Cisco WAN :: Breaking Password On Nexus 3048
Mar 22, 2012I have a brand new Nexus switch that I cannot log into. I do not know the user/pw and think I may have to do a pw reset. Any proc for doing pw recovery on these new devices?

View 1 RepliesRecently configured one nexus 3048 switch. Create two vlans (Vlan 10 and Vlan 19). Vlan 10 is 10.1.X.X/24 and Vlan 19 is 192.168.X.X/24, connected two pcs one is Vl 10 and second pc 19. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for some input on configuring vPC on the Nexus 3048.I know that it's supported to use 1G interfaces for the vPC Peer-Link, but using 2x1G for the Peer-Link would make the Peer-Link a bottle-neck if the 10G ports are used in a vPC. What about using 2x10G ports for the Peer-Link and using the remaining 10G ports in one, or potentially two vPCs. Should that work or is it in any way not recommended? The reason I'm asking is that the 10G ports are called "Uplink" ports in the data sheets for the 3048.
We are planning to connect some servers to the 3048s using vPC with each server connected by 4x1G interface (2x1G for each switch), and then we want to connect a Netapp storage system with two controllers using 2x10G each (the controllers are active/passive, so you can think of it as two separate systems). We would connect controller A with vPC 1x10G to each switch, and controller B in the same way with vPC 1x10G to each switch.
Any way of policing traffic on the Nexus 3k platform? I can't find a reference to say policing/shaping is supported.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am building up vPC on 2 x Nexus 3048 and found that it did not work properly. The current config as follows,
1. OS: n3000-uk9.5.0.3.U2.2.bin
2. Peer link: 10 x 1G (E1/1 - E1/10) on both devices (I am wondering that 1G interface supports vPC Peer-Link. I heard that upgrading to U3.2 image will work for 1G rather than 10G... )
3. They can ping each other via management IPs
4. Edge switches vPC have not been built yet (I am focusing on Peer-Link and vPC role selection)

How will I know if my catalyst and Nexus switch supports Ethertype 0x05ff. This is for the beacon probes sent out by our ESX Servers.
We will be using Nexus 3048 and we have 3750 catalyst switches as our distro switches.
I have been assigned the task of trunking VLAN between a Nexus 3048 and a Force10 S4810. This would seem easy enough but I am really having a bear of a time getting it to work. I have devices configured on VLAN 602 on both sides but they just are not talking.

I'm going to a LAN party with some friends soon. We've tried to have one many times before but it always fails because we cannot get the computers to link up. The reason for that, I think, is because the host (of the party) has his computer on a home network. I need to know how to get all of our computers talking to each other without making it hard for him to get back on his home network.I have a Linksys WRT54g broadband router that I used to use for internet and LAN on my home network. I currently use a Linksys WRT160N V3, but I was hoping to not have to remove that one... 4 computers at the party will be using Win 7 and the 5th is running XP

This is already my second model of the router, which got under warranty. The first model had a problem because it brokes off Internet connections. This second model also breaks the connection. I'm going to give it to complain. Before I do it I would like to ask if there are any ways to improve the router without the need to dispose of the device.
Last week I upgraded the firmware in my D LINK DIR-601 from 1.01NA to 1.02NA. This resulted in breaking my VoIP service (causing one-way audio on incoming calls - callers could hear me but I could not hear them). I am using a SIP-based service from Speakeasy (Broad soft) with a Cisco 504G phone. Once I downgraded the router back to 1.01NA, the service started working again.
I don't know if anybody else has reported an SIP-related issues with this firmware.
Any recommendations for top of rack switch for within our data centre.Dual power is a requirement, but bandwidth and through put will not be huge as such I have been looking atthe WS-C3560X-48T-L and the Nexus 3048.

I did not find a layout like this in the manuals. Only a design, where only 2 N2K are connected to one N5K, with this fex config:Now I´m not sure if it is right to make a config like this with the same slots and fex´s or with different slots and fex´s.

I have multicast routing setup between two Nexus 7K's.These Nexus 7K's act as the distribution layer and they connect to 48 different 4507 access layer switches (VPC) and 3 6509 core layer switches. The 4507 swiches have two supervisor modules. One acting as active and the other as hot standby. Let's assume that multicast is working on the active module. If I pull out the active module the hot standby takes it's place. This is where multicast stops working on the switch. How can I get both Nexus 7K's to work with multicast at the same time. Here is an example of show ip mroute from both Nexus 7K's:note that DR02 has a lot more entries in the routing table. Is this working as designed?

I am trying to determine why hosts off our Nexus 7010s are being picked up in UT. Since LMS 4.0.1, UT should be supported on these devices. When adding the Nexus devices to DCR, provide the netadmin SNMP RO credential. When other SNMP RO credential is provided, user tracking will not collect end host data.I think I have this setup correctly as the device center test passes when cehcking snmp ro credentials. Our 7010s are running NX-OS 5.0(3) - earlier than the recommended version - might that cause issues? We are not using VRFs other than the default and management.
Here is my snmp section:

I was trying to get Netflow setup on one of my 7K VDCs and ran into a problem. While netflow data was reaching the collector, IP src/dst information was not appearing in the analyzer tool. I could not see any information about conversations. So I contacted the company that makes the collector/analyzer and the directed me to a blog on their site and told me to setup the 7K exactly as it is described in the blog post. I did and a bit later the ip src/dst address information appeared. So the only difference between the two configurations was that in the first case I tried to define a record and in the second case, no record was defined and instead the orginial-netflow parameter was used in the "flow monitor" section. [code]
I referenced the document "Cisco Nexus 7000 Series NX-OS System Management Configuration Guide,Release 6.x", Chapter 19 - Configuring NetFlow. It's clear to me that I didn't do something right in defining my own record since that's really the only difference between the config that worked vs the config that didn't. However, the documentation I referenced doesn't really provide useful information about how to create a record (above and beyond what I can already see by typing '?' at the CLI).
For example, the "match" command makes no sense to me. Usually when you have a match command it is accompanied by some sort of ACL. In the "flow record" section a match command would be something like "match ipv4 source address" but that's it. What does that mean? Match anything that has a IPv4 source address?? That doesn't make much sense. The collect commands are equally as bewildering. If I want to define my own record (and not use the original-netflow parameter) what do I need to do in the "flow record" sub-configuration to get Nexus to send ip src/dst information to the collector (which, I would think, is basic information to send - what good is netflow data without it)?
I am trying to upgrade IOS on my Nexus7018 from version 5.12 to 5.13. I have managed on all my three out of four Nexus succesfully but one of them is keep coming with this error,
