Cisco WAN :: Reserve BW For Video Conferencing 1841
Sep 5, 2011
We have a Cisco 1841 router at Branch end and a Cisco 2821 router at the HO connected by a 2MB Leased line. There is a Video Conferencing device setup in the branch office . We want to reserve 1MB bandwidth for the video conferencing and leave the remaining BW for Data . The traffic between the locations is passed through the tunnel using the static routes .

I'm trying to put together the best scenario for a large business to set up videoconferencing between users within the states and overseas. From my understanding, the company would have to set up a MCU to manage multiple audiovisual sessions. Then implement an SIP software such as Asterisk, with a registrar server to maintain a database with information about the network addresses of each user on the domain. The diagram in my head is something like this:

I am trying to
-capture and synchronize video and audio
-compress the captured data
-transport the compressed data using suitable protocols
-decompress the received data at the other end
-and finally playing it over the LAN.
So, which protocols should I use: H.323 or RTSP or anything else?Which are the best suitable APIs for the above steps?

I have this problem with the Polycom Video Conferencing (HDX 7000) While we can initiate a video call to other locations, we can not receive a video call from other locations. Whenever there is a incoming call, the polycom is ringing fine. but once we answer the call, the call will be disconnected. Our access rules are listed below, 203.125.99.99 is our public IP for example.

I have only seen this problem with several video conferences from one location. Currently there is only one T1 connection from our HQ to remote location. When two conference calls are set to use 256Kbps connection to come back to the main HQ, after an hour or so the T1 connection would drop. What I mean about drop is that the route on the 2911 will disappear. I have to wait about 10 minutes for the connection to come back up or I have to reboot the router for the connection to appear again. There are no interface drops on the serial connections or ethernet connections.
HQ - 2911
Remote - 1821
2911 running config:
Current configuration : 3529 bytes
!
version 15.0
service timestamps debug datetime msec

Site A Cisco 2911 -- 2 T1 WIC. One going to Site B 1841 another going to Site C 1841.I am looking for a way to setup a Polycom QOS, judging by several forum posts about this, would it be better to create an access list with the Polycom IPs to limit the bandwidth to 512Kbps? Or if not, a link for Polycom QOS configs? What is happening is when noone else is using the connection except for the video conference, after about an hour with the T1 not being 100 % utilized, the 2911 GE0/0 interface will start developing input queue errors. What I usually have to do is reboot the router at night and that alleviates the problem since regular data traffic will not cause this problem.
Current configuration : 3529 bytes
version 15.0
service timestamps debug datetime msec
service timestamps log datetime msec localtime show-timezone year
service password-encryption

I have a Cisco 877 on an ADSL connection. QoS isn't doing the trick -- I need to reserve 200 meg or so of my outbound (upstream) bandwidth for VoIP to end complaints about voice quality. Any example of how to classify SIP, RTP, IAX, and Skype traffic and put a rate limit on anything that doesn't fall into that category? The VoIP phones also are in their own IP range on the LAN side if that would make things easier...or I could even connect them into a specific port on the internal switch in the router.

I have a Cisco 5505 with a 12Mbps feed. I want to reserve 2Mbps for RTP traffic. I followed the QoS guide here: url... The goal would be that any traffic destined for port 5000 through 5100 UDP or TCP from any IP to any IP on any interface.should always have 2Mbps available to it.

Before going further let me tell you I hate QoS..the policies that I applied. I am trying to create reserve traffic for a CE but when I try to download or upload the traffic goes from 2MB which is where it should stay to up to 6MB?completly losted, I will not move to ccnp sp like this.

This problem applies (in my case) to our ASA5510. The issue here is that the http service on the ASA is runnnig off of the standard port 80. Login to the firewall and run the following.no http server enable http server enable 8080,Now you should be able to add a NAT/PAT on port 443 to another server of your liking. Just remember when you attempt to use ASDM to manage the ASA in the future to specify the new port 8080.

I know that the 6500 with a Sup 720 reserves power for a redundant 720. If there is no plan to install that redundant Sup, is there a means of releasing that reserved power? I know that one approach would be to insert a card into that slot to cut the reserve down, but I need to reclaim all of that power.

