I am trying to connect my sever with daual homed to two Nexus 2232 fex which are part of two Nexus 5548 vPC pair( topologyu attached) but getting error on Nexus 5548 as below,

I have been tasked to replace the existing Cat 6500 and 3750 switches by Nexus 7000 and Nexus 2000.I was told initially my boss plans to get 2 x Nexus 7000 and then eventually blow up to 4 x Nexus 7000s.For Nexus, is there a list of tasks / points that i need to consider for building the initial design?
Can i just link the Nexus 7000 like the following?

if vPC is supported between a single 2232PP FEX and two 7000 switches running 6.0(1)? I have been researching this for an implementation I am doing for a client and was able to determine it was not supported with earlier versions of 5.0 when the FEX is connected via vPC as I described above, but I can't find anything related to version 6.0(1). I have done this for other clients with 5000 and 2000 switches, but I don't have too much experience with 7000 switches.

The major factor of concern from my management is about scalability (space to include more 10Gig servers as the nodes grow up). I have suggested Cisco 5596UP with 2232 PP as this gives ample amount of 10Gig ports. The setup has to be implemented across 2 different datacenters located 40 Kms apart, connected with 10Gig DC Interconnect.
I understand that Cisco Nexus 2232 is a Layer 2 Only switch and would need to communicate with parent 5K switch very frequently. Is it necessary to have the 2K and 5K pair in the same datacenter or in proximity? Is it possible to have the SFP uplinks connected to the DC interconnect? Because we have two datacenters located 40 Kms apart and having 1*Layer 3 - 5K switch at DC A with Layer 2 - 2K nexus Switch at DC B will be cost effective. We do require more 10Gig ports and not much requirement on Layer 3 usage. What are the type of communication that would be much frequent between 2K and 5K?
Does the LACP will be supported on Nexus 2000 host interfaces when parent switch is Nexus 7000?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if I'm missing something basic here however i though that I'd ask the question. I recieved a request from a client who is trying to seperate traffic out of a IBM P780 - one set of VIO servers/clients (Prod) is tagged with vlan x going out LAG 1 and another set of VIO server/clients (Test) is tagged with vlan y and z going out LAG 2. The problem is that the management subnet for these devices is on one subnet.
The infrastructure is the host device is trunked via LACP etherchannel to Nexus 2148TP(5010) which than connects to the distribution layer being a Catalyst 6504 VSS. I have tried many things today, however I feel that the correct solution to get this working is to use an Isolated trunk (as the host device does not have private vlan functionality) even though there is no requirement for hosts to be segregated. I have configured:
1. Private vlan mapping on the SVI;
2. Primary vlan and association, and isolated vlan on Distribution (6504 VSS) and Access Layer (5010/2148)
3. All Vlans are trunked between switches
4. Private vlan isolated trunk and host mappings on the port-channel interface to the host (P780).
I haven't had any luck. What I am seeing is as soon as I configure the Primary vlan on the Nexus 5010 (v5.2) (vlan y | private-vlan primary), this vlan (y) does not forward on any trunk on the Nexus 5010 switch, even without any other private vlan configuration. I believe this may be the cause to most of the issues I am having. Has any one else experienced this behaviour. Also, I haven't had a lot of experience with Private Vlans so I might be missing some fundamentals with this configuration.
Any info on how to configure dynamic-pinning, instead of static pinning on a Nexus 2224 connected to a 7009?Can't seem to find anything on CCO!

The windows 7 and 2000 previously played nicely although it was a bit of a pain to get it to work the first time, don't really remember what the issue was. I have a big old CAD plotter connected to a parallel port on the windows 2000 computer and previously was able to use it from the windows 7 computer. I was also able to access any file on the windows 2000 from windows 7, it all worked fine a few months ago. I haven't had the win 2000 computer on for a while but recently needed to use the plotter. I now get a log-on error when trying to access the win 2000 from the win 7, but it shows up on networks. The log-on error window shows a domain with the name of the windows 7 computer listed as the domain name, but nothing is set to be on a domain. I can access the files on the windows 7 computer from the win 2000 computer with no issues in that direction. There is no home group set up (think that was the issue the first time) Windows 7 is always updating itself and I suspect that's part of the problem, I am guessing something went back to a default during an up-date but I can't find it.

I'm more than willing to spend more for increased performance, but don't fully understand what benefits I'll see by dropping more than about $40 on something like the WNR1000.By the way, I'm in a two bedroom apartment and regularly have two laptops, a PS3, and Droid X connected to the internet.
