two responses, one from my firewall and one from the box, as illustrated below. The only way to correct the issue that I've run into is to reload the firewall, which will then behave properly again until it randomly decides to start answering ARP requests on the other IP again.

I cleared the flash (disk0) on my ASA and now I'm unable to restore it with an IOS.
When I attempt to load it with an IOS, it appears to load just fine. It even proceeds to restart, but when it boots back up it displays the error "No images in / Error 15: File not found. unable to boot an image" and goes to ROMMON.
My computer's IP is 10.0.0.1. I'm assigning the ASA 10.0.0.254. The image filename is asa724-k8.bin. Here's the output of the environmental variables and the attempted loading of the IOS:
I'm having problem on my 1841 it won't boot. No response on console but the led lights seems to be normal.I tried removing the CF then turn it on again to see if the router will go to rommon but didn't happen. I did try using another pc thinking the com1 is faulty but still no response on console nor rommon not showing up.
ASR 1004, has a image, which is on the harddrive, not bootflash and we have no boot commands in the configuration…We are running the ROMMON version ‘15_01rs’ The ASR boots into Rommon, as it cannot find a image (as expected), as the configuration has no boot commands.Trying to TFTP or getting an IOS back into bootflash is proving problematic.Follow all TFTP commands..
I'm having a little trouble with a router I have got my hands on to practice for my CCNA.Im connected via serial>USB adapter and via XP HT on Win7. Router boots and I then break the boot sequence with ctrl-break. But then it does not go into ROMMON mode. It simply says this:
-System Bootstrap, Version 5.2(8a), RELEASE SOFTWARE -Copyright (c) 1986-1995 by cisco Systems -2500 processor with 2048 Kbytes of main memory
How I get it into ROMMON to reset the password on it.
I think that my rommon image has become corrupt as it will not take a new IOS image. I have tried several images that are within the recommended size and work with another 2620 with exactly the same specification also some commands that are available are not recognised when typed
This question is about a Cisco 871, which has no bootable image in flash. The device is currently in rommon, and i am attempting to copy the correct .bin file over from usbflash0: but recieve the following error:unable to stat usbflash0:/: permission denied ?i get the same error if i try to boot from usb, or even try to view the directory.Config register is currently set to 0x2102? Typically in this scenario, i just boot from usb, and copy everything over in enable mode, but the lack of permission on this particular router has me stumped.