Why this router have DHCP server and Port forwarding features and many LAN ports, but does not have DHCP reserve feature? If I can plug many computers, each one get own IP address, but how I can't fix it? I need to port forwarding of course, but if lease time ended, next time my computer got other IP address, so I need to reconfigure port forwarding each time! Of course I can do it, but try to explain it for your wife? Yes, I can use static IP addresses, but for what this box have DHCP server?

Currently, we have a Cisco router (28xx), ASA 5520, and a core switch 4500. We have different vlans. We also have Auto QoS running for our Cisco IP Phones. My manager just asked me to see if I can either reserve some certain bandwidth for one vlan, or give that vlan higher priority on internet traffic than the others.
1.) Anyway we can reserve some more bandwidth for one vlan than other vlans?
2.) If #1 cannot be done, how can we provide higher priority on the internet traffic to one vlan than the others?
3.) Is #1 or #2 the same config? If not, which one would be easier (without changing our current QoS settings)?
4.) If 1 or 2 can be done, which device I should config the settings on?
5.) This question may be duplicate, but do we need to reset our current QoS to achieve the goal?

I want to watch internet streaming on my TV. And I don't want to have my PC turned on all the time. I've learned that I need some set top box for that, so I could connect it to my cable modem and TV. But all set boxes I've seen so far are for HDTVs and my TV is standard with S-VIDEO input.

I'm trying to set up a system where a lecturer can sit at home and give his (video and audio) class across the street via an ethernet cable strung across the street. The only problem is he has a mac, and we in the class running it aren't going to leave our PCs for macs!Is there any simple way to connect the mac to PC (without running through a router, as it slows down the system)? If so, what programs will work best for both PC and mac for streaming the video (and are free)[BTW I don't think a 100m cable is too long for the signal.

Every year I attend a local motorsport event and I am usually responsible for providing a live online video broadcast of the event which I do using a website such as ustream.tv or similar. The event is non-profit so spending as little money as possible or none at all is the best option for us. We use a 3G card/dongle and a laptop with 2 or 3 webcams for the video feed....The results/scoring system in use at the event is controlled by the organisers and they have setup a VNC server where teams can connect with their laptops via a wireless network to view results, what I would like to do, is to include the results screen in my video feed. So somehow, I need to trick my computer into thinking that the VNC viewer software is a video input device.I have looked for something similar last year but didn't have much success, If separate laptops are needed, I have 3 windows laptops at my disposal and a macbook pro which will be on the same network. Whichever one will be most suitable for the task will be used.

I have a setup using an ASA 5510 8.2(2). In the DMZ (192.168.12.x) there is a server, switch and multiple cameras for surveillance of the site. In the Inside (140.152.25.x) are the pcs that can run the client software to view the video feed, or it can pull from the server in the DMZ.
On the server in the DMZ, you can see the feed, along with any pc you connect to that network. On any machine on the Inside, or through VPN, you cannot either with the client software or pulling from the surveillance server.
I am watching the connection through ASDM and don’t see any particular port being blocked, but I do see TCP connections being terminated by inspection. So far I’ve taken out inspections for http and rstp. I don’t really see anything else that would drop video. I've attached the error I keep seeing.

inspect dns preset_dns_map

Just got a new HD Smart TV and trying to stream Netflix and Youtube. Netflix works decent most of the time, buffering occasionally but Youtube buffers all the time and is not watchable. Using a Netgear WGT624 b/g router located some 60 feet away a half floor upstairs. Internet downstream speed is about 5.5 Mbps on the hard wired main computer and laptops show the same speed when connected wirelessly. Wireless Network Connection Status on a laptop close to the TV show "Very Good to Good" signal strength and Speed at 11 Mbps. Why is the Yotube connection so poor on the TV? The Netflix could be better too. Laptop by the TV streams Neflix and Yotube fine but of course that is not HD. Do I need an upgraded router or powerline network adapter?

About two days ago my laptop started having problems with video playback on flash websites and pixelation/off-color images on every site I go to. The videos will be playing and then suddenly will start "tiling" and glitching around wile images will either not show up, show only half of the image, show up half "normal" and half pixelated, or be completely pixelated and blocky. This only started happening just recently and has never happened before.
